Ayashi no Ceres has been one of my all-time favorite series for as long as I can remember, both in anime and manga. Has anyone else read the manga or seen the series?

The manga differs quite a bit from the anime, but I loved them equally as well.

Who is your favorite character? Favorite scene/quote? (Remember to mark your spoilers, but preferably put them in white text so other users can highlight. ^^)

I loved Fushigi Yuugi, but I must say that the animes in comparison are complete opposites. XD!

I have seen a few of the episodes, I sorta quit because it bored me. Well I was
a bit younger and I could not read the English subtitles so good so it bored me.
But now you actualy mention this title, I'm about to go look again.
I did not read the manga either, no money for that.

I should maybe watch Fushigi Yuugi too after this...

The intro song is pretty :') Scarlet.

Ayashi no Ceres was one of the first anime series I watched when I first got into anime. The other was Vampire Princess Miyu...it's pretty much all that was available mainstream without going to a specialty store at the time. I watched Fushigi Yuugi later and loved it too. I still love Ayashi no Ceres because it's story is so unique and the drawings so beautiful. It has a special place in my heart. <333

I used to collect animation cels from it, but that got too expensive. I sold them all when I moved away from home to fund it. ^^; I miss them sometimes, but I like my new life loads better.

Elwing, I do hope you give it another try. I have the box sets here, and I'm due to watch it again. It's been a year or so.

kin, I haven't seen Miyu yet, but I do have a basic idea of what it's about. People say it's really good. I agree, too. AnC does hold a special place in my heart too. xD

Ayashi No Ceres has to be my favorite Manga and Anime out there. Not sure why but it could be because it has a mix of everything in it. I have to say though, it surprises me because people where I am at don't really like Ayashi no Ceres but me! I love it! Aya is so awesome. Sorry...fan girl moment.

I never watched the anime - it bothered me that they changed it - but the ayashi no ceres manga series is one of my favourite manga series I've ever read - it was also one of the first. lol. My favourite charcters are Touya - for his awesome mysteriousness and Shuro. I hated the ending of the manga - it was so SAD O///O But the series is still one of my favourites to this day :D i also love all her other work as well - Watase does an amazing job :D

I just started watching that last night. xDD

I heard that the same person who created Fushigi Yuugi created this, but then I think the characters and graphics look much better. o_o;

Anyway, it's good so far. ^^ I'm starting to like it. =]

It is the same person, Yu Watase. She changed styles a lot between Fushigi Yuugi and Ayashi no Ceres. Her style matured a bit. The animations of both don't do either justice - but you can still tell the difference - either way - it's the same person :D

Yeah, I kind of knew it.. ^^ Fushigi Yuugi is actually pretty good, but girl got on my nerves so I stopped watching. xD Ayashi no Ceres is actually a bit better. :]

I read a bunch of the manga until I read a spoiler online about the ending...then I didn't want to read it anymore T_T.

What is it with Yuu Watase and the terrible, tragic endings?! T__T!!! Fushigi Yuugi and Absolute Boyfriend were like that also! *sobs*

@twism: lol... it's true tho... yuu watase is definitely dramatic.
i'm a little fuzzy on the endings to fushigi yuugi and zettai kareshi, but i remember they both had some happiness in the ending...
alice 19th was also like that...

imadoki was a bit more light hearted i think.

i've only watched the series.. never managed to get hold of the manga series though..

hmm.. i can't remember the ending for fushigi yuugi
but i've read alice 19th a long time ago.. and kind of remembered that the ending wasn't that tragic.. i think >w<

@suppi:

well, most of yuu watase works that i've read, their endings are never TOTALLY tragic. it's always bitter sweet... i think that's the word for it... it's usually saying happiness comes with a price (or sacrifice or death). XD

As far as anime series go, Ceres is my absolute favorite. It used to be my favorite manga too, but has since been equaled by several others. My favorite parts were when Ceres first emerged from Aya and when Toya came back in the last battle.I love Watase's stories and art. She's a genius!

I've watched the whole series, and I am in the process of collecting the manga. It's a bit disturbing at times with the whole "family wants to kill the main character" thing, but it has its touching moments and the best moments are had to by the main two characters :)

Being multilingual, I got mine from Ebay from a Spanish seller. I tend to listen in Japanese and read subtitles anyway, so it was no biggie. But the series is quite wonderful to watch and keeps you at the edge of your seat, especially in the last few episodes. Expect a few casualties along the way. At least Oba-Q stays safe through it all, despite her demonic driving :lol:
