Where do you buy manga?

As the title says, where do you buy manga? Online? Book Stores? Specialty shops? Which is better?

I buy mine primarily at book stores and comic shops.

Namely, I like Borders because they always have those buy 4 get 1 free deals ~

Sometimes I get stuff books from Amazon.com if I can't find it in a store. I rarely do internet shopping for manga though (but I buy a lot of anime over the internet).

Note: this is slightly different from the "How frequently do you buy manga/anime" topic which can be found here

When I actually used to read manga...

I purchased it it Boarders.

I don't read manga anymore ;[

RoyalSquishy 10-17-2007 04:12 AM

I almost never buy manga:

Most of the time, my friend buys it for me as a gift! ^_^

Otherwise, I borrow manga from the library.

Or read manga at any bookstore that sells them, for example, Borders and Barnes and Nobles.

Or, download them or read them online. O.O

zumbie 10-17-2007 04:14 AM

I use to buy it at a book store. Then after I bought like 5 of them and I realized it only took me 30 min.s to read one and 10 dollars for 30 min.s of entertainment didn't make me happy enough. :3

Mimizukii 10-17-2007 04:18 AM

Borders. :3

starrybaka 10-17-2007 11:58 PM

I USED to buy my mangas at Borders. Now I don't because I read ONLINE manga. : D

dessertdesiert 10-18-2007 12:01 AM

Used book store... I get exposed to a wide variety of manga that way ^_^

DreamyMimi 10-18-2007 12:42 AM

wow Borders is like a #1 choice I don't know if you live in Vancouver but if you do I buy all my books at Chapters but its expensive u_u

Kyoko Otonashi 10-18-2007 12:57 PM

Borders, Barnes and Nobles, Dr. Noes, Comics ETC or the internets.

I'm against reading scanlations, because it's just plain rude to the people that worked so hard on it.

secretdae007 10-18-2007 01:01 PM

I usually buy from Borders or Borders Express because I have a borders card ^^; That and I ask for Borders gift cards as presents ^^;; Not really a big fan of Barnes and Noble

promised_forever 10-18-2007 01:06 PM

Waldenbooks

Takuto 10-18-2007 10:15 PM

I used to buy them at Borders, but recently, I've discovered I've been wasting alot of money doing it that way! So now I just buy it on Ebay. It's cheaper and I can get a whole set at a better price rather than buying them at the regular price of $10 each.

nike13 10-18-2007 10:27 PM

I live about 5 minutes from a Borders so that's where I do most of my shopping. I also buy a lot when we go to Anime Central in May. There is a smaller anime/manga/comic book store by my boyfriend's house but we don't go there often cause I usually have Borders coupons. Its a sort of back up if Borders doesn't have the book we're looking for ^^

BettyBeat 10-18-2007 10:33 PM

I shop for manga at Borders, due to the EXCESSIVELY great coupons. :3

Plus, sometimes they have buy 3 get 1 free deals. Good stuff.

goldfish67 10-19-2007 12:24 AM

Jimpi 10-19-2007 01:23 AM

dessertdesiert 10-19-2007 02:41 AM

Is it true that you can buy mangas cheaper at conventions?

Mimi Lara 10-19-2007 03:25 AM

I go to borders because its in the mall near here, and I can also buy books there.

Yuu 10-19-2007 11:42 AM

sometimes yes. a lot of the booths in dealers room will have deals. At AWA this year i got 4 manga for $15.

Uzura 10-19-2007 12:43 PM

Book stores. But if you're lucky, you could find manga in thrift stores for a dollar! You'll get that occasional person who just decides to give all their mangas to the thrift stores. And since they're soft covered books, they only go for a dollar. My friend beat me to one good stash, but at least I found a Tenchi Muyo manga left over xD

Ruui 10-19-2007 04:12 PM

I buy mine at Books-a-million or go downtown in the mornings and buy them at Barnes and Noble.
If i'm too lazy,i'll just read manga online.

neon666 10-19-2007 04:15 PM

i get mine mainly from waterstones but when my sister lets me i get them cheaper from ebay or amazon

i also go to this shop in Cardiff which has lot and lots of really cheap manga
but i never really go wales
and when i do its always shut oh well

but yeah overall its mainly the ones i wrote at the top

fuyumi_saito 10-20-2007 04:36 PM

Walden's books...They closed though, so I'm stuck ordering things from Barnes and Noble.

suppi 10-20-2007 06:15 PM

I used to buy them online, but now I buy them at Borders or Barnes and Noble.. if they don't have it at the book store, I order it online. :3
