Any other Mass Effect fans here?
It is one of my favourite game series ever - brilliant story, characters, setting and gameplay. Plus I liked the level of customisation you get when creating your own character.
I think I've heard it described as a sci-fi shooter RPG dating sim ^^

While the games do have romance options, I wouldn't include dating sim as part of the game genre.

That being said, Bioware knows how to write some damn good characters. You know they're well written when you have a deep attachment to characters that don't really exist. My favourites being Garrus, Tali, Mordin and Thane. I won't go into detail about each and how I love them, because I don't have nearly enough time for that.

Despite the complaints that ME3 had, I actually enjoyed it a lot, even if a lot of my favourite people died.
If I could change one major thing about it, it would be that I wanted an ending where I could kick the Reapers in face and then go live happily on Rannoch with Tali.

I think the "dating sim" part may have been a joke. I wouldn't really know, never played a dating sim before.

I would love an ending like that too! Only in my case Shepard would go settle somewhere with Garrus. ME3 was actually the first game that's ever made me cry, because I got so emotional in it. I think that's why I prefer it to the other two games.

I thought Tali's reaction to Rannoch was so sweet! I accidentally made a decision that made her commit suicide there and I redid the entire final Rannoch mission just to put it right, including fighting that Reaper. >.<

SPOILERX

I cried when Mordin died. And Thane, and Legion. Mordin was singing his song when the tower blew up. In fact, because of Thane's death I rushed into the mission to attack the Cerberus base because I wanted revenge, ended up finishing the game without enough military strength and everyone died.

I'm with you on this one. Despite all the crap people gave ME3, I didn't find it all too bad.

Mordin was... Just remember, he is the very model of a scientist Salarian. And that Asari-Vorcha offspring have an allergy to Dairy.

I made the same decision that made her suicide. I was talking to a friend online at the time. I pressed the paragon interrupt, but it didn't change anything. I'm pretty sure I reset in the middle of his speech about something or other, but to hell with that, I like Tali. Needless to say, I went on an absolute murder spree against Reapers and Geth online.

Yea, there are some specific thing you need to do to keep Tali alive. And a couple more things if you want to make peace between the Quarians and Geth.
I accomplished it on my perfect paragon playthough that I just finished a few days ago. Definitely worth it. The following cut scene with Tali is fantastic.

I didn't realise you had to do those side missions to make peace with the geth and quarians, so on my first playthrough I sided first with the geth, because I like them better, then I reloaded and sided with the quarians. On my next playthrough though I did al the stuff I had to do to make peace.
Taking Tali to her homeworld made me feel warm and fuzzy inside. She was so happy!
The part where Mordin sings has to be one of my favourite parts of ME2. It's made even better by Shepard's completely blank expression when he's finished.
It bothers me that a lot of the time people can only talk about ME3's ending. It's a brilliant game, and they're just judging it solely on one little part of it...

Singing Mordin and drunk Tali 2 of my most favourite moments throughout the games.

And yea, same here. It bugs me when people only fixate on the ending. The rest of the game is amazing.

Emergency Induction PORT!

Yeah, It bugs me too. I'm not sure if I was expecting it to be worse after hearing about it so much before playing it, but the ending wasn't that bad anyway. Could have been longer and more in-depth, but it wasn't as bad as people made it out to be.

I've been playing the ME3 multiplayer nearly all day, I really don't want to save the geth at all anymore. They're so very annoying, even on bronze.

The multiplayer is quite fun, I must say.
I really like how every 2 weeks they have a special operation where you can get bonus items if you complete the objective.
And they come out with free dlc for it fairly often, which I really like.

I'm absolutely loving the Ex-Cerberus Adept. Being able to whip people around and see them flying all over is so satisfying.
The Geth Engineer is also really fun to play too. The geth turret has to be my favourite one of the engineer drones.
I havn't been lucky enough to get one of the new N7 classes yet, but they seem really awesome from seeing other people play them.

It is good. I know there's one on right now. Extract 800,000 player overall or something like that.

I haven't got the ex cerberus adept yet, but that's fine with me. I love running around as a Drell Adept with Reave and the Avenger. I think i've got the Geth engineer, I know I unlocked the Salarian engineer last night but i've never used any engineer class at all.
I've been lucky enough to get 2 of the new N7 classes, The Destroyer (Soldier) and Paladin (Sentinel). I'm not willing to take either of them above bronze with the way i've got them set up now. Devastator mode on the Destroyer is a lot like Hunter mode, so I just turn it on at the start of the game and leave it, same with the shoulder mounted missile launcher. Multi-ffrag is downright awesome though. At one of the levels you can upgrade it to shoot 5 seperate frags out at once. Each shot only uses one of your 4 (maximum) grenade slots too.
Paladin is so much more fun than the Destroyer. I decided to skip out on energy drain in favor of Incinerate and snap Freeze. Snap freeze is like a short range Cryo blast that goes through walls. sometimes I just sit behind cover and spam it in the general direction of enemies. Incinerate is... well, incinerate. Same as ever. The shiled is great though. Not many feelings better than slamming a nigh-impenetrable shield (seriously, mine has 5000 health.) down between you and whatever is coming at you. It does break, but then you jut hit the Melee button again and it's good as new.

