A flurry of notes from a fragile man turns into a sforzando of passionate expression put into Eternal Sonata. This game takes place just before Fredrick Chopin passes from this life to the afterlife. It's beautifully animated characters are unforgettable with a story that will warm your heart. A middle aged man, taken before his time, is struggling with accepting death ultimately. Through this parrallel world Chopin befriends characters that all have names pertaining to musical terms or instruments. The story begins as Polka, the herione of the game, is prepared to make the ultimate sacrfice for the person she loves the most then takes you back earlier to when she was back in a small town called Ritardando(gradually slow down in Italian) selling floral powder that is supposed to be a multipurpose remedy, but unfortunately due to this new mineral powder that is flooding the market for much cheaper, she is unsuccessful in selling any. After a breif encounter healing a man through magical means she possesses, she is ostricized for being sick and having that ability and leaves the town depressed that she will not ever be able to make any friends. Polka is 14 and is supposed to represent Chopin's sisster who died in real life of turbercolocious.
Frederick meets Polka and decides to accompany her to Forte to see count Waltz because everything but mineral powder is being taxed. The story turns into a heart wrenching story about friendship, loyalty, acceptance, and love.

This is a game well worth having, but get the PS3 version, it has more content.

I love this game! I think I have it for Xbox, though. I thought it was cute how everything was named after musical things. :lol:

DX haha If I didn't know/like Chopin already, this game would've done it. Seeing as I was already familiar with some of his stuff....It just made me like it even more. I really liked that they included some history bits in there, too.

Yes this is an awesome game, I really like it so much, the Play station three version has three two different outfits for Polka and one different outfit for Allegretto and one different for Beat. I wished they also did another for Chopin as the game was about him. I thought it was kind of odd that they left out a special outfit for him. They obviously focussed a lot on Polka. This game has a sad melancholy mood about it as it has the theme of acceptance and death in it. I have all the songs on a CD, but it was definitely interesting to hear them on a game I play hehehehehehe. I also love the other musical compositions that have been composed for the game. The battle themes are truly epic. I really didn't know that the minute waltz was composed about some silly little poodle that George Sands had that kept chasing its tail around in circles, that was one little random interesting piece of information about that sonorous piano excerpt. I also like how on the Play station three version you can get new characters you can't get on the Xbox Three sixty version. This game truly is a must play, I was really glad to see a happy bittersweet ending. Chopin really made a selfless decision at the end to allow Polka have a chance at living a happy life.

My guess would be that PS3 has more 'cause it's capable of running larger files. So the developers can cram a ton of extra content onto PS3 games, simply because there's usually a ton of room leftover. I don't think anyone's managed to make a PS3 that was more than 1 disc...yet. I'll have to look into a PS3 version, too, when I start gettin' out on my own. 'Cause extra content is always fun. ^_^

Come to think of it, I wonder why pc games easily have multiple dics but console games are much smaller... Anyways that's off topic.

Yea, Starr is right, playstation three has so much more space. I'm so glad I got the PLay station three first. I bought and Xbox Three sixty, but only because I wanted to eventually be able to buy the Final Fantasy Seven remake when they finally bring it out. And for everyone's information, there is confirmation that it is at last in the making announced from Square Enix officially and I'm soooooooooo!!! friggginnnnnnnn excited that I could scream, because I effing love that game lol!!!

@Carzeebear ~ Yes, you most definitely should buy this game, but get the playstation three version if you have one. It is definitely worth having the extra dungeons, outfits, scenes and difficulty. Any anime role playing gamer should definitely add this game to his or her library.

@Starr ~ Extra content is always interesting and gives high replay value. I do kind of hate when they do it because they are just making more money off the same game cause they know people who are fans of the game will buy it. Kind of like all of these versions of Street Fighter four and back in the day when Street fighter two was really popular, they had at least four different versions of it for the super nintendo. It was really annoying actually, because I really liked the game and was not making a whole lot of money at my first job I had ever gotten.

I'm a big kid, I love my gaming consoles. I have not only an xbox three sixty, but I also have a Play Station Three, a Nintendo Wii, a Nintendo DS, and Play Station PSP, and I still have my Play Station Two. So I have plenty of games to keep me going... not to mention that I used to ahve a Nintendo Gamecube and a Sega Dreamcast, but I had my old apartment broken into and the game consoles were stolen, along with some other important items. I hate thieves... but anyways. I worked hard and obtained those systems over time, I just didn't get them at one time. I probably don't need to be going out buying them when I could be spending my money on something else more worthwhile that I really need instead of silly games, but then again, I love my silly games....lol!!!!!

