I'm gonna be honest. during the PS3, I was never much of a sony fan. Now that they've unleashed the PS4, I'm shocked at their technology. They're leaps and bounds above everyone in Console evasion and invisibility.

I feel the opposite. >.> I was/still am a Sony fan (I love my PS3 even if I have to rebuy certain classics just to play them on it). The news of the PS4 hasn't really got me all hot and bothered, so to say.
Also, I read that they weren't even wanting to show off the controller yet but did so because they thought it would look weird if they had people playing and you couldn't see it.

I just bought the PS3 super slim so I won't be getting the PS4 for a while. Though Watchdogs does kind of have me excited...

That, and the controller information was leaked a couple days before the press conference.
Risque; Did you click and link and see the UStream? D:
I still enjoy playing my PS3. I may get the PS4 a year after its initial release, just to get all of the bugs out of the system. Then, there will be a small library of games to play. I'll still play Watch_Dogs on the PS3, but I know my first game on the PS4 will be InFAMOUS: Second Son.

Yeah. I believe most of the specs for the PS4 were leaked. It's just that no one was 100% certain what was true or just made up.
It's going to take a new SMT PS4-exclusive title and Persona 5 before I get that "IGOTTAHAVEIT!!!" feeling.
It is good to learn that it will played used games but the fact that you'll likely have to re-purchase digital titles on the PS4 bums me out. I would think that the compatibility would work for those.

Not too excited over some of the stuff they revealed *coughsharebuttoncough* and don't get me started on this "social networking" "media center" crap, it's supposed to be a damn video game console. They should focus on doing one thing and doing it well, I hate when companies try to make their product do EVERYTHING and it does them all in a mediocre fashion. But some of the other features look nice, maybe I'll think about picking it up a few years down the road when it actually has some decent games to make it worth buying. Speaking of which, I was hoping they would announce another PS3 price drop to coincide with their PS4 reveal, then it would finally be worth the price IMO :O

Wasn't around for the livestream, but now I see..
Having to repurchase PSN titles is just pants on head ridiculous.. that is not the way to attract potential purchasers who already have a sizable PSN collection on their PS3/Vita. :x

Liztress: Totally. I doubt Atlus would be throwing themselves into the new console, when they have hardly anything SMT related (Catherine doesn't really count! It may have been done by Team Persona, but it's not a SMT game!). I think they'll focus on the 3DS and Vita, especially since P4G sold so well in both Japan and the US (with Europe soon coming up to speed).
I already know one game I want. InFAMOUS is a great game series, to me (even all the stupid glitches. Hell, those add a comical charm to the game.). When E3 comes around, I'm positive more news will be announced, especially a release date (not vague "holiday 2013") and a price point.
wagon: To their defense, they did say that there will be social aspects, but gaming will primarily come first. I don't like a lot of the features they announced, but the share button and game jumping and game trials due interest me a lot. Especially, since I don't want to drop 60+ USD and find out it's utter crap!
Risque: I really wonder how they're going to go around that. Will there be some search and auto-purchase PS4 virtual console games? The PSN already has a record of virtual purchases. There should be some sort of way to say, "Oh, Risque bought this, this, and this. She doesn't need to purchase them again."
I'll have to wait and see.
Overall, it was a successful conference. There was some interesting information, cool looking controller, and a few games to drool over. They did what they accomplished to do: get the gaming community hyped for the new console.

I'm all for them putting focus on the handhelds (I want that limited edition SMT 3DS XL ) I know Persona 5 has been mentioned as in the works but no clue if it's going to be on a handheld or home console.
I still need to play the InFAMOUS games. They seem like titles I'd really enjoy. As far as a price, rumors are that it will be around the $500 mark.

There's rumors floating that Persona 5 will be on the PS4, considering there isn't ANY news in regards to the game. We've seen nothing but SMT 4, and SMTxFE (which, really, is seriously a weird combination for a cross over game).
Mainly, Atlus seems to be working on SMT 4, SMT: Devil Summoner: Soul Hacker, and a Persona game for the 3DS (which I think is a port of the first one).
I do wish they'd give some more love to the Vita.

@ Senpai: And what about all the free games that PSN subscribers get? Or PS1 classics that people bought on their Vita? Remote play is something I don't think they even considered.
But this is Sony.. where they have their ridiculous proprietary memory card prices.

