I wanna do some editing with footage from my consoles? What's the best hardware to get for the job? Also my consoles all use HDMI cables.

From my experience, I rather liked the Elgato Gaming - Game Capture HD. A friend of mine has one and the quality is nice, and I know for the longest time ReviewTechUSA was using Elgato iirc. I could be wrong but a youtube channel I watched frequently a year ago used it and I liked the quality from his posting. Of course we all have our opinions on things but I can at least link you something for information. The amazon page has a lot of information and reviews for you to check.

When I was looking up video capture devices, a lot of the Avermedia ones came up in results! Seemed overall to be good!

I was leaning towards an Avermedia Live Gamer Portable, which is probably still what I'll get, just because I go out and leave the house quite frequently. ^^
