Do you have a mangaka, manga artist, that you always read. When they have a new series out you instantly buy it and read it? Just because their name is on the title you buy it?
Discuss:
Who is your favorite Mangaka?
How many series have you read from that mangaka?
What makes this manga so special?
Well my favorite mangaka are Arina Tanemura and Ai Yazawa. They ahve both been my favorite from the beginning. The stories are so complex and original. I like the balance of fantasy and realism. Ai Yazawa obviously has stories that are very dramatic and realistic which Arine Tanemura has the most fantasized stories ever. Arina Tanemura is a great artist and she can draw ver well while Ai Yazawa is very choppy at her art. They are both amazing though! ^_^.

i really dont know how to answer this question i like the work of the creator dnangel and have quite alot of their work
i like the person who draw fushigi yugi they are very good but all their characters look the same which i dont mind but i feel that each different story is merely a prequel or sequel to their story lol
i like clamp they just rock in every single way
i would love to meet them someday
peach-pit is also very good with their work
but i cant decide who is my favorite its more sort of the odd series or book rather than the mangaka themselves

That's a tough question. :0 Ai Yazawa is definetly one
of my fav. manga-ka because her art style is unique
and her storylines are just so full of lovely drama. xD
I've only read Paradise Kiss and Nana by her.
The pair who did Death Note also = amazing. Death Note
is probably the most well-thought out stories I've ever
read, and every volume was intense.

Kaori Yuki by far my favorite
I love her artwork. I have two of her art books of angel sanctuary
I have read some of her short stories
but my favorite and why I want read every single book she puts out is because of godchild aka the cain saga.
Every cain saga book surprises me every time. I can never guess what happens next and that is what I love the most about it.
when the last godchild book comes out, volume 8, in february im going to start collecting angel sanctuary which has 20 volumes.

Well, art wise, I'd say Arina Tanemura for shojo style, and maybe the artist of Loveless. I don't have any Loveless manga, as I'm pretty anti-yaoi, and I only have a one chapter short story in my shojo beat for Arina Tanemura. I like Matsuri Hino's art, too; she does MeruPeri and Vampire Knight. I have one volume of Vampire Knight and am working on getting more. Storyline wise, Tite Kubo(Bleach), whoever does the Blood+ manga, and Masashi Kishimoto(Naruto).

Tough call, as I like many:
CLAMP, Ryo Mizuno, Rumiko Takahashi, Ken Akamatsu...Those are the ones I can remember off the top of my head, although there are many more I like, also :)

My favorite mangaka is probably Sumomo Yumeka. Her art is just beautiful! :0 <3 I bought a manga of hers while I was in Japan, and after reading some of it, every time I visited a book store I would scout for more of her work.
Unfortunately the manga I bought was listed under one of her pseudonyms Mizu Sahara, so I was only able to find one more. But I later found a third book at a Japanese bookstore back in America. I think a few of her works are translated in English too, but I haven't read any yet. (I guess she's know for yaoi works, but I fell in love with her cute manga My Girl about a guy who just recently discovers he's a father.)

I am also partial to Rumiko Takahashi, Kyoko, and I know "Maison Ikkoku" (Kyoko IS my fave character there, as well as Yusaku and Ms Ichinose) well, as well as most of her other works, from "Ranma 1/2" to "One-Pound Gospel" (they really SHOULD animate that). Although I'll still be concentrating more on Ken Akamatsu, since my fave of all time has to be "Negima", along with "Love Hina" and "AI Love You" :)

Arina Tanemura [Full Moon, Gentlman's Alliance +...etc] and Natsuki Takayaka [Fruits Basket] are probably my most favorite mangakas, I love their artwork. I also like Bisco Hatori [Ouran Highschool Host Club, Millenium Snow...].

My favourite mangakas are probably Hisaya Nakajo, just because of how great Hanazakari no Kimitachi e is, and Tsukuba Sakura, solely because of Land of the Blindfolded. <3
They both have amazing artistic talent, as well as great ideas for storylines, an unusual but awesome sense of humor, and a knack for characters with great depth. X3
I also love Bisco Hatori, because not only have I loved Ouran for a while, but recently read Millenium Snow only to realize they're by the same person. <3

- Difficult question... I think there are a lot of manga-ka I like and admire for different reasons. Yun Kouga (Loveless) would definitely be pretty high up the list for me, as would Ai Yazawa (Nana, ParaKiss). But right now, I think my absolute favourite manga-ka would be Milk Morinaga. I don't own any of her works, however I've read several of her yuri one-shots in scanlation thanks to Lililicious. ^w^
I like her art because it's clean and cute, and it always complements the cute love stories she tells. Plus it doesn't hurt that the girls she draws are always adorable and sweet, but each story has its own distinct feel, even when they're part of a larger whole.
Of course, if you ask me next week I'll probably have changed my mind. XD I think it almost depends on what I'm reading or what I've recently read.

