xD I totally shouldn't like this, being a straight female and all, but dammit, I do! (Though it's mainly BECAUSE I'm a straight female that I like it.)

Ginji Amano is the former leader of Shinjuku's gang, VOLTS. He can control electricity, hence the name of the gang. Ban Midou is a drifter of sorts. He has the grip of a snake and can use the "Jagan" or "Evil Eyes", which makes the enemy see an illusion for exactly a minute. The electric eel and the snake's personalities don't match at all, Ban being stubborn and egotistical and Ginji being kind-hearted and somewhat stupid. But somehow, the two of them form a connection and create a business.

The Getbackers, with an almost 100% success rate!

Ban and Ginji promise to get back what shouldn't be gone! ...for a good price, that is!

Unfortunately, they have no luck with money. Or jobs. And their negotiator, Hevn, is always asking for a hefty fee of her own. Will the Getbackers be on the streets forever, or will they finally hit gold?

Has anyone seen this series? I happen to love both the anime and manga equally. The manga has more plot and details, but the anime has more BanxGinji hints and no boob-groping. XD (Yes, I'm one of THOSE fans!) My character is Ginji, 'cause he's so cute when he goes tare~<333 I'm up to volume 20 in the manga and watched the anime three times. xD

I watched that series years ago. It was a pretty decent series. I liked the character design and plot.

I have the anime. I have never read the manga though. I liked watching it cause I found it kinda funny in parts but mostly electrifying. I love the way the artists drew. That's what first attracted me to it. My older sister introduced me to it, and I fell in love with it.

I love the manga, but I haven't seen the anime yet. I know my boyfriend has the first two seasons of the anime at his house, but they're unopened so far until I'm done with the current 18 volumes he has (I'm on volume 9). It's a really addicting series, and I certainly like it a lot. It's different, and that's why it stands out to other manga so much. =)

As for your very first line, I don't see why being a girl or a guy should mean that you should or shouldn't read certain manga or watch certain anime. Everyone has different interests, and everyone grew up differently, and I don't think anything should be shunned for anyone. I know I like mecha anime and a lot of "guyish" manga, but it doesn't mean that I should be concerned about liking that stuff. I do like some of the shoujo anime also, but it's pretty much a mix and match of the different styles. Just because you're a girl doesn't mean it should keep you from reading anything you have an interest in. x3

Getbackers IS very different, which is why I like it. :3 That and Ginji and Ban, but whatever. ^^

What I meant was that, it being a shounen manga, it had a lot of stuff I usually don't like, such as boob-groping and random pantie-shots. D: But I kinda didn't care, just like with Chobits. I enjoyed the plot. xD

I agree with you usually shounen are aimd for guys but sometimes you can get shounen anime/manga that has stuff for girls in them like some shojou has stuff in them that is aimed for males.

like mermaid melody that has shojou-ai, a girl that cross dresses as a guy, a mermaid going after a guy with no mermen in it whatso ever.

I haven't read GetBackers in a while... but I did like it when I read it. ^^ I think I saw like the first episode of the anime... but I can't really remember...

x I love Getbackers. Ginji is just so funny, but I find it hard to believe he used to be the coldest guy around and the top leader of a Gang who called him the "Lightning Lord" I always love when they're car gets towed away...Though I really do think that it gets towed away too much.

I watched casually until Kazuki started to play a major role; then I LOVED it heheh... I used to have a poster of Kazuki and Jubei on my wall.

I like how everyone has super powers. It's kind of like a comedy version of Street Fighter.

Ah Get Backers! *squeal!* I haven't seen all the way through, and probably won't get to it for a while, but it still has a place in my heart. I mean, who doesn't go all warm and fuzzy for Ginji?

And yes, I'm one of the Ginji/Ban-chan fans, too. It's just so darn obvious. The "subtext"... yes. Though I like the girls in the show, too. They're really strong and interesting characters.

Wow...for being the "official" thread for Get Backers, it hasn't been written in in a while. So I'm going to make my post. ^^

I loved the anime, I haven't read the manga yet, but I plan on it. I totally saw the Ginji/Ban hints (and lets admit it, after seeing some of the professional artwork floating around the net of the two of them, how could anyone deny it?), and also the Jubei/Kazuki and even Jubei/Kazuki/Toshiki hints also.

My personal favorite character is Akabane, but I think that's because I usually have a preference for the villain characters, even if he's not completely a villain in the series.

And though I usually prefer to watch anime in English, I actually preferred it in Japanese. I watched it in Japanese first and just fell in love with the way the characters were portrayed. I felt like some of the English dub actors were just a little too calm in stressful situations.

And I don't know, even though the English Akabane was nice, I just preferred the Japanese Akabane, his voice just seemed to be so lyrical without changing the tone of his voice. It just seemed to match the character better than the English dub artist's voice.

Oh, and one thing I did not like about the English dubbing was the voice for Kazuki was obviously male, the character was supposed to be a bit ambiguous in his gender, so having an obvious voice just killed it a bit for me.

Get Backers is one of my favorite series as well. I've only seen the anime, a friend told me that the manga wasn't near as good so I've not yet read it.
Ginji and Ban are very very OTP, even all my male friends have taken note of it.
I have a poster of the Volts on my wall, Oh so pretty. I honestly can't decide my favorite character though, I'm stuck between Kazuki, Akubane and Ginji-kun.

Kazuki is awesome, I have been told i should cosplay him sometime. It is funny though, cause I did akabane one year. You have a poster of volts???!! I would love a getbackers poster.

Anyway! My fav character is Akabane-san! He's the total smex! But then I'm sure you guys knew that already.

I watched the anime and I borrow the books from my friend when she gets them (she's up to 21). So I'm following it pretty closely. My favourite character is Kazuki ^^ and I really like Akabane too.

I loved episode 39 of the anime too, it was hilarious.
