I've only seen the anime [ i cant find the manga at any of my local bookstores ] but i really like it.

On the first day of high school a beautiful girl named Haruhi Suzumiya introduces herself as having "no interest in ordinary humans". She asks for any aliens, time travelers, sliders or espers to join her. Watching her weird behaviour is Kyon who sits in front of Haruhi and is the only person who talks to her. When Kyon comments about Haruhi's joining every club in school and then quitting he unwittingly gives Haruhi an idea to start her own after school club. Thereafter Kyon and several others find themselves dragged, literally, into the Save our world by Overloading it with fun Suzumiya Haruhi's Brigade (the S.O.S. Brigade for short).

I think I'm one of the only people on the planet who didn't like that anime. I didn't like Haruhi at all. I don't care for that rude "Do as I say cause I'm awesome" kind of person. Considering that she was the main character and so central to the series, I just couldn't get into it. It's sad too, cause I pretty much like everyone else, but Haruhi herself ruined the series for me. :(

I found this series particularly interesting, especially since the episodes don't follow the story in chronological order. I hear that its based on a book and that the book explains a lot of the things that happen that may not be completely clarified in the anime.

• Ahaha, it feels like I'm the only person who haven't watched [i]The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi[i] yet xD;. Hm, I have the tendency to get ticked off at well-known shows, so I don't know if I will ever end up watching the anime, but I guess I'll ask my sister to watch it for me instead xD;.

I'm going to watch the first dvd tomorrow, I believe. I just went out with my boyfriend and his friend Brad to Best Buy today, and Brad bought a whole bunch of the new anime that's just recently been released (he's obsessed over box sets because of all the extras, haha... and I suppose I would be too if I had the money for it... this series came with the cute headband. Dx), and that was one of the ones he got. I've been waiting to see it for a while now, since I found the opening on youtube, and it looks fantastically cute. I hope that I'll like it. ^^;

I like Haruhi as a fictional-character, because if she was "alive" in "real life"...
I don't think I would like her(or I might :S)...Mostly because almost all she does is bulling people..:(
But that's kinda what makes her awesome! :D

i see the first episode of this anime and think omg that is just so weird and random, though the decription of the anime is so interesting.
i think it a funny anime but not one of my favorite cause i like plot anime not random anime episode put together to become an anime.

I agree
even though i choose humor my number 1 subject now for a anime, i have to say its not a fav to because its forgettable, if they put a plot on there and kept the humor it would of been one of my top anime.

That suck!!! Well but it's graeat I love the part that Haruhi have her first Kiss with the guy that I forgot his name but it's cainda weird that anime but add the same time is funny!! ^_^

I havent seen the whole thing, but the first few eps are really funny X3 i need to remind my boyfriend to burn it for me to watch cause we always forget when i'm at his house lol TT; *play computer games too often* XD

I thought Haruhi was pretty funny, with the hair style thing~ She is pretty bossy, but still fiction, so I don't really judge her or anything. XD;

I love this series! I almost never stopped laughing, and if you didn't know you were watching them out of chronological order, it was absolutely headscratching. I DID watch them in story-order though, so I had a better time of it.

Really though, if you are going to see this series, find the fansubs. There is something about the dub that really loses that Haruhi edge. She's more spastic and brainless in the dub, and while she is eccentric, she is NOT remotely stupid.

Not to mention the sexual harassment of Mikuru alone is just more hilarious in Japanese.

This is a series that loses almost all of its greatness in translation, so I'm really sad that they dubbed it. But I hate English dubs, so I guess I'm biased?

About a month before I got to actually watching the first episode, I memorized the Hare Hare Yukai dance. It's just THAT addicting. D8 My friend sent it to me one day, and I couldn't stop watching the full song on Youtube until I finally got it down. I must have seen it in three different languages, at 1/7th the intended speed, and done by zombies a thousand times. XD

im pretty sure ive seen all of em, and i loved em. i thought it was funny and had a good little twist to it.

I've seen that show before. It's cute and all, but my favorite episode is probably the 4th one XDD

not sure if ive posted on this one or not, but reguardless...I loved it...thought it was hilarious and i like the story to...plus the singing at the talent thing was pretty good...although ive only seen it in jap.

Wonderful show, I think the second season should have started showing in Japan earlier this month. I'm really looking forward to watching what happens 'next'.

I watched the anime in a week because a friend of mine wanted me to cosplay with her. It was amazing!

I cosplayed as Nagato, Yuki... It was a ton of fun. My friend was Haruhi and we did the Hare Hare Yukai Dance.

I started watching this show last year during Christmas break. I loved this show. I think that the anime itself is drawn so well. It's beautiful.

I just... loved this show in general. I especially loved the part at the end of the show where Kyon kisses Haruhi.

It was so wonderful. I also like the part where Haruhi and Yuki were filling in for some girls in a band for that festival. The animation was wonderful. The movements of the characters playing all of the instruments was brilliant.
Honestly, I think that it is one of the best animes I've ever seen.

Its one of the few Anime where I actually watched the whole thing. Shock horror! Nah, it was really good, and the fact it was out of order kept me paying attention. I also love the Phoenix Wright parody in the detective episode. Of course at the time I didn't know what Phoenix Wright was, but now that I do, it's so much more funny.
