Vlogging

I'm very interested in starting a vlog, but don't know where to start. My laptop's webcam is a piece of crap, so that's out of the question. Does anyone have any suggestions? Any editing programs that are worth looking into, or cameras?

If i hadn't gave my old one to my buddy before i could've mailed it to you.
It worked really well.
It wasn't HD but it was enough to look nice.
I'll have to check with my aunt.
She has a camera that works really well and it didn't cost to much.
I'll tell you as soon as i figure out what kind it is.

I have a vlog that I update sporadically on Youtube.

I use Corel Video Studio Pro X4 editing software. It works amazingly well; I have no complaints. However, if you don't want to spend any money, Windows Live Movie Maker isn't as awful as everyone makes it out to be. I got by with it for a long time. It isn't fantastic, and it lacks a lot of ideal features, but it's good enough to use, especially starting out. :]

As far as cameras...I'm not sure. I have a Kodak Zi8 which I've always used for most of my filming. However, the LCD screen on it broke last week. I have a new camera, a Sanyo Xacti, but I haven't used it much yet. I like both cameras a lot, however!

If you want a pocket camera, I strongly recommend the Kodak Zi8. It can film in 5 different resolutions (including three HD settings), it's comfortable to hold and use, and software that comes with it (which you install onto your computer by connecting the camera to it) is easy and fluid to use.

Definitely get a good webcam.
Also, a good microphone is choice. That way you're prepared for no matter what you plan on doing with the vlog.
Adobe After Effects is really nice for video editing. You can add all sorts of awesome effects to your videos, as well as make animated graphics. I'm not sure about any free alternatives. I think there was something called Sony Vegas (not sure) that was similar.

Work from a script, or a general script. You can tell who didn't plan out their video and who did. It adds a professional quality and makes people want to watch more.

Thanks everyone. :)

I'm actually looking into getting an iPad. My laptop is a couple of years old, and is a bit too big to carry around easily anyway. Anyone got any insight on iMovie?
