I'm not a pro or anything, this advice is just based on my experience with buying printers. Also, I have an HP 3-in-1 but it's the model with the fax machine (I forgot the number).
Apparently, you chose a 3-in-1 so you can do multiple functions, but I have to remind you that the copying ability and options of this machine is limited. It's mainly for personal use, it can't do any heavy commercial work that can crank out copy after copy. Scanning too - I like how easy it is to connect to a PC or laptop and have all your stuff scanned directly to your hard drive.
Maybe you can do a little desktop publishing with it but I suggest you use it mainly for original copies. You will still need other machines to do the duplicating of the finished product. As it is with all printers, you need to take care not to "overload" your machine if you want it to last, no matter how durable it is.
Most importantly, ask yourself if the ink's price tag is cost effective for your needs. Actually, this is my first consideration when I buy a printer - is the ink cheap enough for me to be able to refill it over and over?
Anyway, good luck with your choice. I sound like a salesman o_0.