Out of my whole experience with manga there are a few but here's two I love. Ai Yazawa[Yay! x3] and Yun Kouga.<3
Yun Kouga's Loveless is amazing, the story, and storyline, and the way she 'writes' it and has her characters talk, basically everything there is amazing to me. And her art, well, is just as great if not better. Overall the manga as a whole is one of my favourite mangas.[And it's shounen-ai, so that's a plus >>] I really want to read her Earthian one day.<3
Even though I've only watched ParaKiss and Read 3 mangas of Nana, her stories stuck with me and I truly enjoyed them. There's alot of reallife drama and intensity in her storylines, it's just love.<3 Her art might not be the best but I like it, It's sorta unique and fun to lok at! n3n

I don't have a lot of manga, but from the anime series I have watched, I can name a few... but back to the manga~
I love Bisco Hatori.. sound familiar? Yes! She wrote the ultimate Ouran High School Host Club, so you have to know who she is. D:< And she also wrote Millennium Snow, which was also totally awesome.. x] <33 I loved it, but since she started writing Ouran, she stopped Millennium Snow.. hopefully it'll continue. o:
Another mangaka I like is Arina Tanemura. x3 She wrote Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne, Full Moon wo Sagashite, and The Gentlemen's Alliance. x3 Although I have not read Kaitou Jeanne and Full Moon, I still think the artwork is good, as well as the story.. I have read Gentlemen's Alliance, and I'm still reading it. n__n It's a really interesting manga, and I'm a big fan of romance stuff.. The artwork is really nice too, and I love how she draws the characters hair and clothing.. it's really nice. :]]

I second that, Runikura.
I'm a Yuu Watase fan. This is mostly because of her series, Ayashi No Ceres. She's absolutely AMAZING! How much work, devotion, talent, and time she put into creating that masterpiece.
She's just amazing!! *________*

Well, the manga-ka I really love because of her style is surely Takashima Kazusa - I LOVE the way she draws. And her manga The Client has only 7 chapters, is updated I'd say once a year maybe and I still love it to death. It just - I love it love it.
Other than that though, I love CLAMP's pretty style - yeah yeah I can hear people going "over-rated" already but I do like their stuff a lot.

CLAMP by virute of being my first real exposure to manga and their variety. You have everything from flowy and detailed CCS to the more lanky style of xxxHolic, but you still can't go wrong.
Naoko Takeuchi because of Sailor Moon. *hearts*
Ai Yazawa is pretty popular now because of Nana, but her designs in ParaKiss are just to die for as well and it ranks among my favorites. And my last favorite is Arina Tanemura although all her characters have a tendancy to look alike. xD

I have a lot of favorite mangakas. ^^;. My favorites are Arina Tanemura, Yuzu Mizutani, Yuna Kageshi, Aoi Mizuki, Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, Yuu Watase, Ken Akamatsu, and Cocoa Fujiwara.
All of those artists, have gorgeous, highly detailed artwork that's colored just as well as it's drawn. I also love how they draw eyes, and their character designs. :)

I'd have to say my absolute favorite is Eita Mizuno, due to the uniqueness and cuteness of his style. I've only read two of his series, Spiral ~suiri no kizuna~ and Spiral Alive (yes, they're tied in together) but I'm looking for more. He's done some other artwork, on his site, and it looks like he might even have another story going.
He does some official art for Square Enix, given that SE publishes Spiral in Shounen GanGan. ^^; He did a Final Fantasy V picture...or was it FFVI? I can't really (honestly) remember.
He's gotten better, but even his old style has a place in my heart. He isn't responsible for the characters' attitudes and actions, but he does draw out Kyo Shirodaira's ideas...therefore, it only seems to me that he's even more talented for being able to draw the ideas of someone else. He's only the artist, not the writer. ^^;

CLAMP is amazing, I have other favorite mangakas but seeing that I do own most series of CLAMP, including Rex and Cluster, which were never released in the U.S. all the way through to their newer and oldest stuff. I also have much Code Gaess stuff cause of their style.
CLAMP and .hack is definately my two big fandoms, I have a lot of stuff because it is from a CLAMP series.
