I first tried to read the comic but my friend forced me to see the movie first and I fell in love.I never tried to read the comic again because unfortunately,I couldn't find it. |
I saw the film first then read the graphic novel. There is much more detail in the comics and the movie was trimmed down. I also like for the sake of the film that Evey wasn't a 'useless' dumb blonde, they actually gave her strength. I borrowed it from a friend but I plan to own it eventually.

Oh yeah V such a wonderful book! (Better than Watchmen in my opinion too) I read V, All Star Superman, and Whatever happen to the Cape Crusade all in the same day and my mind has never recovered from that level of comic epicness. (I don't think it wants too)

The first comic I ever owned, and still one of my favorites. Alan Moore used to write quite magnificent stuff. Too many people fall into the trap of making their characters, villains in particular, so one-dimensional, but V doesn't do that. Every character has some grey area to them. When the protagonist is destroying buildings and driving a large number of men insane while they try to hold together the only semblance of order they know, it starts to dawn on you that no one is solely good or evil. And very few writers in the comic industry can portray that quite as well as Moore did, both in V and Watchmen.
If you want more of his work, I'd recommend League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, From Hell, The Killing Joke (One of the best Batman comics), and his run on Miracleman. |
I was just about to make a post about V for Vendetta when I saw this post, so yay!
I just recently watched the movie after a LONG time of having it among my To-Watch list I've been building up for years. And I must say, I'm so disappointed in myself that I hadn't seen it earlier. After the movie, I found a download of it and with that, I found out it had a comic originally. So I downloaded the comic, and I must say that I love both the movie and comic. I usually both like the movie and what the book/comic/game the movie was based off of. The movie had the emotional drama I loved seeing visually in the characters as well as the slight romance I squealed over. But the comic, of course, has the full story and all of the important stuff of V that made him who he was. Poor V. I think highly of him. He's so strong for what he's been through. But I clap for the fact that he found someone like Eve. In both the movie and comic, I cried for V's death. |
I thought i might have posted in here in the past, but sometime in the last four years since my last post i read the graphic novel. [ninja]
Amazing. It's got so much depth. I discovered the two in much the same way you did yourself. I loved the film, and after reading it i loved the novel to equal proportions. |
I have been wanting to read this GN for a while... What's it about?
