I used to spend SO MUCH time on Gaia! Someone showed me Mene a while ago and I logged on but it didn't catch on with me for a long time.
But I really don't go on Gaia anymore. I got so tired of it. There are so many people... so much spam and inflation. There isn't much of a community around anymore, a lot of the people I used to know around have quit and gone on to live their lives. I like Mene much better now. I dont spend a WHOLE lot of time here because I'm busy with college apps and stuff, but I like it much more than gaia. The last time I logged on to Gaia was several, several months ago. |
I have some catching up to do.
First off, I was off-put by the Golden Fleece item, but I actually grew to like it. o-o The horns are awesome-possum. Really loved the Will-o-the-Wisp. XD I also noticed the PMs today. o-o I'm always the good guy, so I'm very curious to what Gaia is up to... If the battle event is just as awesome as it was two years ago, I'm all for it. =D I'm also ready of sleepless nights of battles. XD |
menewsha is not better!there is only 7 games and all u do is forums gaia is wayy better u start out with clothes and u can earn gold quicker |
Really, despite the fact that I am here in Menewsha and really love how close-knit the people are, I still go to Gaia and haven't abandoned my avatar there. I have been in Gaia since 2005, and I could still remember the days when earning money was like earning money here. I remember the days that there were no ads, and when Gaia was really just very simple like this place.
And simplicity is the good thing. When I came back in 2008 and saw all this madness about cash shops, I thought "wow, Gaia's gotten really popular since I've been here last" and when I realized that I could pay money to look good rather than work my butt off like I did three years ago, my view of Gaia just went down drastically. I started meeting newbies that looked like members that had been there forever, until they'd ask something like "how do you use the forums?" and when I'd ask them how long they'd been there, they'd say that this was their second day there. It was all just very saddening. I've never used Gaia cash to this day, and my fortune's grown. I believe that's how everyone should do it. I also heard older members speak of the times when mods actually talked to members as well, and weren't high and mighty corporate gods that we'd never be able to talk to lest I have a problem of some sort or if my post was deleted. I love how I manage to experience the feeling of being in posts that moderators are in as well and socialize with them like normal people. Regardless, there are some things about Gaia that I still love---the marketplace, for example. It works like a real stock market, and it has its ups and downs like one as well. Also, yes, the item variety. Menewsha, I have to admit, doesn't have as many items as Gaia does, even if the prices vary. That, and the fact that I have friends in Gaia that I would never leave. |

I at first dislike the items, but the golden fleece is kinda cutee.....-hugs sheep-
|
I didn't care for their summer camp thing.
Is that the sort of thing they're going to be doing for the Halloween event? I spend most of my time on Mene during events, with little time to spare for the other sites. |
gaia is rele awsm!

You don't have to talk like you're on a cell phone around here, Pixie.
Actually, it's to your benefit to "speak" correctly. You'll make more gold that way. |

I'm selling all my items on Gaia, I just got tired of it.

I have to say that I've been on Gaia since 04 or 05 ( I forget when ), and this is very reminiscent of old Gaia, back when it felt really tight knit. Now Gaia's just trying to suck cash out of it's users. They don't care about the non-paying or unable-to-pay users. They even treat their paying users poorly. I have seen maybe 5 staff posts in my whole time at Gaia, meanwhile in 2 days on mene I've seen 10 or more. It really seems like Gaia doesn't care about it's users anymore.
|
I'm getting lazy about posting on Gaia. :/ I'm just logging on to take care of my fish and Daily Chance carts. And probably will keep an eye out for annoucements. XD; (I haven't given up my Mini Angel Wings quest... >w>;; )

The others have just been okay. |
I gave up on Gaia. After 6+ years on it the items started costing more and more. Now you can hardly get anything good without spending real monies to get pixels that some one can easily hack. Then Again... I did get hacked like twice... and it seemed like god-modding was a contagious disease in the same family as the T-virus.... so that ruined it for me. It wasn't worth the time and effort I put into it in the end.

The new donation items aren't my thing. I do like the floating orbs on the Will O' Wisp, but I'm still broke from buying Uncanny Form in the marketplace last month. >.>
Besides, I would rather save up for Nitemare, Reve, and Biancamella. |
I kind of like the Will-o-the-Wisp, but I still don't know if I'd buy it. The only thing I like about the fleece one is the sheep, but I rarely use animals on my avatar, so it'd be a waste of gold to buy XP

Gaia's Monthly Collectible Items are getting kind of sucky. ^^;
I mean, I liked the Uncanny Form and Nightmare Sash, but those were the first good ones in quite some time.. the fleece and wisp each have one good pose, but I don't think that makes them overly great items. And the cash shop angers me. I don't want to pay real money for items like that, and I'll never be able to afford them even though I've been on Gaia for about five years... |
The fact that Mene allows you to wear any or all of the poses of an item is the best thing in the world, as far as I'm concerned.
I wish Gaia were the same... but that's asking too much from a money-hungry site like that. |
Mid '05 was when I joined Gaia, I believe... I quit Gaia nearly two years ago. Why? Inflation. Dream avatars are absolutely impossible. I purchased my KiKi at 200,000g. Then they added that fee to the Marketplace? The very next week the price literally doubled. For any current users of Gaia, please note the price of a KiKi now is over half a million gold.
Gaia is definitely overrun with a different crowd than it began with. And its a crowd I'd like to disassociate myself from. I agree with Jelly about the childish nature of its users, regardless of their real age. Because guess what? You could lie and say you got banned for something other than what you really got banned for. Or your childish friends who hate you could childishly report you for something you didn't do. And the mods would believe them. With no proof. Hence, ban at the drop of a hat. It happened to several of my friends. Most of them are still putting up with Gaia, though. I'm not. But it's not for that reason that I left. I never really used the forums on Gaia to begin with. Lack of literacy. I don't speak noob. I prefer people who type like they have an education, thx. (I'll use shortcuts in my speech, too... but at least I start my sentences with a capital letter and end each one in a period. JEESH.) |
I go on Gaia quite a lot. I do make gold there but I don't post often. On here I can barley make gold but that's just how much motivation I have. xD Though Gaia has gone down the drain it just seems much more fun to watch it go down and downer. :)

Right now, it's not looking like it, but I'm not gonna say, "Mene isn't gonna go down that road." You never know what's gonna happen, ya know? All I know is, I hope it doesn't. Gaia became a money-craving site, and the people there are just...horrible. And the sad thing is, the mods don't do anything about it. The most cooperation I've gotten from a mod was when I was hacked and they replaced my gold and items. But even then, when I sent in the hack report, I gave them the username and they said it wasn't enough info. Luckily, I saw something like this coming and provided a screenshot. But I'm sure with the community as it is now and as the mod and administration are, Mene won't be that way....for a long time. |
