...I still really like Gaia's avatars >_> Yes, now that I've gotten into Menewsha, I find myself really wanting/craving certain items and item styles in Gaia, but both sites are still equal in my mind =3
|
I always hated the hands on gaia and I hated that the avatars had no neck. It made me reluctant to wear any of the neck items that they did offer because when you put them on it just seemed to highlight the fact.
When I first joined Menewsha I was shocked, mainly because people actually talked to eachother but that the avatars actually looked nice and because you didn't have to pay for the hair. It was for that reason that I didn't mind my avatar being naked for a number of months. |
Whoever wrote that article clearly did no research at all! lol. Once again, some idiot spreading misinformation around, way to go! Isn't Habbo full of tweens? I've not known any adult actually genuinely use it, only people who troll.
|
Gaia's avatar are ok with me, though I didn't like how they didn't have necks and how the male avatars are extremely chubby-looking. I think they made them too chibi, I much prefer Mene's avatars, with proper necks and all. <3
|
Yeah, it was weird. It acted like Gaia was just a game and that the "in-game currency" was Gaia Cash. XD I pulled out the page because it had a list of some sites I wanted to see.
And yeah, there've got to be more teens on Gaia than Habbo. |
I just came from Gaia. I do have to say the avis here are much better in appearance, but I like gaia for several other reasons, maybe because I been on since 2004. I like to give art so as long as I can draw for someone, I am happy with any avatar site.
|
I've always considered Habbo the ugly pixel version of IMVU. It has that feel of types of teenagers that frequent it. Of course, IMVU also has a lot more actual adults, many of whom are married.
But yeah, Gaia's necks are disturbing, and the hands are weird XD And most of the shoes make the feet look weird o_o (Especially the new trend in heeled shoes. It's like the wicked stepmother took a whack at it or something) |
Sooooo Gaia's MC's came out yesterday and..... there is one that bears a striking reseblance to our very own Peacock Regalia!!
I actually think this is one of the BEST and PRETTIEST items that Gaia has put out in a rather long time. The colors are so rich. And it's... omg... NOT AN EVOLVING ITEM! Thats what I hate most about Gaia. The expensive evolving items that generally dont' even look that good... but they get so much more attention than the MC's. Anyways... yeah. I generaly don't go to Gaia anymore... just sort of check in to catch up on items and things and make sure my little guy looks good. I can't bring myself to just quit. Someday I'm just going to guve everything away, methinks. But everytime I try..... I just.... can't.... let..... go.... |
lol, the new MC really strikes me stunt. XD
Look so much like Menewsha's peacock... |
Just popped over to Gaia to see their peacock item - you're right, it does look a lot like the Peacock Regalia! It's gorgeous. I like that there's a peacock included. :3
Sorta makes me wish I was active on Gaia still. But... nope! Don't wanna go back. xD |
I liked the new peacock MC as well, though I haven't checked the price on the Marketplace yet, I'm considering on throwing my gold out for one...even if it'll clash horribly with my avatar...xD;
|
They pulled off the peacock item pretty well over there, at least they were careful enough to not copy any of the poses on our item XD;
I thought the Evolving Item update was pretty lame u__u for the Reve Rouille, wow, we get a curtain and a cape where all you can see is a string of pixels unless you turn your avatar around, yay? And the Gogh Reed's evo was... different xD I suppose I would like it more if it had more male-suitable items >>; The llama is funny though xD I decided to try it out, just for kicks, so I thres on any random item I could find that was in a color of the rainbow xD http://i43.tinypic.com/29oq4cx.png |
I like the peacock item... so rather than wait to see if the price will go down in the MP, I went ahead and bought it...
The peacock mask is really cool... |

