I would have to say it was a give away comic i got from my doctors office... it was about captain america fighting a guy who had this gun that shot out allergens and caused people to have asthma or something like that... if i didnt still have it locked away somewhere i wouldn't believe it existed... but it was absolutely ridiculous... so my menewshan comic book fan friends, whats the worst you've ever seen?

Hmm...Worst Comic...That's tough. I mean, what defines it? Art? Writing? Characterization?
Well, I'll give you one of each. Art - Never could stand Laird's art in the original TMNT series. Of course, the eighties cartoon was just...yeah, the new one is much prettier. Writing - Superman's Girlfriend Lois Lane, or Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen. Characterization - Go ahead and get ahold of the Frank Miller director's cut of 'Allstar Batman and Robin'. The way he portrays Vicki Vale, Black Canary...hell, even the Bat himself. Yeah. It's...just not right. |
This is a good excuse to show everyone Rob Liefeld's 40 worst drawings if they haven't already seen it.

One of the worst comics I've ever read was Obnoxio the Clown vs the X-Men.
The title and cover should have made me realize it was going to be bad but I purchased it anyway, what a waste of a perfectly good 50 cents Canadian. |
I hate to admitt it but I don't understand comics nowadays. I remember when spiderman was simple. Now I pick up a comic and its like WOW where did all this come from!! I think people but too much into the comics, or I just can't understand them. Don't get me wrong I love comics I just think some they try too hard to make interesting.

I hate most "comedy" comics around here. Even comics drawn for toddlers look better than those. >_< The people who draw supposedly funny comics don't seem to know how they're supposed to use anatomy. Like here: Click
Because, you know, women are supposed to have arms which are so short they couldn't even scratch their own nose. I know these comics are only meant to make people laugh and not to let us stare in awe at the magnificent art, but such mistakes make me dislike a comic to the point where I don't even see the humour anymore. >_< The worst manga I've read has to be Ororon the Demon. The characters in it are elongated to a point where it's more distracting than nice. This is a page of the manga, if you want to see for yourself. I also seem to remember the characters having (next to) no eyebrows, and there was next to no dialogue, most of the panels were just people standing still or moving and every once in a while someone would say something. Oh, and the protagonist (sporting jeans in this cover) is a girl. How can you tell? You can't. I only found that out when I noticed other characters were referring to her as "she". |
The elongated thing would be fine if the art wasn't so amateurish.

Spiderman: One More Day. Now, I'm not a Spiderfan at ALL, all I really ever knew about the character was that he could swing around on webs, was a big ol smartmouth, had a dead uncle, and loved Mary Jane. So now, only three of those things are true. Congrats, Marvel. You made me dislike Spiderman MORE.

One where Batman turned into a vampire or something. Not only was it super-contrived, it was just lame and completely lacked any of the psychology or criminal elements that usually make Batman a really good read. :(

This is a tricky one. I've read quite a few bad ones, and many of them were "drawn" by Greg Land. The one that comes to mind, though is the first issue of Flash: The Fastest Man Alive. It was a "One Year Later" issue, set right after whatever Crisis DC was publishing at the time. Now, I'm still not all that familiar with the DC multiverse, and the "One Year Later" stories were supposed to be reboots, more or less, and good for new readers. So I picked up quite a few of them. Most were pretty good, but Flash? I had [I]absolutely no idea[I] what was going on. The art was muddled, the script was confusing, everything. And with a book like that, you can't really feel one way or another about it. Just indifferent. Personally, I'd rather be complaining about Greg Land.

Captain Canada. Nuff said

Comics have gone way over the edge this century, they hve all these freakin shorty stories that was never true in the movies and come up with lame tittles lol
|
I've read some pretty bad comics, but thankfully, I don't believe the worst comic I could ever imagine can exist.
THE WORST COMIC THAT I COULD EVER IMAGINE: Written by Frank Miller, Drawn by Rob Liefeld |
I've pretty much liked every comic I've read...though the first issue of the For Better or Worse TPB is definitely for worse. Black Canary, Green Arrow and the others had their dark sides to defeat. And Superman didn't have one so he pretended to create one and defeated it to motivate: BC, GA, and Batman could be motivated to defeat their dark sides.

I hate Spiderman Comics. They are so cheesy to me
|
I never cared for Richard Dragon (the second run). I thought the team who made me love Nightwing would do another great book, but no...too broody for my tastes...
|
Currently it was Catwoman No 1. I know everyone has different opinions on it but personally I just found it tacky, tasteless, and just sexist. It was really like getting punched in the gut at the last part. I am rather bummed out too because I really like Catwoman and it's not like she can't be sexy because she is. That's the core of her character but that was just I just can't put it into the words. I really was let down. I grew up reading X-men comics so it's kind of hard to pick an all time bad comic. LOL.
|
I'd say Kick-Ass. It's the perfect example of a movie doing everything right to improve on an idea. The comic itself tries far too hard to be edgy and dark. Mark Millar had his one great with Superman: Red Son, but everything else he's done is fairly forgettable.
|
Well, I didn't actually read this comic but the title is pretty bad, Condoman. I imagine it would've been one of those educational ones telling people to use condoms.
I think what really irked me at the time of seeing this particular comic book was that I was in a waiting room at the time and there was an actual condom out of its packet next to it. |
I would say the worst was Ultimate Spiderman. For some reason, any spinoffs of spiderman just seem a little overworked. Not saying that it's totally horrible, but it's a comic book that feels overused and unnecessary. /sssadface
