((sorry if there's already a thread for this. if so, i didn't see it D: ))

We all know who CLAMP is, the 4-women team of mangaka who created hits such as Chobits, Cardcaptor Sakura and X-1999. These two series, TRC and 'holic, are connected projects by them.

TRC is about Sakura-hime (princess) of Clow Country, and her crush, Syaoran, an archaeologist. They live together peaceful, until Sakura's memories are taken from her and turned into feathers! They are scattered across various worlds. Syaoran, determined to save his princess, goes to the Dimensional Witch, Yuuko, and pays the price in order to gather the feathers---Sakura's memories of him. There are two other travelers going on the journey as well: Kurogane, a mighty, loyal ninja who swears to protect Princess Tomoyo, and Fai D. Flourite, a mysterious magician from Celes. They are transported to various worlds by a creature called Mokona {from Magic Knights Rayearth}. The journey starts out innocently enough, but soon...

xxxHOLiC is the story of Yuuko, the Dimensional Witch, and Watanuki. Watanuki has cursed eyes that can see spirits, and his blood is irresistible to them. Since Yuuko's shop specializes in granting wishes, she promises Watanuki that if he works at her shop, she'll make the spirits go away. Watanuki complies and soon finds that working at Yuuko's shop is anything but ordinary...

What I love about these two series is that it starts out rather simply and gets much deeper as things go on. CLAMP seems to love taking cliques and adding twists to them. :3

My favorite character in TRC, at this point, is Kurogane. I originally loved Fai, and still do, but Kurogane's character development is amazing. My favorite character in xxxHOLiC is Doumeki. He is so cool. xD

What chapters are you guys on? Do you like it? What do you think will happen next? I'm on chapter 162 in TRC and chapter 141 in xxxHOLiC {I'm up to date, basically}. I love it, obviously, and have no idea what's going on. I just want more kuroxfai. XDDDD

I agree with you there--I love the mangas that seem to be so simple and "childish", but once you get deeper, it's like...wow. 180 degree turn. o.o xxxHolic and Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle are my favorite mangas from CLAMP. How can anyone NOT like Yuko? Or Fay? 8D Yep. I'm a sucker for the bishies.

Anyway. xD Ch. 162 of TRC. Now...I'm having a hard time putting things together in my head, especially between what's real and what's not. @[email protected] I'm so confused. Poor, poor Fay. Someone needs a hug.

And oh boy. They sure do like gouging out their characters' eyes, don't they? (CLAMP)

I'm...only at around vol. 8 for xxxHolic because for some reason, I can't find any after that. T-T But I know what happens because I'm a dork and I wiki'd it. >.>

P.S. I'm assuming it's ok to post in THIS TRC thread because I'm talking about both TRC and xxxHolic. And it hasn't been deleted yet. Right? o.o

I love CLAMP for their crazy ability to twist with our emotions. It's sad, but true, they're ebil geniuses. ;-; And Tsubasa is a total tribute to their abilities. xD

Aww, I feel loved. ; D I really love Kurogane too. (No, I'm not that vain. x3) I've liked him from the beginning, though, when I first picked up a copy of Volume One, after my friend Flamie told me to. I found Fai annoying, and Kurogane pretty awesome. xD But Fai is totally great, too. :3 I have a new appriciation for him.

And I've found a new love for xxxHolic, as well. It's fabulous, even only about four volumes in. :3 I don't know, I think like Watanuki the most. x3 I just love his spazzy-ness~

^^ I read xxxHolic first, but now I'm reading both at once. It's just a different experience getting to see both sides of the story <3

8DD The first thought that popped into my head during the chapters with Kuro-pon's background was that his dad looks better than he does. What can I say...I'm a sucker for the ponytails.

I looove holic and tsubasa. <3 I used to dislike CLAMP but these two series have both amazing art as well as a great story and characters.

Honestly I don't have a favourite character in either of the series... I'm more interested in their relationship dynamics than anything. XD

I think Holic has really original characters. Watanuki and Himawari especially. They don't seem to fit into any character archetypes and are so charming and lively. :D I personally prefer holic to tsubasa, but that's probably because Holic has a more intimate feel to it. I can't wait to see how everything resolves. @[email protected]

Rinali - It's true. : O It's a totally different feeling reading both of them at once. You get to sort of see both sides of the story.

OK, now that that's over with... x3 It's like, as my friend explained, when Fai stabbed Sakura, and her body and mind seperated, all of the fans who only read Tsubasa were like, "OMG, she's in the bottle thingie!~~" And all of the fans who read both just laughed at them. xDDD



Oooh, I can see the likeing him more, but they look so similar, it's funny to me to think of one as better looking. x33 And ponytails are love. :3

D: I remember back when I was all "OMG I want to know about Fay's past NOOOOW" and now I'm all "...;_; Make the angst stop!" because I feel so bad for him. I really don't know what's real or not anymore @[email protected]

XDD Oh lord. I LOVE Watanuki! His personality is just hilarious--Doumeki too. He has a permanent experssion of either intense boredom or stoicism. AND HIMAWARI. She's really interesting. (Oh, oh! She has the same seiyu as Rinali! =D)

Does anyone know the "real" Himawari? =D I'm dying to spoil it/discuss it.

Poor, poor Fai. D; But really, I'm rooting for Kurogane at this point. He is kicking MAJOR ass. He's hanging in there when everyone else is falling apart. I think that's just as hard, if not more so, than having to experience the fall yourself. Kurogane's growth was amazing, as was Sakura's.

Yuuko is my all-time favorite female character, the second being a tie with Hokuto and Sakura. But Yuuko is just...so cool. *--*

Doumeki and Watanuki are awesome. I love Doumeki more though. He's logical, just like Kurogane. :D I feel really bad for Himawari though... Her past is uber-depressing.

I think the eye-gouging is symbolism. Each character that gets their eye gouged is somewhat "blind". Subaru and Seishirou were blind to their love. Fai was blind to being capable of telling the truth. Watanuki was blind to knowing others loved him. Ect. All those characters have a good reason for being partially blind.

HOLiC is like a town, and TRC is the city. That's how I think of it.

Kurogane has found the meaning of true strength already, and I think he knows it. At the beginning, he was too stubborn and thought strength was merely physical. Now he knows it takes a different kind of strength, true strenght, to hold a family together. Which is why I love him so much. <33333

The gouging of the eyes is definitely symbolism. (I actually just went through this on some other thread 8D On my xxxHolic thread on Gaia, actually) Because I doubt CLAMP gouges out their characters eyes just for fun. D: I second Deji's theory of the eyes, and my other one was that since eyes are often the windows to the soul, perhaps by destroying them or "going into" them, you get to see what they are really like--in any case, it's a personality change; symbolic of change, or a change of perspective.

My all-time favorite is Fay, followed by Yuuko and Subaru and Watanuki/Doumeki 8D I just can't think of those two apart. They're hilarious, when Watanuki is being all spastic and Doumeki's just like "...be quiet..."

Yes, Himawari's past is rather depressing...;o; Poor girl. And again, the most tormented (perhaps) character of a CLAMP series is the one who is outwardly the most cheerful, just like Fay.

Le gasp! *O* SECOND SEASON OF HOLIC?!! REALLY!?!?! AWESOME. I really didn't want ep. 24 to be the end. ;_; I was all "...WHAT THE FRICK!? Where's all the rest of the good stuff?" I hope there's going to be a third season of Tsubasa too...T-T *Petitions*
