japanese title : ファンタジックチルドレン
Plot Summary: A group of enigmatic white-haired children has been spotted at different times and places in Europe for over 500 years. Always with the appearance of 11-year-olds, they behave far more mature than they should be, never grow old, and seem to have supernatural power. What they have been seeking is a girl, and the only clue they have is a picture with a crescent moon. Now, in the year of 2012, an athletic boy named Tohma is about to be involved in this centuries-long mystery.

Wow! I can't believe I actually found someone else that loves Fantastic Children! Hehe, you've got great taste, because this show was nothing short of amazing. If anyone is interested in watching it, I highly recommend it. You can search for a blog called Cinnamon Ass on google. They have really nice summaries of each episode, but be careful not to look at the spoilers.

Now, I definitely agree with you about this series being very sad. In fact, I would say that it was one of the best, most emotionally driven series in recent times. Granted, the artwork wasn't as modern as some people would have liked, but I though it had a nice style and the characters were all very charming and well-done. I mean, if you think about it, the Belfort Children were very similar and I was actually surprised by the end of the series since I could tell them all apart and understand each of their goals and motivations.

The show started out kind of on the slow side and that might have turned away a lot of potential viewers. That's really a shame too, because the entire second half of the series included some of the best non-stop drama I had ever seen. One episode, Toma's Truth, was especially poignant and memorable. It revealed a huge secret and I was just in shock, but at the same time I half expected it to happen. It's kind of hard to explain, but if you've seen the episode that I'm talking about it'll definitely make more sense.

The end of the series wasn't really sad, but it wasn't the happiest ending either. Mistakes were made throughout the series (both in the past and during the events that actually took place in the series) and they couldn't really be corrected. Consequently, some characters didn't really have the ideal future and that made me really sad because they deserved a happy ending! I felt especially bad for Mel (and Gherta), as well as Toma. I mean, Toma didn't even do anything wrong in the actual series. I kind of wanted him to end up with Helga, but I guess that wasn't meant to be...

This series is so sad.

Highly recommended though. Not enough people watched this show. It was one of the best anime series made in recent times.
