My grad school thesis is on DeviantArt, and I need to do some research, as you could probably guess. If you are DeviantArt, and are ACTIVE (as in you've done something in the last two weeks), I'd REALLY appreciate it if you answer these questions.


So here are the questions:


1. If you are a premium member, why did you decide to become one?
2. If you are NOT a premium member, why aren't you one?
3. Were you, at one point, a premium member? if so, when? Why didn't you renew?

4. Do you read art/photography/fashion (not shopping)/design/etc. print magazines?

5. Is the current price point of 4.95/mo, 29.95/year fair for Premium membership on DeviantArt?
6. If your favorite monthly glossy art magazine was suddenly paired with premium subscription to DeviantArt, which of these would be a fair price for the subscription?

4.95/mo; 29.95/year (no change)
4.95/mo; 39.95/year
5.95/mo; 39.95/year
5.95/mo; 44.95/year

7. Would you become a premium member of DeviantArt, if your favorite art magazine was paired with a subscription?

8. If someone you follow (and I mean REALLY follow) on DeviantArt was featured in an art magazine, would you find that magazine and read the article? Would you buy it? What if, packaged with that art magazine, was a DeviantArt premium membership for one month? For one year?

9. If a real-life friend was featured in an art magazine, would you find that magazine and read the article? Would you buy it? Again, what if a premium membership came with the purchase of that magazine?

10. Do you view Daily Deviations?
11. If so, how often?
12. Is it whenever you log on?
13. How often do you log on?
14. Would you be interested if DD artists offered video tutorials regarding technique (say, for example, if a DD photographer offered a video demo on studio lighting)?

1. Not a premium member~
2.(not) Because I don't like spending money on sites TAT
3. Yes~ Through contests XD I didn't renew because, as stated previously,
I don't like spening money on sites D:

4. No, I do not read any of those types of magazines

5. I'm not sure... It does kind of seem expensive for only a few quirks
(as much as I love stamps TT__TT )
6. no idea o_o I'm not good with money/math orz
but I think that dA would like some extra money? .w.
I feel like either of the two are getting ripped off D:

7. I don't read art magazines XD but sure I guess?

8. Would I read it? I think so X3 I might buy it. And if the membership came free with it, I might buy it (but I have no idea how much these "Art magazines" cost o__o if it was a rip-off/ I could get the membership cheaper through dA, why would I?

I don't want to waste my money on it, even if it adds some intresting advantages.

There was an offer that made me "taste the joy" of being premium for a while, it was many years ago. I didn't renew 'cause I didn't want to spend money.

No, they're mostly pretentious boring pieces of crap I don't really enjoy reading.

Yep! It's quite the average site membership fee.

No, since I DON'T have a favourite art magazine, I hate 'em!

I'd probably do it out of friendship. I'd probably buy it, but just for the number he/she appeared in, I'd be very proud of him/her. But I wouldn't want to be spammed with other numbers of crap from that magazine. No matter the deviantart subscription, that is only another thing I can easely live without.

Only if I'm extremely bored.

Once in 6 years

No. When I login I check my pages and my watch.

Once a week approximately. I used to be much more regular but I don't have time anymore.

They already do, do they?

Alright, let's have a go at this :D...

1. Because I like having my page all pretty, there are great perks and it's way cheap. :D

4. My sister an I like to pick up ImagineFX every one in a while. :)

5. Very fair!

6. The third one maybe? My fav art magazine is pretty expensive!

7. I already am a premium member, but I'd still stay one as long as it didn't get too pricey!

8. YES, I would buy it for sure (and I have someone in mind here! :lol:) Even if it didn't come with a membership!

9. Again, undoubtedly yes! :) I would buy it.

10. Usually I take a quick look.

11. Not sure really, it'sa bit erratic.

13. Fairly often mostly, but I'm taking a break from the site now so at the moment quite rarely.

14. If it's a technique I'm interested in and if I had time to look at it, sure!
