I agree - i like gaia, but there are a lot of annoying people on there and i have WAY better conversations on here than on gaia. I think it's because everyone on here is very mature and they behave and say things that reflect that

Stormy Sonata 09-30-2009 03:36 AM

Eh, I love both. I like gaia better though, it's alot easier to earn gold, for one thing. And to me, the site is easier to navigate, or at least used to be before they updated everything.

But I agree, there are alot less rude people on here.

Erailea 09-30-2009 11:54 AM

Gaia has become a crass and unpleasant place in the last two or three years. I remember when it was a nice pleasant place back in 2003, it was rare to find anyone who was a prat. No, everywhere you turn you find one.

Not to mention Gaia has become highly cash oriented in the last year or so. They seem to have forgotten the whole point (and starting place) of the site - to be fun and FREE. Practiaclly all the items they make these days have to be bought with cash or bought for outragous amounts in the market place from users who have spent the cash :/

Hollyshort 09-30-2009 12:05 PM

I still spend time in Gaia considering the sheer amount of content you have there to work on. But I spend a lot of time here too to roleplay, along with to just talk with other people.

I too remember Gaia long ago, I loved it!

If you want to discuss Gaia, or Gaia vs. Menewsha, you should actually post in this thread:
http://www.menewsha.com/forum/commun...2070-gaia.html

I'm going to merge these two threads together, since this has turned into more of a discussion about Gaia, and not Menewsha. :D

Ahaha I still login to gaia from time to time. I have like 3 accounts. xD
I used to be so into roleplaying but haven't done so for long time. It's just that the rps aren't interesting, the people bore me, they start to die out, or a combination of those.

Erailea 10-01-2009 01:30 AM

Haha. I only RP'd back when I first joined Gaia in 2003 then did it only in a "Guild" (as far as guild's went without actually being called them back then) until about 2004, but that was off and on. I haven't RP'd since then. Never was much into it for whatever reason.

I think I'm a 04 member, can't exactly remember.
It was definetly WAY better back then. There was no marketplace so there was no inflation, there were fewer n00bs and fewer mules, and it really all was about the forums. Now it's the games and the towns and stuff. Those things can be fun, I'll admit. But after a while it gets old so all you do is log on to feed your stupid fish. I was considered 'rich' so I'd get n00bs writing me, 'you have two katana's, please give me one!!' only in less understandable english and with lots of gramatical errors. I'll admit I have trouble spelling sometimes, but man... nothing beat those n00bs at that! It reminded me of a few n00bs on an old naruto forum that I went to (before naruto became stupid) that had a bunch of n00bs that would hit on me. now THAT was gross. ok, that was a strange rant, but my point is.. there are too many n00bs everywhere, but it seems as though they hardly even exist here! that makes me happy. lol :O

I really dislike gaia now! Now you can buy (with gaia cash) two numbers in that lottery they are doing. I am seriously going to spend all my time on Mene. I know they need money to keep the site up but this has really upset me.

I love gaia but its true they want all ur money. They have forgotten about their users and worry more about lining their pockets. its upseting that for the people of gaia who can't afford to blow really money on virtual items are left out.

Macabeak 10-01-2009 08:09 PM

The only thing I dislike about Gaia is how much people complain about everything, especially the damn Gaia Cash.

They have to keep the site running SOMEHOW. Consider how huge that site is, and how many servers it takes to keep it running smoothly, without "sushi errors". The site also still does tons of stuff for free that they really didn't have to do for its users - like the recent Back to School event. Not to mention, it's a POLICY that they have a gold shop update every single month, and there are absolutely no items that can't be bought without gold. If they really wanted to be greedy, they would make everything you buy with Gaia Cash soulbound.

I actually feel really bad for the developers, because nothing they do seems to satisfy the site. There's always some loud bitchfest going on about basically everything. They give us something original, and then there's complaints about how Gaia seems to be running out of ideas, how it's horrible, boring, doesn't work... They give us something that was popular because people saying "we want THIS, not THAT", and people complain that they're being unoriginal, using old ideas, and that they're tired of the same old crap.

I think it's amazing that the developers haven't quit and been replaced by people who just churn out the pixels without putting any love into them.

Erailea 10-01-2009 08:24 PM

they key problem with the Cash Shop is they only pay attention to it. Its rare to have store updates these days. they're only around massive events, if your lucky. And Gaia make plenty of money, between the MC's and the merchandise store they have a lot going for them (especally now that the Cash Cards have come into play). They aren't overly supportive of their non-cash buying members anymore (even when the shops are updated the items plunked in there are usually at off the wall high costs)

And as crazy as that site may get I just think they're lazy half the time. I remember when word bump was nearly offline (no gold granting at all and was glitch to hell - still is sort of) for nearly a year before they sat down and fixed the damn thing. Fishing has been having massive glitches in it for nearly 2 years!

Gaia's main and massive problem is they are so ready to charge ahead they forget to put out the fires erupting behind them, which eventually add up and crash the entire site (already this year the site was almost completely offline twice). Everytime you take leaps you get glitches popping up and most of them are given a blind eye or put on "low priority" so they can keep leaping forward until the next massive site crash.

