Dynasty Warriors
As you can probably guess from the title, I'm a big DW fan. I really think that Dynasty Warriors was at its best when they released DW4. I didn't care for the camera too much since it didn't allow you to adjust it but the gameplay was awesome. Lu Bu was darn near unbeatable unless you had a level 10 weapon and you didn't make many mistakes and even then it still took almost 10-20 mins to kill him. I also liked DW5 Xtreme. The way that they did the game allowed you to be not only a warrior but a strategist as well. I enjoyed that one alot too.
Now admittedly I think the series is going downhill as of late. I like the new renbu system and all but the game just doesn't feel the same anymore. Any thoughts on the DW series, new or old, good or bad? |
My brother and I played DW3 ever since my dad mistook it as a Kessen Game. I'm sad that the Qiao sisters no longer have fans (actually I'm sad that all the female characters got their dual weaponry replaced by bows) in the later games. I was a SunXiangShang/Qiao sisters fan. :3
|
I never played DW3 but I played every one of them from 4 on. I've not been a fan of the Qaio fans (the weapons) but the girls themselves are adorable. My favorite girl so far (excluding DW7) has been Zhen Ji. She had always captivated me for some reason. . . So pretty
|
Hehe, Zhen Ji is pretty cool too. I just like dual weapons (fans, chakrams, maces...)
I got DW4 and DW4 Tactics or something, and ended at that. I played a newer version at a friend's house and was dismayed to find my favorite weaponry replaced by bows. :c Ah well. What character do you prefer? My brother liked Guan Yu. |
I understand.
DW4 was my favorite of the series by far so I'm not mad that you stopped there. Sometimes I wish I would've stpped there myself but oh well. I'm a freakin' Zhou Yu fan. |
Haha that's cool. Actually I checked through some games in the basement where I keep the PS2. Turns out I actually got DW5 at some point. ^^"
I like most Wu characters. Though I must say Zhou Yu looks very pretty--almost feminine... But he's married to a Qiao so it's allll good there. My friend plays... Uhm... What was that character... Guan Ping or something? |
Ah ok well I enjoyed DW5E more than DW5 itself but I think both of them were better than what I have now lol. ^_^
Zhou Yu was meant to look gorgeous as he was said to have been in history. The one thing I don't like concerning him, is that they make his wife look really young all the time like he was a pedophile. . . Makes me sad. I was interested in Guan Ping for a while but Zhou Yu was always my favorite character and still is. . . Though on the DW6 and DW6E I have to say I'm really interested in Cao Pi's sword. Its pretty awesome. |
Haha, yeah the Xiao Qiao looks pretty young... It does throw you off a bit. But I have faith in Zhou Yu! Haha...
I'm fine with using most characters. I just get a bit ticked off when characters are very slow, like Meng Ho or Xu Zhu (it takes forever to travel! Dx ). Or weapons that are slow (Zhu Rong's giant boomerang). Swords or fast dual weapons are the way to go for me. Cao Pi is not bad either. |
Lol yes we know he did nothing pedophilish! haha
I agree. I really haven't been able to get into Xu Zhu, Meng Huo, or Dian Wei because they're so slow. I'm a swordsman at heart, so they're always my first choice of weapon. . . |
Mhm. Zhou Yu is a good, honest man. Yup yup.
Are you more geared towards one-handed swords? It seems that way, which is cool, since 1H swords are quicker and versatile. :) |
Yup.
I do tend to lean more towards the 1H swords more just because I'm a big speed guy. And I think they're more versatile too. Plus all of the characters who use them are easy to get used to. Some of the weapons on those games take a bit of time to get accustomed to. |
I hear ya. I love speedy characters, I can get more hits done in less time. Sure, sometimes there's a trade-off from strength for speed, but if I'm untouchable it shouldn't prove to be much of an issue.
And I agree, each weapon has a different movement, and sometimes when I play a character I'm not used to it frustrates me when the weapon doesn't move the way I want it to. ("SWING RIGHT, NOT UP ASDFG" and the like) |
That the logic for me as well lol. I think that if I can't get hit then, it doesn't really matter if you're stronger than me or not. I think that works out just fine in my book.
Haha ^_^ yes. That has definitely happened to me on multiple occasions. It can really be frustrating when one mistake can cost you half your health bar lol. |
And quick people with quick attacks can also dodge and parry which is useful if you're being attacked by a crowd. Constantly hitting a strong character is like... hundreds of bee stings until you win!
The health bar... *sigh* For most of the female characters the health bar is very small and the characters have little defense, so I know a lot about a diminishing health bar. Sometimes, later in the game when I advance the characters and give them better stats, I get hit once or twice and go berserk before my brother tells me "Uh, you still have a lot of health left..." It's something I need to get used to... |
I'm finding that more and more females play video games the longer I rp. Why do none of you live around me? Lol.
