So I have a school laptop. They had us install a security update, and now I can't get into my own drabbles. Anyone know a way around this??

Are the drabbles on your hard-drive or on the internet?

If on the internet:
If the computer is owned by the school and is connected to the school's network (or district network depending on how your school handles that), then the security update probably came with a lot of blocked websites. Schools block websites for all sorts of reasons (usually without really checking them out).

If that's the case, then you will have to ask a teacher who you have to make an appeal to unlock the website. Good luck with that.

On a hard-drive:
If your stories are actually in a file on your hard-drive, then you can probably ask a teacher (or anyone with admin access) to unlock the file.

Depending on how much control you have over the security, you might be able to alter the settings. Although if your drabbles are on your computer hard-drive I don't know why any security would block it automatically.

This actually belongs in the Computers subforum of Media, so I'm going to move it over there.

Hopefully you can get some good answers/solutions.

It's on the computer... they said they blocked that page because it was "adult"... probably because I used some language, whereas I could get into a drabble list that used the F-word flamboyantly.
I could probably get my English teacher to email it to me... I wouldn't be able to get a teacher to unlock it with admin rights because I only go to school online. And most of my teachers live in different states than me. (And my English teacher likes me anyway... she's in charge of the writing club.)

You're probably going to have to ask for the code then. If I were you I'd print everything out as soon as possible so you can keep a record of your work incase something like this happens again. You might also consider investing some money in a personal computer so you don't have to rely on the school for it. =\
