Wireless keyboard and mouse?
So I just bought a wireless keyboard and mouse today. I love them, the keyboard is really quiet and stuff. :3 However, I've been hearing horror stories about how you have to replace the batteries like every week or more. D: I'm on a lot, so I don't want to have to do this. Does anyone have a wireless keyboard/mouse? How often do you have to change the batteries? |
I wave a wireless keyboard and mouse and for me the batteries only had to be changed about once a month now but when i first got them they lasted a lot longer. i hoped this helped i forget exactly the amount of time between changing the batteries but its not that bad. :)

I got a wireless mouse sometime last year and I haven't changed the battery yet.
|
I know someone who had a wireless mouse and it needed to be changed almost every other day. Apparently the thing ate batteries like crack.
And all she did was bitch and moan about it every day. |
Changing/charging batteries is the main reason I never went with a wireless setup in the first place. It's a moot point now that I've only got my laptop. :)

I had a wirerless mouse for a while. It stopped working, I pulled out my wired mouse and never looked back. OF course I'm notorious for having things around that I forgot to buy batteries for. It's in my cabinent and maybe I'll buy new batteries for it sometime and see it it'll work again.
Never tried a wireless keyboard and quite honestly I can't be bothered with buying a new keyboard, when standard regular types can be bought cheaply and easily...Unless I got an ergonomic style. |
I have a wireless mouse, and every month i have to change my batteries at least twice.
PS: use Energizer, last longer xD |
I'm in love with my wireless keyboard and mouse. > 3<;; I have a lot of cables everywhere since I'm a technophile and having two cables gone is such a relief. ; 0; I've had past experiences where I had to change my batteries every week or so but quality is incredibly important when it comes to these things. All the wireless keyboards I've used have only required their batteries changed maybe three times a year and that's pushing it. ; 3; When it comes to mice, things can get a little pushy but my current one only requires a change every month or so. I'm never going back to wired ever again. > 3<;;;

I'm in a bit of a curious situation. I recently hooked my two computers up to a new kvm switch, but it's a usb kvm. Don't ask me why they would even make a piece of hardware like this. Anyway, the only usb peripherals that I have are wireless, so I'm stuck using wireless input devices until I can find a decent set of ps/2-usb converters.
When compared to my ps/2 peripherals, the wireless keyboard and mouse are extremely clunky and large. To me, it's worth having the two extra cables hanging around to use a better piece of hardware. I have at least twenty wires and cables in and around my desk, so taking away two doesn't make much of a difference. Since wired peripherals that use the dedicated input ports are usually manufactured with different priorities in mind from their wireless counterparts, things like a pleasant heft and feel are taken in account as opposed to energy efficiency and a place to put the batteries. |
in the last one i had it was rechargable batterys.... that needed to be charged almost all the time....
so in other words it was never a wireless mouse lol. hate the bloody things, the pointer moves on its own loads of the time |
I had a wireless keyboard and mouse for the longest of times. They keyboard was good on batteries and the set came with rechargeable batteries for the mouse as well as a charger for the mouse to sit on. (That is if we ever remembered to do so at night :XP) So I didn't see it go down so bad if we remembered to charge them nightly. If not we would just stick in regular batteries and then when we were finished switch back to the chargeables and charge them.
I suggest, to put in the investment and buy rechargeable batteries with charger. Generally you can get four in such things so as you're using two, two can be charging and when the two that are used died you can switch places with them. Hopefully there's an off switch on the mouse for when you're not using it so it's not so bad a drain. I have a wireless mouse for my laptop that I use all the time. It only takes one double A and it first died maybe two months after I bought it on the original battery which was not made for electronic devices. I buy the duracel batteries that are made for electronic devices (copper tops) so if you're not wanting to get the rechargeables make certain to look for those or batteries made for use in electronic devices, they do last longer than the common battery. |

I keep thinking about taking my mouse back as batteries(Duracell+) last a week at most, but after seeing what other people have said about wireless mice, it seems like it how a lot of them are and you've lucky if you get one that doesn't consume them like there's no tomorrow ._. |
Lol. xD
Mebbe? Whatcya gonna do? Uh? |
well i have one and i use chargeable batteries, maybe try using that. ^^ But yeah if dont use that then i change every few months.

I used to have a wireless keyboard and mouse but unfortunately I didn't like it so much. the connection was only so limited and sometimes, it lagged lot, especially when the infrared stopped working on me. My keyboard only lasted about 6-7 months >.<" But I didn't have to change my batteries at all the whole time O.O
On the mouse part, I really didn't have much problem. The only problem I had was that since it wasn't connected to my tablet PC, I always forgot I had it and when I moved around a lot, I always misplaced the mouse >.<" |
I have a wireless keyboard and wireless mouse. They are hell annoying if you have to put in a password. The keyboard won't turn on and the mouse sometimes didn't work. Which was endless annoyance.
Though for some reason it works smoothly now. o.O' Which is a bit strange. I'm just thanking the heavens it works. But it really depends on what you buy. Some brands are just not great at all no matter what they look like. My mouse doesn't have to have batteries it has a charge station. And my keyboard's batteries have lasted quite some time. I don't have to change them each week. I change them like every two months or three. |
Oh man, I completely forgot I posted this thread xD Anyways, I just had to change my mouse batteries for the first time yesterday. They lasted from Dec. 27th til then, and I'm kind of online a lot. :] I guess it does depend on what brand you buy. For those who have to change them weekly, I'd suggest getting a better one. o__o; I probably will get rechargeable batteries as well. But I loveeee how it's wireless. My keyboard is so nice and the mouse cord doesn't get in the way when I'm coloring on the computer. So I won't mind changing batteries every few months. |
I use to have one (thanks for reminding me to go get a new one...HAHA. I forget every time I'm out) I think I changed the mouse twice and the keyboard once in the two years I had them.
