As we know Sonic the hedgehog is a series that has been up and down lately. Sega keeps rushing his 3D games out the door without perfecting them. It got up to the point that gamers keep wanting the series to die. Even hardcore Sonic fans. I don't think so cause SA2, Colors and Generations were pretty good. But now it seems Sonic Boom was bad (good thing the cartoon is good though) and now I fear the "Sonic-is-dead" wagon is starting up again. I'm kinda exhausted from defending the series all the time and I wish Sega and whoever developer gets it together soon. What do you think?

I hate to say this, but I think I was one of the few people that actually liked Sonic Boom. I know very few people who did enjoy it, and despite what everyone says I actually enjoyed each sonic game in their own right... except for one. One game, that is the bane of Sonic's existence... Sonic the Hedgehog '06.

The Sonic hate band wagon has always been rather stupid to me. One of my favorite games in the series, Sonic and the Black Knight, seemed to be hated by so many people. I remember when the hate band wagon was rolling during that games release, even though I thought the game was brilliant in what it was doing. Some people just dislike the 3D Sonic games(Excluding SA2, which seems to be the game almost all can agree on).

I grew up playing Sonic games, and I would never have thought that the Sonic franchise/series would ever decelerate like this. Sonic the Hedgehog is like Mario, or Pac Man, or even Donkey Kong if you think about it. I think he will live. There's just been a decrease in the number of video game players in general, and maybe the ones who love, or would love, Sonic are shifting more towards mobile apps now.

The main reason for the shift has almost nothing to do with the games most of the time. As I said pretty much in my last post, and in another thread, people just want to hate. People don't give a series or games a chance anymore and just hate on it to hate. It's the most annoying thing to me, and I just want to punch people so @#[email protected]# hard that it would hopefully knock sense into them. I stand by my ways, Do not criticize a game for flaws, or praise it for what it does right... UNTIL YOU'VE PLAYED THE GAME.

Kis, you might want to watch this video before categorizing people.

Categorize people? In a sense it's true however. That video doesn't change the point that I respect those that say the game is shit after they've played it to those that say it when they haven't even tried it. A game is shit to some people, I understand that no one has the same likes but as I said here and the other thread, there is a difference between playing and seeing. Seeing can give you a view, something to ponder if you may like it. Sonic and The Secret of the Ring was one for me personally. If I went by some people I talked to, and the few videos I watched, I'd never of played it and found I really enjoy it. But I never give a solid opinion of a game till I physically play it myself.

Then why get mad when no one likes what you don't like?

Insulting people by categorizing them isn't going to get them to like what you like because you're going to turn them off from it. It's doing more bad than good by implying that every person that hates a game is this type of person and therefore you're better than them because of that.

I came off wrong then as that was not my intent. What I get mad at are the people who hate just to hate. You disliked the game, Perfectly fine. Go ahead and hate it, It's not my place to say that. But if you haven't even touched the game or looked at it, which quiet a few people do when a sonic game is released, that is my issue. That has always been an issue with Sonic since he moved to 3D.

I think I get it. People say it's Sonic team's fault but Sonic Boom was done by someone else and it's just as bad. So I'm thinking now it's just Sega's fault cause as we seen in history they have a habit of rushing games out the door before the developers could polish it. I mean not just for Sonic but for other games they have the license to like the Aliens franchise. It make sense doesn't it? All these games would have been great if Sega gave the devs enough time to actually finish the games. I mean these feel like the Alphas and Sega just released them not knowing they were not finished.

Never thought someone else would know about that.

For the Chronicles of Chris-Chan are both funny and sad.

Well I just stumbled on this. This gives some good theories of the Sonic hate.

OK here's my new thoughts. When going though Sonic's Facebook page I've noticed one thing. Most comments no matter the topic just have people going like "Make another SA" or "He was much better back then". These guys keep in reverencing the old stuff in what they consider a golden age. I would think they suffer from what I cann "nostalgia blindness" which is a condition that keeps you only liking whatever you liked as a kid and never give any new stuff a chance. They really need to get out of the past. Also I just realized that kids today might not like the old Sonic. The stuff back then might seem stupid or dated to them.
