Alrighty, someone had to make a thread dedicated to one of the most depressing mangas around. xD

Sooo~ Saikano! Who's read it here, and do you like it, hate it, or is it just okay? I ask this as I've just watched the live action movie tonight after so long of waiting to see it. I read the books quite a while back, and found that I absolutely couldn't put it down and that it was just the most amazing story.

To those who don't know, Saikano is the story of a teenage girl who decides that she wants to go out with someone she's been looking at from afar. She asks him out, and they start dating uncomfortably. And somewhere along the line, she ends up with a secret, one that'll change the entire fate of the world.

I watched the anime series and I say it's alright, good storyline but the ending was a let down. Though I would recommend people to watch it, that's if they can handle sad animes. :D

That's the one thing I haven't seen yet, was the anime. The manga ending was... well, better than the live action. xD I've been looking around for the anime lately but I can't seem to find it. Mind if you pm me what happened in the anime ending? Because the live action ending was completely different than the manga, so I'm wondering if it was based off the anime or what.

I got the DVD of it few weeks back and finished off the first DVD to.

I think its cruel what they done to her D: THEY SHOULDENT HAVE DONE THAT!! its not right >.<;;; they should be arrested for it, even if it means that she saves everybody i will NOT stand for what they did to her. >.<;;

We showed this at my school's anime club. Soooo depressing. I'm still not really sure if I liked how it ended though.

I love Saikano, the anime left much to be desired, compared to the Manga but usally that is the case. I feel bad for them though, the guy has had this huge crush on her and vice versa but the Military deems her fit to turn her into a living bio-weapon. So she cant be with him!? ARGH

I adore this anime!! I haven't read the manga yet but the anime and the movie were awesome. My fiance and I cosplayed Chise and Shuji at Anime Expo last year.

I've only read the manga...really had me depressed for like an hour after I would read each volume.