I've been using a male quarian infiltrator. I was kinda annoyed when I found out that they're more rare and have different abilities from the female quarians, but I do like my character. I got the Valiant sniper rifle in a victory pack and also the geth plasma shotgun so they're useful with tactical cloak. I like using tactical scan too, especially when Cerberus puts up a smoke screen.
It's kinda weird how the drell adept looks almost exactly like Thane. They coulda based them off of Feron or Kolyat, but they chose Thane.
I'm also annoyed that I can't play as a female turian, vorcha, batarian, krogan or salarian. I'm hoping that they add them later. :/

I think the reason they look like Thane is because of the skin colour.
All Drell generally look the same, save for the colour of their skin. once you get enough of the character cards, you should have the skin colour option unlocked.

I'm quite a fan of actively using powers quite often, so I usually try to minimize how much weight I have on each character.
Especially for the Ex Cerberus Adept, which is the one I've been playing the most lately. The only weapon he has equipped is the Paladin pistol, which is a stronger version of the Carnifex. Other than than, it's firing a couple shot to take down shields, then spamming Lash and then Smash if anyone gets too close.

I'm getting really frustrated right now with the multiplayer. Surely it's not difficult to make it so that I stop getting a character card when i've unlocked all of the appearance options and the character is maximum level. I keep getting things I've already got maxed, when I just want the last appearance option for 3 of my common classes.

The skin colour is the only thing that makes the multiplayer drell not Thane. Instead of being a rich green, it's really faded. Apart from that they look exactly alike.

Kolyat and Feron's faces are different... Kolyat's more so I think.

I've only managed to unlock all appearance options on my human vanguard so far. The others all look rather plain. ^^"
I go for as little weight as possible on my adept, but on infiltrator I don't use my powers as much so I like having good guns. The Valiant has to be one of my favourite sniper rifles. It's got decent damage, and you can fire three shots before you have to reload.

Yea I'm a big fan of the Valiant. I used it constantly throughout the single player up until I had enough credits to afford the Black Widow, which can also fire 3 shots, but is almost as powerful as the normal Widow.
Wish I could get my hands on that for multiplayer. Unfortunately I don't have a very good selection of sniper rifles, so I don't play infiltrator classes to often, which sucks because it's my favorite single player class.

Choose Language | BioWare Social Network

That's my multiplayer manifest. I can count the weapons I use on one hand.

You can get the Valiant in single player? I thought it was just a multilayer weapon. Where do you get it?
I was just lucky enough to get it in a victory pack. My brother got one too so we made a good infiltrator team, with him being a geth and me being a quarian. I usually play with my brother and 2 randomers because I don't like playing with complete strangers. >.<
I don't have many weapons either. I seriously need a new SMG, I'm just using the Tempest right now.

I'll trade you. I've got the Locust, Hornet, Geth Plasma SMG, Tempest, Shuriken and Hurricane. Next to Shotguns, SMGs are my least used weapons. I've only got SMGs and shotguns as N7 weapons too.

I hope we got the allied goal for this weekend, I really want another N7 character to go with my Destroyer and Paladin.

I believe you got a set of N7 weapons for single payer if you got the Collector's Edition, which I did.

I don't mind SMGs, in fact I quite like the Hornet, but I havn't gotten even a single SMG Ultralight Materials, so for the time being, they just add too much weight. I would like the Hurricane if it didn't have so much kick. You really have to limit how much you shoot at once with that thing.

Ah. I didn't actually buy the game. I borrowed it from a friend and bought an Online pass. Since then, we agreed to have one disc each so we can both play MP.

I love the SMGs on certain classes. Hurricane is great on the Destroyer. I upgraded my Geth SMG earlier tonight and I decided to try soloing on bronze with just it and the Destroyer.
It isn't great alone, but when you have 100 shots basic, an 80 shot increase from SMG extended mags and a 45% chance of not using up the thermal clip with each shot, it's great. Adding Devastator mode on there with the extra damage and clip size makes it downright amazing. I made it to wave 6 against Cerberus using only it. Only reason I died was because I got one of the activate 4 objectives. At one point I accidentally killed an assault trooper because it walked in front my my shots.

I loved Mass Effect.

Not so much the 3rd game just because of the ending. But I am happy they were able to fix that. Lol ^-^

I didn't think ME3's ending was as bad as people say. Sure, there wasn't much of a choice there, but the same could be said of both ME and ME2.
I still haven't been able to play the Extended Cut, is it good? I didn't want to just watch it on YouTube because I hate spoilers.

Extended cut is better. NO matter who you go to, they won't say that it's the best ending, but it's certainly better.

I am OBSESSED with Mass Effect. Unfortunately many of my friends don't share my gusto for the series. I was hooked from the beginning; a guy I used to date got me hooked. although I'm not generally an obsessive person, Mass Effect just grabbed me and kept me in awe. for one - I can't get enough of sci-fi themes. another - the characters are awesome! shep, as a hero, is completely believable. with faults, and problems, and a history.

I don't have xboxlive, so i'm stuck with campaign mode - but I'd kill to try multiplayer. I hear it's a good one.

And - I loved the third game. I found it to be too much talk and not enough killing, but I felt the ending was beautiful and completely appropriate. I know many of you will already hate me for saying that but hell. that said; I haven't yet played the extended cut. I'm waiting to get a live subscription and get the 'perfect ending'. It does really break my heart that Shep has to die.

Is it much different from the ending the game was shipped with? I've done some research, and from what I've seen it's pretty much the same. Shep still meets his/her end.

But ugh, what an entrancing game. /ramble

Yeah, I haven't played the extended cut either, (same reason, no live...) I read a review the other day that said it was mostly just cutscenes explaining the ending, closing some loopholes, etc etc.