Sorry to get off topic but I do see what you're saying. To be honest I prefer fast characters with good defenses so that I can last. It does no good to be fast and have no defense. I learned that the hard way. Yeah I think they did make the female characters out to be a little weaker than most of the male characters which is unfair. Its sad becuase I actually liked using some of the females, but in the end it just made you a better player. |
Haha, I attribute my gaming to my older brother. Usually we play two player games together. ^^
Though, sadly, I actually don't RP. I've thought about it but I usually don't because I go on Mene infrequently and I'm afraid I'll kill someone's RP. x_x Fast with defense would be ideal, but I tend to find that attribute spread rare. That's why I usually choose quickies with no defense and build up the defenses from there. It's rewarding when you see the character grow resistance. :D And yes, playing as a weaker player teaches you stuff because it's a matter of life or death. |
Well it usually is because of a guy that girls get involved in gaming (in my experience that is). I've gotten a few of my lady friends into gaming so its not a big surprise that your brother introduced you so to speak. I am sad to hear that you don't rp, maybe you should join a one on one and explain that you're not on often and I'm sure they'll work with you.
Yeah that is true. Its sad that they come that way but that's just how it is. I love to see that my characters are growing which is bad for my enemies cause, I become a demon!!! Mwuhaha!!! |
Ah, that does make sense. But I guess over time each person develops an individual sense of gaming, which is why my preferences are a bit different than my brother's. (Though my range of gaming is limited because I get extremely dizzy with 360-degree gaming and too much action)
I think once my friend said she'd help me through a roleplay, so I joined it. But the next morning I found myself twenty pages behind. It was pretty frustrating for me because after that my character sort of disappeared... Bur surely you mean you become a good demon, right? :D |
You're right, everyone has to play the games to see what type you like so I agree we all find our own gaming range in time. I'm sorry you get dizzy though. . . thats sad. . .
Lol, that's happened to me before, which is why I suggested one on one's. You can't get left behind in those since you only have one partner and not ten, right? Just try doing a few one on one's and see if you like it. You may need to play more than one character every now and again but it's enjoyable if you take your time and make it fun. There are lots of people who would be willing to work with you I promise. I'll do one with you if you'd like. . . Eh. . . Nope. I mean a demon straight from the pits of hell after all the crap I went through to build up my character lol. My enemies deserve no mercy and the worst kind of death I can give them (true musou) so uh. . . yeah haha.  |
Hehe, it's okay! I don't think I'm really into those shooter games anyway~ (though I did cry a bit when I discovered I couldn't play Kingdom Hearts... But miraculously, after a few days of watching my brother play and eating Tootsie Rolls -- somehow they helped -- I can at least watch gameplay now...) Now that I think of it, I'm surprised that I didn't get dizzy when I played Dynasty Warriors. It's for the better!
Mm, I think I'll try honing my skills again then. Thanks for the encouragement! ^^ But surely it's in the name... of justice? |
You can't play Kingdom Hearts!?! That is sad. . . but at least you can watch? And yeah it is good that you don't get dizzy playign DW.
No problem. ^_^ Uh. . . No. Its in the name. . . . of revenge! If I had lived during that time period. I would've served under Lu Bu. Mwuhaha  |
I think I tried playing a Camp Pikachu game in Nintendo World as well. No dice, my head went down in about thirty seconds. Ahh, I'm not really sure what's up with my brain, but it happens to my old man too, so maybe it's just inherited. Yes, I'm glad I can watch Kingdom Hearts being played. Better to be an audience than to not be there at all. ^^
Oh boy, I hope my character bio gets in. Oh no, then the allied forces would have to clean you up! I remember one time I made the mistake of trying to play Diao Chan with her beginner weapon in Hu Lao Gate on Hard mode. ...It was pretty bad... T_T |
What is dynasty wars what is it about and is there an online site I can play this game on?
|
Dynasty Warriors is a series of hack-n-slash games that take place during the warring states period in China. It's really fun and actually you can play it online now. Unfortunately I don't know the site for it since I play them on my consoles but I'm sure if you searched for it you could find it easily. I think its called something like dynasty warriors online but I'm not 100% sure on that. . .

OMG! Love this game, though it's nowhere near as awesome as its Japanese counterpart, Samurai Warriors. Ha ha. But I really do love Dyn-Dyn (that's what I call it)! I have 6... I think. But that's the only DW game I have. If this was SW, I would say I have SW, SW2, and SW2:EL. I wanted to get SW3... but I don't have a Wii. T.T
