Take Loli vampires who are obsessed with owning people, the “innocent” photographer, a pinch of creepy scholar psychic, and the obnoxious reporter, and you’ve got Moon Phase.
In just two episodes (available on Gaia Online), I personally don’t feel that there is much to enjoy about this show, unless you’re into lolis and vampires, and the possibility of your mind wandering into a Rule 34 of a certain…tentacle scene.
It is primarily about this photographer (Kouhei) who has had bad luck getting a job as a photographer in Japan due to the fact that all his photographs have this paranormal theme going on. So Hiromi, his annoying reporter friend, gets him a job in Germany. He goes to take pictures of an old German castle, and while there he sees this girl sitting on the roof. The next day he, Hiromir, and Seiji (Hiromi’s sensei) go back to the castle, but only Kouhei goes in. He has an inability to see ghosts, so they can’t scare him out of the castle. This, however, probably would have been a better deal for him. Instead, he meets up with the girl he had seen on the roof, and discovers her name is Hazuki. She’s an evil little loli gothic lolita neko vampire. It seemed, to me, like the creator was trying to appeal to like EVERYONE with this character. She “kisses” (bites) Kouhei so that he becomes her slave, as it’s a condition she must meet to be able to leave the castle. She later finds out the her powers have no effect on Kouhei, but even still, he wants to help her. In just one days time, Kouhei goes from having a mild interest in why an over stereotyped loli is sitting on an old German castle’s roof, to risking his life to protect her and help her escape from the castle.
The voice acting was kind of boring, to be honest. The only thing that I really enjoyed from this preview (2 episodes) was the soundtrack and the art put into the castle. I may catch parts of it just to see how it ends, but i can honestly say that i won’t be going out and getting it.