According to what the CEO of GaiKai said, they're working with Sony to have ALL PlayStation games playable on their devices. That's how I saw their part of the conference.
In most situations, SONY is 2-steps forward, 3-steps back when it comes to setting up virtual content.

I'm not too happy with Sony at the moment... No BC on the PS4 so that's GT5 gone..... Apparently GT6 will be on the PS3 according to the VP of SCEE but it would be a stupid move to be fair releasing a title as big as that in the end of a products life span.... And the Duelshock 4 looks a little bit busy for my liking.... But you can't please everyone..... Or I just complain too much

Releasing GT6 on the PS3 is a smart move, actually. If you rant the company, you're still getting money from those who refuse to buy into the new console DAY ONE, and you're getting money from those who are buying the console DAY ONE.
The backwards issue doesn't bother me as much as it did before the event. With GaiKai being part of the PS4, playing older games via cloud technology is going to happen. Sure, it's not physical backwards compatibility, but most gamers already have the game from purchasing it via PSN. (You'd be surprised at how many gamers don't care for physical copies.)

I would rather have a physical copy then a DL copy.
It's offical that GT6 is coming to the PS3 a sound clip was released with the VP of SCCE saying so.

The BC issue is mostly an issue for people who don't want to repurchase games they've previously bought for 50 bucks. For instance, all those people with launch PS3s that don't work because of the YLOD will probably want to invest in a PS4, but then are they going to get punished for being an early adopter of the PS3 because they can't play their physical copies?

My PS3 is 7 years old and runs smooth as day, it's frozen a couple of times like litterally two times, and the hundreds of pounds that I've spent on games, I don't want to spend a few hundred more just to play the same things....

Same logic can be said about the PSP and the PSVita. Sure, you can't play the physical copies of the PSP games on the Vita, but that hasn't stopped gamers from buying the PSVita and purchasing PSP games for the Vita.
Hell... I've purchased a few virtual PSP games for my Vita, even though I own the physical copy. Granted, it was during one of them half-off sales.
Also, for those who still have the PS3 will more than likely still have it when they purchase the PS4. I plan to give mine to my sister, so she and I can play PS3-PS1 games (60g BC) and I can play PS4 games (and my sister, too... if she wants to play any PS4 games).
Is it a good thing for the gamers? No. It's a good thing for companies. I may not agree with those policies, but I do understand them and why they're doing what they're doing.

Yeah.. and I'll probably quit my bitchin' once games are 90% digitally distributed. u_u But during this transition phase it kind of really sucks to own physical copies.

That's the issue for me, I have no desire to have a psvita, but the ps3 issue is that I don't have space to have both, I can have a ps3 or a ps4, but I'm still annoyed that there is no BC on the ps4, you'd think it would make sense to put it on the most advanced games console in the world don't you think?

Well... it's not cost effective, sadly. Sony spent a lot of money on the BC PS3s, and there wasn't enough of a profit to justify continuing the process.
As for holding the software of the PS3 in the PS4: It's not doable. The cost simply isn't there. Holding two different software types in one system is going to make it bigger, run hotter, slower and not fully utilize the hardware inside the system. In the end, the system would tank.
As I said, I understand the practices Sony is doing them. I don't agree with them, however. They don't give gamers the freedom they want. Until something is done to show Sony what their current business practices are wrong, they'll continue to do what they do.

This whole "no backwards compatibility" thing has definitely put of off of Sony this console generation. I still have my PS2 but I was hoping to be able to get rid of that and play all my PSX/PS2 games on a PS3. I was finally going to get a PS3 now that is has so many exclusives worth playing in its catalog but apparently only the original model PS3 can play both PSX and PS2 games, and those are incredibly hard to find and expensive from what I've seen.
Also, I'm trying to decide between a Slim PS3 or Super Slim, but I keep getting mixed reviews about them. Anyone have some input on these?

The Super Slim is the newest version of the PS3, It's the smallest, lightest, and most power efficient of all 3 incarnations although it has a pop-up lid over the disk tray over the motorised disk holder found on the other two models. The official colours that are avalible are Black, White (Japan) Red (Japan and UK) and Blue (Japan and UK) and there are two HDD's available, 250GB and 500GB. but since it's release i haven't seen any issues with the system at all, well no published issues anyway hahaha :P
