Wah! I love this one ^^ Its such a nice story...I havn't finished the manga but I watched the anime..so far they are pretty much the same :?

I havent finished the anime yet, but im reading the manga and i love it so far.

A great series :D I've read the entire manga, and I am going through the anime. I highly recommend it - comedy, romance, action, tragedy - it has pretty much a bit of everything :)

I also recommend "Fushigi Yuugi: Gaiden" a new manga following the adventures of the Priestess of Genbu, who predated Miaka and Yui.

I've read most of the manga. The last ones.. Which are like ten volumes or something, didn't appeal to me so I stopped. Miaka kind of annoying too, but tolerable. I was ok with who she ended up with. So many sad parts... The creator must be so rich by now though...

I admit the last 10 or so weren't that great, but they did add a lot to the story. Typically, the ending is kind of bittersweet, but satisfying :)

I just wish they ended it at the right spot instead of dragging it on so much T_T That was annoying. I mean I would have been happy if they ended it where:

I wish they ended it at the part where Miaka returns to her world, finds her boyfriend..And lived happily ever after. None of that going on junk. I would have been happy imagining how it ended... blah...

I liked it, even though Miaka annoyed the living hell out of me. D:< Seriously. She's like....everything you shouldn't be. She's completely useless, and if she ever says "___! Save me!" one more time, I will just call out Seiryu myself and make it eat her.

And I can't believe ALL MY FAVORITE CHARACTERS DIED! D: Hotohori, Suboshi, Nuriko....geez. Why do all my favorite characters suffer so? In almost every series I like, too. T.T

Fushigi Yuugi: Genbu Kaiden. Now THAT'S a good read, too. I like Takiko so much better than Ms. Eat-eat-and-eat. Hikitsu's a great bonus, too. 8D

Yu Watase's the master of bittersweet. xD And...eh, the ending was too "fairy-tale-ish" for me. This has nothing to do with the fact that I hate Miaka with a dying passion. Really. >.>;;

I've seen most of the anime and I loved it! I've only read about the first six books though.

I've read all of the books and enjoyed 3/4 of the anime so far. I won't mention any spoilers, but do expect some casualties along the way - this isn't entirely an "everybody lives happily ever after" story. But it's humorous and enjoyable :)

Fushigi Yuugi was also one of my first manga :3

after i finished it, i bought the Tv-serie and the 2 OVA's ^_^
i love it ..(although i don't really like miaka and tamahome -_- their relationship is .....argh ...I don't want to spoiler here ^_^')

nevertheless i love it :3 ( also the sometimes very crappy anime XD)

either that or comedies and yaoi

but yeah its awesome i just love the storyline and the little bits of romance are just...PERFECT

its one of my favorites and now my friends are getting into it so it makes things more interesting because i have someone to talk to lol

i love all the characters and the coupling of tamahome and miaka is to die for :lol:

I THINK IT'S A REALLY GOOD SERIES AND I LOVE IT!

Nuriko isn't the only one to die - 3 others die later on (won't say who - Nuriko's already enough of a spoiler). FY isn't one of those mangas or shows where everyone lives happily ever after - characters can die, too. Although you still get to see them later on as ghosts of a sort, even helping out the surviving ones in the later OAV series.

And yes, I felt sad each time one of those character died, as all characters have an uniqueness about them that we all like. It's the Seiryuu team who are more unlikeable - but then again, they're supposed to be :)

Suffice it to say....nearly EVERYONE dies. D: Minus the main characters, of course, and a few others here and there. xD

But seriously, when you make a list of the dead characters, it seems like 90% of the people in the book died.

My favorite character's Hotohori. Dead, of course. D:< WHY DO ALL THE CHARACTERS I LIKE DIE?! -sobs-

Side note: I love how Nuriko still looks girly even after he cut off his braid. xD It's the side bangs, I tell you.

Aha, i loved this one. the characters were hilarious yet it managed to make me sob more then anything xD Especially since I was such a big Nuriko fan. He/she was hilarious, and how she was always all over Hotohori. and she just became hotter after cutting off her braid.

Some of the best humour was lost when Nuriko became the first casualty out of the members of the Warriors of Suzaku. It was always funny to see sequences like Nuriko ripping out the debris near the beginning of the saga, or quaking in fear while pinned down by arrows, or arguing with Miaka over Hotohori, as well as fawning all over Tamahome. Yes, Nuriko was a character used mainly for laughs, but had at least an honourable death, and was able to sort of help out even after that. I won't say more than that due to possible spoilers, as there is no spoiler tag in this place :)

I watched this anime several years ago.. and I loved it. :). It was the first anime that had a little bit of everything I liked in it- I also loved the complexity of the characters. I never would have picked it up if I hadn't read the manga first in Animerica Extra, though. I bought one issue of Animerica Extra, just to see what was in it once, and I was hooked. I went back to my local comics store the same week, and bought the next issue, mostly just to read FY. I don't remember caring for much else, aside from Maison Ikkoku. And that technically wasn't an Animerica Extra title. I bought them this way for years, until it got too expensive, and my library started carrying the manga. I read them all that way, and for the most part, enjoyed every chapter.
And yes, the anime and manga are very similar. One notable difference is the events in book 7, though. In the anime, they're merely an omake at the end of the Fushigi Yuugi OVAs. In the manga, it's a vital part of the story. Other than that, I don't think there's much else that's different.

I like this. x] It's soo cute! =D Especially how the characters go back in time! I luff all their "old" ancient clothes.

But if you start analyzing the plot, I don't think it was quite as interesting. o.O But the first time I read all of it through it was good. xDDD

First time I watched it, I thought it was ok. But once I went through it a second time, I absolutely DESPISED Miaka. And yet, [hm..not sure if this is a spoiler or not, but I'll put it in white font anyway] pretty much everyone loves her >< It's.....UGH! Also, I read the series, it was ok, but then it dragggedddd.... =_=

I hated Miaka from the start. [Well, ok, so maybe I thought she was somewhat cute on page 1. But then, a third of the way into volume 1, I began to get so pissed at her. Every time I saw her, it was like a needle in my eye. DX

I never understood what everyone saw in Miaka, either. D:< She's such a useless lump of flesh.

The series was good, I liked it. Miaka, I despised her with a passion D:<
