Epic Mickey
Disney and Nintendo Wii just came out with a new game. It's called 'Epic Mickey'. Well the Wiki page and the commercials looked interesting, so I decided to give it a shot. I bought it today, and after three hours, and only completing 2 levels (not including the 'how to play' level) I finally got frustrated with dying and gave up for the night.
Has anyone else tried this game yet? If so what do you think (please put in spoiler tags so you don't ruin it for others) For those that haven't played, do you want to? Does it look like fun to you? If you need or have any help or hints you can post them here. |
I want to, might ask it for christmas. I love disney stuff, and the game looked like fun and something original.
I'm curious for some more screenshots, couldn't find many on Google. |
I've read about the basic plot, and I want to play because it's really dark and serious for a disney game. But I've heard the camera/wii thing is really off so you can't aim well which is kind of a HUGE issue because if you cant aim at your enemies, you'll get dead!
I am however eager to play the sidescrolling levels I saw that are all neon colored. Is the game as creepy as it's promoted to be? |
The camera isn't a huge issue. There is also the 'z' button which redirects the camera, and you can also view from Mickey's perspective.
Some things you have to hit in just the right spot for it to take effect, but it is fun! And really creepy! |
Aah, getting it for christmas! 50% that is, but that means I only have to pay 20 euros.

I absolutely love it so far. It was creepier than I thought it would be actually which I think is kinda awesome. xD I admit, the camera is a pain in the butt at first, but I think I've gotten used to it now. I find it very interesting that the game automatically saves after you do something (whether it be good or bad) so that you can't take back your actions by restarting the console and trying again. It makes you deal with the consequences of your actions. I've never had a game do that before and I was quite surprised and very much in love with the reality of that. Every time I used the paint thinner to destroy something I felt actual guilt because of the way the characters reacted to my actions. It makes you actually want to be good. I think this game is a bit deeper than it appears to be at first.
I'm impressed... ...and maybe also thinking too hard. xD |
I got Epic Mickey for Christmas, Its addictingly fun :D but it can be REALLY hard, which confused me at first, I mean a hard DISNEY game? XD The camera gets a bit annoying, and the z button doesn't work that well to me, but I LOVE it! I'm waaay to much of a goody two-shoes, I don't use paint thinner unless ABSOLUTLY necassary so quickly gather up the little guys, whatever their name is XD It's an interesting and challenging game. I look forward to beating it

I haven't played it, but I heard it wasn't that good.
I wasn't interested in playing it anyways. The name 'Epic Mickey' kinda turned me away. :/ |
I might pick it up then, if it's less fluffy than normal Disney. I already like the concept even though I feel it's a cross between Okami and Super Mario Sunshine...at least how the ads depict it, anyway.
I've seen ads and thought it looked interesting, but not enough to really look into, but now I'm interested. :ninja: |
It's way less fluffy than normal disney.
It is extremely challenging, and yeah you really have to make moral decisions. You cant just decide to try that section again being good.... |
I got it, and I only play it after getting really bored with my other games. I beat the first 3 levels in just a couple hours the first time I turned it on. I don't think it's a horrible game as some reviews say, but I definitely was expecting something more challenging gamewise, not glitch/maneuver wise. Disney's MO seems to be to ALWAYS have one or two spots that is maddening to get the character/camera angle right to do a jump or move to progress further.
It wasn't nearly as dark as I was expecting either. It still had a lot of fluffed cuteness to the characters and enemies, even the animation style. I was expecting something really depressing and a bit twisted.. ah well. I'll probably pick it up again after I do all I can with my Harvest Moon and Silent Hill games. XD |
I really love Epic Mickey. Once you get used to the controls, it's actually not that bad. Yes, I've died a few hundred times in one spot, but that was because one, you couldn't avoid something as well as you thought you could, and two, I just love killing enemies and got caught in a clump of stronger enemies. ^^;
I'm only on my first run, but it's turned into an exploratory run because I gave up on finding something and took the less-than-shiny route to the quest. XP I plan on doing a pure "evil" run and a pure "good" run after I finish if time allows. :3 |
I was thinking about getting it, but I'm not sure. I usually go for the RPG games but since I'm a Disney fan I'm contemplating on getting it. I love the fact that you can be bad or good, like Fable. That would make for a very nice twist in the game I think.

Still, if you can get used to it the game is quite good. The soundtrack is excellent. There's a lot of dark remixes of well known Disney songs - the remix of "It's a Small World" is particularly creepy. YouTube - Epic Mickey OST- First Boss "Small World Clocktower" |
