So yeah. I just bought a copy for Zurie's Wii and we 'tarded out playing it. xD Gotta love that flan. It actually requires a lot more effort than I expected it to, as in the amount of heavy motion in chopping and whatnot. We shamelessly flailed against the clock in two-player mode.

So do you have a preference regarding systems? Do you even like the game in general? Discussion time is naow. :3

oh wow I borrowed a friends copy after I played it at gamestop and wasted an entire weekend cutting, broiling, baking, and folding...I was a complete cooking mama addict, and beat the game by monday morning. Now I sit patiently and wait for it to come out of the Wii...its gonna be so much fun!

  • That game is really really odd. .__.
I saw a classmate's sister play it, and all you really do is cook. With a stylus.

  • Ho'mans, I was totally gonna start a thread about this, Salamander. D;

I was geekflailing at it not too long ago, and there're some hilarious mentions that I must make as far as the Wii recipes go:
Penne Ala Arrabiata -- Mentioned in Eddie Izzard's stand-up.
...oh crap. Brainfart. I forgot which other one deserved to be mentioned.

    Meh. Whatever. Cooking Mama DS/Wii = <33333

Its one of those games where I love it but I dont quite know why, its just so much fun. I only have it for the DS but it really works with the flexibility of the DS.

I cant wait to try the Wii version

I didn't think I'd get hooked onto it that fast, but it's so amusing! I'm a huge perfectionist in games, and that certainly filled my niche. I got obsessed with getting everything perfect and getting frustrated (in a hilarious manner of course) whenever I'd burn something or let pasta fly out everywhere XD It's an interesting game, nonetheless! I have yet to try the Wii version : DD

Zurie, Salamander, I still say that I automatically win because I can actually cook those goddamn dishes, in real life! Screw you, announcer lady! I was stirring! Screw you and your creepy Engrish! GAAAAAH!

I adore this game! I have it for the DS. I haven't played the Wii version... In fact I've not gotten the chance to play a Wii at all. *sob*

I have golds and silvers all the way across cooking mode... As for skill mode there's about 5 skills I haven't been able to clear yet. It's usually up to the last level and I'm half a second too slow... Except "cut"... That is too hard for me! I can't even get to the third stage! I always fall just short of beating stage 2. So frustrating...

This sounds like an awesome game. D:
I had a demo of a game that sounds similar to this for the PS (hah yeah, way old school). I can't remember the name because it was in Japanese and I had to figure out how everything went.

  • I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT!!! xDDDDD
It was called "Ore no Ryouri!" which translated to "I'm the Chef!"
I have the exact same demo, and really wished that it would've come to the states. It had different quirks than Cooking Mama because it was controlled by analog sticks instead of a stylus or remote. I also liked how you could run a restaurant, and you'd hafta do sub acitivities, like chase after a punk that forgot to pay, hand out change, kill roaches, etc. >w<
I think I'll hafta play that again now because I have my PS2 hooked into the TV now. xDD

Have both, love both. :3

I prefer the DS version, because in my opinion, most of the controls are easier, proportionally. Not to mention it requires less effort. x_x

Also, since it's portable, I'm not shackled to a room that has a television. :3

  • Not to question your tastes, but I can't understand why you'd prefer the DS gameplay over the Wii version, Molotov. I think the controls are a lot easier and it's just easier in general to be able to get the perfect scores for the recipes on the Wii, 'cause a lot of the things are just impossible with the DS stylus for me.

Played both Wii and DS ones. I loved them both, but I like being able to "battle" in the wii one and see the cooks from different places of the world (German one is so cute!).

Cooking Mama's a nice time-waster whenever I'm waiting for the bus for hours. :3 I'm borrowing the game from my boyfriend, and he pretty much cleared it all--I guess since I don't "feel" like I have any goal in the game, it's not as fun. I dunno, just talking gibberish. >__>; I hate cutting though. It's irritaaaating.

I've never even heard of this.

Would it be better to purchase for DS or Wii system?

LMAO Is that what it was called?! Ohman.
So my brother finally got Cooking Mama for his DS and DAMN is it intense. I've yet to experience it on the Wii.
