RPG Maker. (PC)
 

Anyone else tried this program? I have the VX version (or whatever it's called,) I heard there was an improved version that was supposed to come out here this month?

I thought of getting the Playstation ones, but heard those were bad and the pc ones seems to offer better stuff.

Yeah i've used RMVX before and RMXP... and rpg maker 2003... i've clearly got an addiction.
It is really easy to pick up.
It was really made more for people that have no idea how to code, yet they implemented elements that allowed more experienced users add scripts via ruby coding/scripting.
I learnt a little before but it has been years.
And on top of that artists can create their own sprites, given they are of the right setup for characters.
Or even add your own music and everything to it.
It's by far the best "game maker" I've ever used.
but i however didn't hear of the new one they are supposedly making...i hope that's true i wanna fiddle with it lol

s called RPG BX Ace or whatever and it seems you have the option of having your entire party out on the field following you, and you can use "modern" sprites instead of the chibi stuff, and you can make you're own sprites with it O.o I heard it was supposed to come out this month, but not sure when..I dunno though Japan likes to keep the good stuff x.x

But rpg maker xp didn't have chibi sprites. That's just VX i didn't like them much.
And making your own sprites within the rpg maker. Sounds awesome
There were a lot of fansites with sprite makers for a while.
The members all following at once though, that was done via scripts on rmxp before...really hard to find scripts though, unless you make them yourself that is.

Well even better that they put that into the game. xD I'm more of the written part of making a game, and not the tech stuff though..so the VX is better for me. Coding hurts my brain x.x but that doesn't mean I can't learn~

It took me a long time to get anything figured out.
but since i only played with the coding for a little while i've sadly forgotten it all.

Hmm they have a link on there for a chibi maker~ I can't find the female bodies x.x oh never mind, found it ~ I really should buy this program, I have the trial version.

I really don't recommend buying RMVX.
There are "ways" of getting around it that i'm pretty sure i'm not allowed to mention.
So just do a bit of searching beforehand, hm?

I don't make anything from it, but honestly some cool things have come from it. Try Final Fantasy Endless Nova for example.

I'm not a programmer so being able to make my own game without the need to do that is good, though I'll probably be learning it eventually since I'll be working for a company down in Texas soon.

There's a few tutorial for scripting somewhere around the interwebs... the scripting is hard but it is SOOOOO worth it.
I only made a few minor scripts though, for example: i made a script so that whenever a character leveled up that character (and only that character) would regain their full health. And a HUD script to show your main characters current health, mp , and exp. And there was also a mini-map in it XD (because mini-maps are always useful. Am i right?)