I really love the peacock collectible item, too. |
Crep's! Your avi is so cute!
I'm glad that I'm not the only one who was a bit "what the..." about the Goh Reed and Rev updates. The earlier poses thus far have been pretty cool though. Am digging the Hera items, not so much with the lash. |
URG *throws many a sharp object gaia's way*
My boyfriend got hacked last night - we still don't even know who would target someone who hasn't posted in the forums for over a year and makes a couple of posts a day in a hidden guild - and its been hell trying to find a mod to disable his trades until the hacking report went through (although the items may of already been sold off xP). Seriously, we spend a good portion of sleeping time trying to firstly find a mod online, and get a reply. It must of been like 20 we tried, they either ignored or told us off for contacting them through a PM :gonk: how the fuck else are we suppose to get the trading disabled? Bunch of retarted kids. Finally we got through to one who was able to do it xP But my god i didn't realise what a pathetic moderating team they had :gonk: maybe im just so use to great service from other sites now, but jesus, i don't understand why it would of been so hard for some of them to just disable it instead of sending back useless PMs, it would of been quicker :gonk: We got a reply from the person who suposibly recieved a trade from the account and sold off all the items already >.<; Yet the thing is said items are still equipped onto the avatar of the hacked account. I know like in 2005 there was a glitch where you could move items and still wear them, but it has since then been fixed. Do you guys recon they are still on there and this person is lying or could possibly be the hacker? O.o; Unfortuently I can't find a mod that knows xP let alone check the account for me because im not him  |
Yikes!
Now I'm really worried about being hacked there! |
OH NO!!! that sucks a LOT!
I can't believe how UNHELPFUL they were being to you, since your request sounded so rational. I guess thats what you get when you have a bunch of people who look at modship as an elite title rather than an actual POSITION. shame, shame. I really hope that it all gets sorted out for you as quickly as possible, and I wish the best for you in getting his things back., Man, that sucks. |
Its just so fustrating how terrible some of their moderators are O.o; We wasn't asking them to fix the hacking right away, just to stop whoever is using the account to trade everything off until the case is looked into
I didn't really believe everything people said about the mods on gaia, i thought it was just a generalisation, but after experiencing it first hand, its really something i never want to do again xP |
I once had a friend who was a mod on gaia and since he was a friend if ever I saw something that was a bit hmmm I would report to him. However he would often grumble that it was not his area or something and that would get me kinda annoyed. I understand the whole going through areas thing but I think that if you get a report directly to you well then you should act on it and it shouldn't be based on if that is your department or what not.

It might depend on how their staff hierarchy is set up.
Here, our moderators have forums assigned to them to patrol, but they can also take care of anything they see or that is reported in any forum. They are not penalized nor are eyebrows raised in any way for that. If something deals with a forum they're not as familiar with (say, the art forums), they bring it up in the staff room or ask someone they know is good at working that forum to take care of it. On other sites, they may get in trouble for working outside their "jurisdiction" or it may not count towards their quota (which I heard Gaia mods have). |
I think I prefer Mene's way.
When I staffed on Zaff we never had a forum we had to patrol simply because it just wasn't busy enough to require it. However that whole thing with being penalised for working outside of your jurisdiction is rediculous. What would it be like if I was at work in a supermarket (where I do work) and because I was on checkouts I told a customer to go away when they asked if I could check to see if we had any of 'x' item left. Bleh makes so little sense to me. |
When my mule was hacked, I went through the same deal. >__>; It took me forever to find an online moderator, so by the time she finally froze my trades on that account, everything was gone (I was online at the time my account was breached, but I was kicked off and they changed the email and password).

We could set things up like that here, but it seems plain stupid to me, so all of our mods are Global. Totally rediculous to have a report come in and not be able to deal with it because you don't have permissions for the forum it's relating to. Especially if it's something bad like a porn troll, and all you can do is sit and look at it until someone who mods that forum or an AA gets on : / I really do NOT see any kind of sense in restricting the areas where a mod can do their job. Assigning them forums is only sensible, but preventing them from being able to mod anywhere else is beyond stupid. |
