First off, I hope there isn't a topic about this already. ^^'

I just finished watching the show, and strangely, found that I enjoyed it, something that was rather unexpected since it's rather cruel and the main theme is revenge.

So, has anyone else seen it?
In that case, what is your opinion of the show?
Do you have any favorite character/episodes?
Something you thought was silly or didn't like?

• I found it an awesome series also. It might be dealing with dark themes, but it does it well.
  Oh yeah. People are more likely to know what you're talking about if you call it "Hell Girl" also seeing as it's already been licensed by FUNimation. I think it's also being distributed in the US right now due to the fact that there was a promotion on Gaia.

• I love the show, so I'm looking forward to the release of the first DVD. It's very interesting too see each characters story. :]

I'm currently watching the first series and find it very intriguing. I can't wait to find out more about Ai and why she's doing all this and all the possible back stories. This anime feels a lot like Vampire Princess Miyu, which was another anime I loved.

It's darker than what I normally watch (generally do watch action, comedy, shoujo) but the real appeal is seeing the villain get what's coming to them.

The animation and music is also wonderful in this series. I even didn't mind the dub I saw (which is surprising) so the voice acting on both japanese and english versions are nice (japanese seems better though at times, but I'm just used to japanese coming out of my anime).

Hell Girl is great!!

I hope it's domestic release is not overshadowed by Death Note's popularity :( ...

I love this show, though every episode is pretty much the same with different problems. Other than that it's awesome.

Well, as for voice acting I think the japanese version does better (then again I watch almost all anime in japanese so I'm probably "a tad" biased. ;D). Though the dub isn't awful.

I absolutely LOVED Jigoku Shoujo. Enma Ai is so deliciously creepy, but also a very interesting character. It was interesting because every episode you got to see why people wanted revenge, but also what that desire did to them. I like watching that sort of human-nature stuff.

I have yet to watch the second season, but definitely plan to in the near future. Apparently there is a 3rd season in the works and Del Rey has the manga licensed. First volume at the end of this month!!

I bought the first official DVD today because I love the series and think it's worth having. I'm actually happy with the dub (which is pretty rare for me). They maintain the level of "creepy" very well in the translation.

Also, the art cards that came in the box were honestly awesome. I highly recommend it to people who haven't been buying the DVDs.

So there is a Manga coming out? Thats awesome! I picked up the first volume for my sister, since it's such an interesting premise, and we loved it. We're all curious to know more about Ai, and her companions.

Is the manga coming to America soon?! I cannot wait if it is!

I think the show is amazing. The art, story, and characters are amazing. It is really hard to find a show with new interesting episodes that don't bore you after episode ten. Ai is simply amazing.

Ichimokuren. He is gorgeous and has a third eye. Nothing is better than that. xD.

I love how some people are so stupid to actually want to send these people to hell. I mean come on, these people are bad in general, aren't they going to go to hell eventually? I understand some of the circumstances but some of them were stupid.

I got hooked on the series when my parents went to Japan and it was on tv. My favorite episode by far was the one with the ballet dancer. (she was trying to kill her instructor/adopted mother.) So many twists. It was amazing. The cards are so gorgeous too. I am glad that I bought the special edition box because it comes with one of the free extra card. (they have great quality.) I cannot wait for volume three to come out. I always hated all dubs from Funimation, but this one is great. (they have a history of horrible anime covers. xD.) I hope season two has been liscensed to come to America.

And the hairstyle that Ai has is called a hime-cut if you're interested. It's pretty common in the lolita fashion style (although that isn't what Ai wears in the series)

Ai's hairdoe is so cute. Hm, January 29th. I am glad to see Del Rey produce it since they always have the background info in series. Very important in reading.
I was looking at the art in Google. Wow. I didn't know Hell Girl was a Shouojo. (her eyes are huge! I thought Arina Tanemura drew the art when I saw it. xD. So girly.) I am definitely going to purchase it. Nothing greater than a cute little girl killing people with a site.

I don't think that Hell Girl can ever remotely be called Shoujo. I tend to consider genre to be based on plot and content rather than only art. There are plenty of shounen manga that definitely look a lot more shoujo in style. A good example would be Chobits by CLAMP. While maintaining the CLAMP style, the series is classified as shounen in content.

However the typical shoujo type series are "huge eyes." Ai has huge eyes. xD. The art is gorgeous for the manga though so I cannot wait to see it. (Thanks for the information again.) Chobit was targeted as Shonen in Japan, however it was Shoujo in America. (tokyopop classifies it under their shoujo list.) I read this whole article on my Newstype about it. xD.

It's an awesome show about revenge. It all are short stories where someone contacts Hell Girl for some serious revenge on another person. She takes him to hell but before she does that she let him experience something terrible related to the thing why he deserved the revenge of the other person. She has 3 helpers for that.
It's an awesome show tough after while it gets boring 'cause practically it's always the same that happens. But it's still really good.
So are there other fans ? n.n

I heard that a lot after we marathoned half of it for Halloween. I personally think it's very important to have all the repetition though... especially when the main plot arc starts. The various circumstances that people will call Ai and the questioning of whether or not she is doing something good or evil is crucial to building up the story.
