I plan on becoming a video game designer. I thinking on working at Sega with Sonic Team. I've been coming up with ideas and characters since I was 7.(but I liked Sonic ever since I was 3) I have characters, items and etc. drawing. I also have a story that I'm writing up. I don't know what else I should do. I'm sorta in progress of making a sprite movie like SMBZ(by alivin earthworm it's really good sprite movie by the way) I'm calling mine Sonic Warriors. I'm putting my main character from my story in it. Cutting the sprites are hard enough though. But anyways I need to know what else I need to do to make my ideas good and presentable to Sega if they accept me.

I'm assuming you really are talking about being a designer here and not a developer.

Well, remember, "design" isn't all about the final product. It's about the concept, the blueprints. While a sprite movie might be an excellent display of your skills, as an actual designer, you'll be drawing concept art, storyboarding, working on scripts. You won't be putting together a finished product.

You've also chosen most gamers' dream field... so expect the competition to be fierce. You'd better shine like the sun if you want to make it!

Just a tip: Get an epic degree.

Designing games like Ana said is a dream field, so you have to out do about... a million+ people. I would recommend researching exactly what your dream field would do in sega and study all of that as much as you can.

I'm going to take Computer Science. When I did research on video game designer and developers it said computer science on it.

Computer Sci is more for coding type developing. My Boyfriend has been in the course for a year already, wanting to be a video game coder.
If you wanted to be more involved with art design and such, fine arts would be the better course I think. My best friends boyfriend (who is also my boyfriends best friend) is more interested in doing the art for video games, so he's taking a fine arts class.
