LAME. One of my friends got hacked. :o I don't think she gets on much anymore--but I like her.

Only half-funny thing is that the hacker PMed me and is attempting to be friendly with me.... Even after making it clear that he/she/it isn't my friend, and in fact stole my friend's account. :? Yeees, that makes me like you a lot. In crazy-land.

I also found it really odd that they release the gold sink donation items and then change the NPC pictures so that half of them no longer have what they gave out on. XD

Yup. The Rufus ears & tail, the Ruby's bonnet, and Moria's wig were my favorite SOS event items.

Wow I am really disapointed with most of the changes they made to the art though I am glad that Sasha is now wearing proper clothing. I wish they hadn't changed Moira's hair though. The characters just lost their whole persona. Ruby should be selling only hats to Y.Y (tis trully correct when it was said that people reject change)

I dunno, I barely check announcments on gaia at all anymore. In fact if I was to be honest I don't check them. I rarely go on at all because I just got tired of always staying in one thread and not having the guts to go out and join the community.

Most of the community on Gaia doesn't seem to be worth joining...

Thats true, I like a site with a bit of community and will normally stick with the smaller ones so that it is acheivable. Mene is actually the bigest site that I am active on at the moment.

It's not too bad in certian areas. I've run into some overall great people in various places. But sometimes you need to wade through a lot of stupid to find anything worthwhile.

I found a home on Gaia pretty easily -- B&C. It's by far the forum with the fewest amount of idiots and some of the best writers I've ever encountered. :D I'm happy to call B&C my home forum, and though I may not be terribly active over there, I always feel welcome in the B&C threads.

If you can get into a nice B&C group, then I agree with you there. :3 I had a very positive experience some years back when I worked for a B&C shop as a staff character, but sadly it went under some months later due to RL busyness for the owners.

I wanted to get back into a different shop, but I found it a little difficult. I actually won a writing competition for a "pet" in an upcoming shop, but that one collapsed before it began. XD I guess I have bad luck. The other ones I was interested in, I just didn't have the gold for or they had advanced so much that the community was quite closed-knit, so I didn't feel very welcome to intrude.

In the end I came here. My friends kept talking about making their own shop, which I would have been happy to help with, but it's never come to fruition.

Um... I haven't been on Gaia long enough, evidently.

What's B&C?

B&C = Breedables & Changing Pets.

I tend to like the humanoid characters though... Not so much the animals.

I have to say that I don't really RP most of my characters anymore (even though I have a WHOLE BUNCH), just because I have a serious lack of time. But the Edelsteine shop has me entirely! My Plague god, Sh'khin is my favorite OC ever, and he's sooo much fun to RP and write for. I'm also planning a second god -- or goddess rather -- of Hallucination. :D I've gotta snag a custom slot to get her though and that's 2.5 million gold. Thank god I have random old donation items sitting around to use. XP

Anyway, the shop is really active, and all of the RPers LOVE writing and are fantastic at it. :D The setting and concept is really cool (gods being reborn into host bodies), and there's always exciting metaplot going on for the most part. And the artwork is fantastic. It's -the best-.

A lot of the shops I was involved in slowed down a lot and there's hardly any activity in them. That's when I lose interest. :(

See, I've never had that kind of gold. XD I was lucky I had an "in" as a staff member or I never could have afforded a slot at the Aekaeva shop I used to be a part of.

And I agree, I prefer humanoid characters definitely. I really don't know how I would RP an animal sort of character, not if it didn't have very humaniod characteristics. Playing the role of owner, rather than the character itself, never has appealed to me. But it's also kind of awkward to think of humanoid characters as "breedables". XD

I'll have to check it out. I didn't even know there was anything like that there.

@Ferra: Well, I've managed to save and horde a lot over the years and I've been donating since 2004, so I've got quite a stash saved up. I'm questing DJs, but since that's a pretty lofty goal, I have to buy other stuff here and there. XD

I ran my own B&C shop for awhile -- The Furies: Chaos Children. Then I got too busy to maintain everything, so I had to close down. I had fun coloring and doing customs though, even though I wasn't terribly good at it. :D People seemed to like them anyway. XP

I have a few animal pets, but I never RP them because I know nothing about how to RP an animal. XD But yeah, I agree that thinking about humanoid creatures as 'pets' is strange. All of my humanoid characters have guardians that take care of them as they grow up and whatnot -- except for the Edel shop that is. But that's a totally different concept and is more about the evolution of a character than their 'growing up.'

I only really like Moira's wig out of the gold sink items. My mule bought Sasha's lei from the MP for 700 gold, but I'm not overly impressed with how it looks. I equiped the wig on my main though, it looks cool with my outfit xD

After some extensive research on the Gaian economy, we're going to start doing some tweaks to balance out the Gold-granting system. You may notice some changes early next week, but nothing extreme: you'll be earning a little more Gold for some activities and a little less Gold for others. We're aiming to balance the Gold system to keep inflation from getting out of hand-- we know a lot of people have been concerned about it, and it's among our top priorities.

They really go in for the "best late than never" method in a big way, don't they?

Gaia's active artist community was the reason I joined in the first place. When the site was just known for RP I just thought, 'what cute kiddies.'

I bought Sasha's lei for my mule also for 200 gold. It goes very well with the color scheme on her, green, aqua, fuschia and the dark elf skin left over from Halloween.