Not to mention they're highly ban happy these days (I know that for a fact because many people I know who rarely go on and when they do they're just playing games) get banned on claims like scamming. LAME! And I know they're not botting or doing anything wrong for that matter.

The whole power pick thing to use real money to buy a chance to get gold really made me upset!

The problem is, this is a POLICY Gaia made. It's not in some general avatar site contract. Gaia can decide NOT to update the gold shop, like they have done. There have been months without gold shop updates.

And sometimes, the updates really only consist of an item set or two.

You wasn't the only one that was upset; I was also upset. It makes no sense how Gaia is being taken over by real money. Every week or so there's a new evolving item. I understand we need some people to support the site and buy Gaia cash, but does it have to be so often. I started going to the 7-11 near where I live to buy Gaia cash but I stopped like after using 50 bucks at once; which is just crazy.

Now I just came from school and decided to log on to Gaia and seen they have some new stores which is pretty cool; some new items. But there's this other store where the items are worth more then a million gold.....lol yup a million. I guess when people know the items are rare they'll try the jackpot thing and buying Gaia cash.

Thank god for Menewsha I still like Gaia because I did work hard to get the items that I do have but Menewsha is a bit more fair than Gaia. That's what I think at least.

Lady Luck Infinity 10-02-2009 01:25 AM

And they put the best artwork into those1 mil plus items.

Well I liked the chinese stuff in the new shops buy god I do not want to pay 6 million gold for something. It breeds elitism. Now i personally think the gold sink could have been solved by making Zomg power ups a gold optional purchane or heavan forbid un soul bind them.

Erailea 10-02-2009 01:41 AM

OMG, I can't tell if Gaia hit an all time low with that million+ shop or not. On one hand it's a mighty nice gold sink, on the other that's just uncool. I just hope they don't turn all their shop updates into that shop and the cash shop. Because seriously, this shop update they made (in the normal shops) is the smallest shop update I have seen on Gaia since they went cooperate in about 2005. It's really sad. They made it seem big because they added two stores, but everything (minus a very very small handful of items) were taken out of the other shops.

Kaema 10-02-2009 02:05 AM

I think with the power pick and the million+ gold shop means that Gaia has hit an all time low...but I won't see it's hit rock bottom because who knows what they'll do next? :(
I'm glad Menewsha isn't going in the same direction. ^_^

Dest1218 10-02-2009 02:14 AM

I joined gaia about a year ago - then stopped for about a year and i recently started getting on
I'm still a bit of a noob, but i love playing ZOMG (I have an 8.4 Cl Woot!) and doing puzzles - in fact i've done all the puzzles gaia has on atleast the level with 70 pieces. I'm also almost addicted to blackjack :P

Lady Luck Infinity 10-02-2009 02:25 AM

I like Black Jack, Pinball and Zommg. Plus the massive amounts of items. *sigh* I just really wish the item sets had been bigger this time- the girls set has no shoes.

Erailea 10-02-2009 02:48 AM

For whatever reason I never really liked zOMG. I was one of the beta testers and I thought it was lame from the first day I played it. Probably because I've played a lot of MMO's and zOMG just didn't hold up to the entertainment of the other free one's I'd play. But I think the main and biggest problem I had with it was it wasn't anything new or ground breaking. It was the same old same old, so to speak. I remember the Admins talking about wanting to do an MMO since late 03 early 04 and then from about 05 on they kept hinting to it "coming soon." ...ah... correct me if I'm wrong, but three years later isn't "coming soon" :/ And then for like a year and a half before it came out they were repeatedly (like once every 2-3 months) saying "MMO, look out for it in the future". So for the amount of time they took to make it, it really wasn't anything great.

Just my opinion though.

Princess_Marie 10-02-2009 02:54 AM

I was off and on Gaia for a longgg time I was about 11? 12? when I first joined and now i'm 16 but I really feel that site has gone down hill, I remember when the general discussion was well, general and porn spam wasn't everywhere.

Lady Luck Infinity 10-02-2009 03:10 AM

I'm a pretty lame gamer, Zomg is easy and relaxing for me so meh. Yes it took a long time but with it going coperate no wonder the mmo got pushed aside for so long.

Princess_Marie 10-02-2009 03:15 AM

^ Zomg is sorta fun and the games and the whole I don't know what to call it but the neighboorhood thing is nice too, I used to even like the forums. I just wish that most of the people on Gaia would grow up a bit, epscially the whole nudes for gold things ugh. I understand the cash shop though, sites need money to run though the donation item of the month I liked a bit more than the actual cash thing.

Gaians Who Moved To Menewsha

For those of you who stumbled upon Gaia at it's early age, you might see some similarities in the growing realm of Menewsha. One question remains posed in our minds I feel. Will Menewsha end up the same as Gaia? A complete mess? Share your thoughts and worries about the maturation and growth of Menewsha.
