On the DS, I just finished playing two games.
Professor Layton and the Curious Village is a good'un if you're into puzzles. And i mean
really into puzzles. You can't talk to anyone in the town without them saying things like "You know, you remind me of a nephew I once had. He claimed he could become a master chef. One day, he donned his white chef's hat, and left town. Never saw him again. Oh, that reminds me of a puzzle about chicks and wolves that you
need to solve
right now".
So yeah. Get if you're like me, where nothing sounds more exciting than a truly taxing riddle!
Chrono Trigger is an essential for any RPG fan. Luckily, its re-release on the DS makes it easy to get into the game that started a rabid fanbase. The combat feels fresh and innovative, the story is great, the characters loveable, and there's two(?) ways to end the game - if you find one hard or boring, you can just finish the game in the other way.
Also,
monster training heck yes.
My PC is seeing a lot more love than my DS, though!
Left 4 Dead, specifically, Versus mode, is not a favorite of mine when i play on my own. Grab a best friend and Skype, however, and it's great fun. Doing co-ordinated Infected attacks, or just screaming at each other because another ruddy Hunter pounched your stupid ruddy team-mate after the ruddy Boomer puked all over the ruddy place with his stupid ruddy puking ability, makes it fun even when you're losing. In other news, this is the most rage-quit filled game I've ever seen - i've only fully completed
one game with all the original players, and I've had this game since release!
Thanks to the UbiSoft weekend deal on Steam, i picked up four UbiSoft games.
Far Cry was one of them, and while it had promise, I didn't like it. I'm much preferring the other game that came with it,
Dark Messiah: Might and Magic. Swordfighting in that game is the best I've seen in a game. I'm still managing my way through it, but having great fun along the way, if not getting slightly annoyed over the obviously hammed-up love interests the hero has to choose between listening to.
And finally, I hit up
GOG about an hour ago and managed to download
Duke Nukem 3D for dirt cheap - $5.99! Only completed the first level and poked my nose into the second. Awesome, awesome game, which shows horrific signs of ageing and outdated practices, but still can pull off some of the best bad guys i've ever seen.
