Hi guys. Gaia is a good place but recently It got a problem: the CEO.

The only thing the new CEO thinks of is MO MONEY, and not how the users will enjoy things.

I read threads on how a lot of people on gaia grew out of neopets and moved to gaia.

Alot of users are coming over here. I was one of them and i did used to work with the gc- but honestly its just gone crazy.

1 grand for an item-thats a month of bills for me.
The whole morale over there is quickly declining- some are comparing it to how TM was.

Yep, they sold angelic halos for an amazing sum of $1000. People actually bought it.

I have almost completely left Gaia as I do not agree with how the are running it anymore.

Well, people are welcome to come here instead, but Gaia has so much stuff that we'd only appeal to a small minority, I think. Those who miss how Gaia used to be a long time ago.

That was an interesting site about neopets.

It has been a long time since I did much of anything there besides log in and see what the site was like once in a blue moon randomly after years of forgetting about it.

I only played neopets much when I had first joined in '97 or '98 or something.




I like avatar forums much better now since I get to interact with people.

Gaia is one of the forums I am on a lot.

I have seen those threads and others like them. The state gaia is in now is sad. I hope gaia calms down with all these sales and fixes the inflation soon. There are a lot of players there who say they are leaving or not buying cash.

Agreed. I hope Lanzer sees this as a threat.

I actually haven't been on Gaia in a long, long time. And to be honest, I was weary of joining this site because I thought it would be another Gaia.

I'm proud to say that I have never been so happy to be proven wrong. I loved Gaia back in the early 2000's when everything was simple and easy, and the site wasn't so money hungry.

That is fucking ridiculous and I am not surprised to be honest. I left Gaia in 2008 because of the shit they were pulling with their cash shop. It was utterly ridiculous then but a grand for a fucking Halo?! LOLOL

And they dont care about people quitting. They just get more users to buy stuff. That is all it is. The cash shop main contributors are their bread and butter.. and corvette.. They could give to shits about the ones who don't donate.

They don't give any for the people that do, either : / Two of my friends were banned when we were all active on Gaia (2006). Both of them for receiving bugged gold; one from an anon donation, one when someone bought something from her in the MP. Both these ladies donated every month, one a lot as she bought the plushies and so on, and she'd buy those wings (can't remember their name) and sell them in the MP to fund her questing, as well as numerous MIs every month.

Both of them sent reams of evidence proving they didn't know the people they'd got the gold from (though knowing what I do know, Gaia's staff would have easily been able to ascertain that anyway). Neither of them ever heard anything back...

When Gaia did the Halo thing, was not the first I have heard of Avy sites sealing old CI's for lots of money. I remember being on a few smaller ones that were selling the past ones for $100+, but a grand was way to much. I believe it was 17 people total who bought one.

Ever since a friend of mine got asked to leave the company and had been there for evers, been giving me less of a reason to go on. I mainly supported the site due to friends working there, but this whole thing with the recent CEO has pissed me off.

I actually got recommended to come over to mene by someone I know on Gaia, haha.

I'm a pretty active lurker in the Site Feedback there, and all the recent changes have just made me want to quit Gaia entirely. In addition to the massive increase in the prices in the Cash Shop (and not to mention the even more expensive stuff in Club Verge), they're literally selling gold for money and completely wrecking the economy with Flynn's Booty, or whatever it's called. Not cool. :/

That said, I actually didn't mind the halo price tag. I mean, that's pretty the only way they could have released it without mass rereleasing it. What I really didn't like was some of the admin's justification for the price tag: "It's cheaper than buying gold with real money and buying a halo with your gold that way!"

I came to mene because gaia user Its Meark and I needed a new community. Plus, someone hoarded my old Player Kite username, so I decided to just come here under a new moniker.

Frankly, the new push for cash has me a little bit distraught, as the new CEO seems to be applying tactics that you would to a cash cow, such as candy crush, 4 pics one word, and the like. These actions have essentially pushed me away from a site that I once loved and called home. I used to buy cash monthly, and take part in events. Now, I can't be arsed to even read announcements, and find myself basically handing out all of my gold in the art auctions forum so that I don't have any reason to come back.

The halo thing never bothered me, mainly because I just didn't care, but all the other MCs getting re-released definitely shoved a sock full of bees up my butt.

I liked Gaia a lot, really. I was super involved, had a huge fish tank, I was very in to it. But I loved the Mene community. And when it comes time to come back to things, I usually come back to Mene.

Hey guys! CEO is cutting the events on Gaia! It reminds of the easter event!

I have been checking on Gaia to see if they were gonna do a Valentine event, but I haven't been able to find anything about an event.
I guess it will just be a buy this or that from the cash shop as an event. [:(]

No Valentine or Gaia Anniversary event there. The new CEO did not give Uncle Kenny the time and resources to make the events, and Kenny just got a new job elsewhere in the country with another company.
