Has anyone else read this comic by Warren Ellis?

Myself, I loved it; probably my favorite series of all time. While it's style it probaby not for everyone (due to the gratuitous swearing, violence, crudeness and drug use), I think that it is a really intelligent comic. Its an interesting look at our society, where it is and what it might become.

Please, tell me that I'm not the only one who loves the filthy assistants.

Spider Jerusalem is my hero. About time the comic board got a good series thread. :D

I've only read the first three volumes of the TPBs so far (as my comic shop NEVER has volume 4 in stock), but damn. What a great series. I've always loved Ellis' works, but this is definitely his crowning achievement.

I borrowed the first one from a friend of mine, and the next day bought the whole series.

It gets really good after 6. I must say that a bowel disruptor is my modern day weapon of choice; that and the chair leg of truth.

He just got old assistant back in the end of volume 3, which overjoyed me. I really liked her. :D Need to see more new assistant, though.

Channon came back in book 3? I thought it was book 4. Yelena is awsome later on, but I like the stories with them in book 0 (the last one) the best, even if they have nothing to do with the main story.

Yeah, she came back at the end of the election arc, right when Spider busted the Smiler's ass about his clone running mate.\

And book 0 is the one with all the little Spider articles, right? I've read a few when I was poking around my friend's comic pile before.

Yup, book 0 and 6 are mostly collections of Spider's "stories", some of them are really touching.

Aye! I love this series.
I have up to the 6th trade paperback (and the 10th, I mistakenly read it as 1 >_> ), right now I'm saving for a new graphics card and processor so unless someone buys them for me, I wont have a hold on them anytime soon. @_@

Warren Ellis is an amazing man.

I've read only two vlumes, but i totally agree with you, Kokoryta!
This is one of the best comics I've read so far!
I like the fact That Spider is not just a super hero... he is more like a simple guy, who was stuck in a n unpleasant situation :'D He is smart and cool...
Gotta read it more.

I love Transmet so much <3 I've read the whole thing through twice now, and Book 0 probably five times alone. Spider is just a really cool dude.

This comic is truly worthy of praise, from both an art and literary point of view. I would recomment this to readers of dystopian fiction who have never read comics, too. I feel that the series was wrapped up beautifully also,

I loved this series, it was so hugely much 'in your face', but at the same time, it had an Orwellian level of terror, because it was way too easy to see us becoming what he was showing. In fact I can see a lot of it as is, people shuffling along glued to their TV's in search of the next big thrill.
It also sent me on a brief reel, when I was in college, where it made me desperately want to be a reporter like Spider. Sad part is, I doubt it would be so easy for someone like him to get by.
It really was awesome though. :D I doubt we'll see something quite that epic for a while.

Thor Needs Virgins! The religion one makes me fall over laughing every time. I agree with the Orwellian tone, very much the slow and inevitable decline of civilization into entropy.