Well I'm not exactly the biggest stickler when it comes to being exactly on topic every reply, but there are some awesome games on both systems you know. Play station Two if you like tactical strategy games you should try Disgaea and for the X box you should try Elderscrolls Three, Morrowind. Both awesome and fun games.

I know there are, I just find the necessity of a memory card on the PS2 annoying, and original xbox games are hard to come by now. Except on trademe I guess.

Yes, I agree, memory cards were a horrible idea without being coupled with a good harddrive. I love my playstation three.

I have heard talk that there may be an Eternal Sonata Two maybe utilizing either Bach, Mozart, or Beethoven. Either way I would love to see it and hopefully they would make the game open adventuring and allow the camera to change views so that way the player can see more of the landscape. I just absolutely adore the game, besides the fact that I love Chopin, I have playing the Raindrop Prelude. Playing piano is my other huge outlet.

Well besides everyhint else about this game is just the fact that even the original soudtracks to the game are just absolutely amazing. The composer is truly talented.

I think a Mozart or Beethoven game could get really interesting. Beethoven, especially, considering some of his pieces. I have a great love for his Symphony 7 ever since we played it in Orchestra. I wonder what kind of story they could weave out of Beethoven, too. I think his world could be very intriguing.

I agree, Beethoven or Mozart are both kind of tragic characters. So you're saying you like the Pastoral Symphony? It is a good one I agree, I like his Eroica, Fifth, and Ninth symphonies.....anyways ... getting back on topic lol ehhehheh yes, I'm a classical music lover and a pianist myself.
I think for a sequel they should keep all of the characters from the original Eternal Sonata and pick up from where Chopin left off and go with Beethoven entering the world as a man fighting against fate. I think it would be very fitting... and then they could expand on the musical world with another continent called Chant and with another new nemesis called Emperor Silence who wishes to silence all the beautiful music in the world back attacking and conquering all of the kingdoms.

Two years have passed and Allegretto and Polka are living together in Tenuto in their own home now raising Beat. Jazz, Falsetto, and Claves are recruiting more people in their underground network and are finding out that new characters are coming to Forte's shore and are trying to spread Silence around the kingdoms. Beethoven's gradual loss of hearing is causing him to be angry and impatient and he is drawn into this battle against silence and eventually meets Beat on a rainy night in the forest in the beginning, with his limited hearing he decides it's time to discover this new land he thinks may be Heaven.

We had a full orchestra, with select band members and everything. That one and Symphonie Fantastique (mvts 4 & 5) by Berlioz were just so overwhelming to play in a full orchestra. It really helped make high school worth something to me. ...I think my violin might be glaring at me, though. *hides*

THanks, I like to come up with all kinds of ideas for games I really like lol. I think Beat should become Beethoven's guide since Polka was Chopin's guide and represented Chopin's sister, Beat could represent Beethoven's nephew whom he taught and he wanting to teach Beat. With Beat now ten years old, he's much more adventurous and meets Beethoven and he kind of reminds Beat of Chopin, that he immediately takes him back to Tenuto and introduces him to Allegretto and Polka. Solfeggio, Polka's mother has a bad feeling about everything and foreshadows a bad omen. Storms seem to be more common, and of course Floral powder is sellling again while Polka and Allegretto run their own business going from Ritardando, to other towns not in the main game which could be Lento, Subito, Harmonia, and Band. On their travels these storms which happen seem to unlease some magical darkness which tries to steal sound and cause hypnotic rays to enslave people and open a dimension with evil beings. With all of this happening of course Beethoven is curious and accompanies Allegretto to Forte to find out what is happening. Polka and Beat stay home in Tenuto to take care of things.

Well that's cool, never give up your musical ambitions and always play, even if it is just for your own personal enjoyment.

Yes, I think Beethoven would be more appropriate whereas Mozart would be more of a silly yet semi serious musician. I would like to see more performances in this world and see music more utilized in battle and outside of battle.

I need to work on a piece by Chopin myself, it's his Ballade in G minor. A very dramatic yet tragic piece of music. You should watch the Pianist it has the guy who hid from the Nazis play that piece for the Nazi soldier who kept him hid during that period while feeding and clothing him as well. Very dramatic and yet sad movie. Movies from that time era fascinate yet depress me.

As is the reason why I love good games with good music. I really and truly do hope they make a sequel for this game, because it will be on the top of my list of games to buy. Although I just recently purchased Dragon Quest IX and somehow it got dislodged from my Nintendo DS and is missing now. I am so frustrated about it grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.... I just can only hope that it turns up soon somehow. Oh well....:(
