Playstation 2 is probably my favorite. As long as the games still come out in PS2, I'll be happy. I'll be disappointed if they start all coming out on PS3 instead. >< |
|
360 for now. It's have a powerful system, some fun game and some big title to come soon. Some RPG, which the first version lacked, are finally coming. I find it quite high but it's defenitly less than PS3.
The Wii is laking some games mostly. If things on the market changes and some prices or games released changes my mind could change. For now, it's the x-box 360 ! |
This is an argument I’ve bored my friends, relatives and pets with for a long time, and I apologize in advance for unleashing it here too.
As much as I personally want PS3 to win, with its liniage of games which are tattooed inside my head for years to come, I doubt it will come out on top. Yes, it’s controller system has more on it than the 360s. Yes, the graphics, sound and processes is superior to anything the Wii could ever handle. But the simple fact remains; Playstation cannot do advertising for shit! The PS3 has been handled so badly that many of it's loyal subjects are shying away from it's reign as the king due to the fact that they no longer respect the machine. OK, I know at this point some of you are thinking "Who the hell cares if you don't respect the machine, it's not like it's a person" as it is usually the response I get to this first point. This is true, but when you are in a competitive dog-fight with the up-and-coming Xbox and Nintendo's long line of gaming pedigree if the public do not follow you it will easily find another to ally itself to. On top of their audience turning away, major gaming titles are turning away too. So far Assassin’s Creed, Devil May Cry and GTA have wandered onto greener (and rounder) pastures for a multi-system release, with possibilities of Metal Gear Solid 4 soon to make the jump. With all the other games "rumoured" to join the migration (95% of the rumours I put down to overeager 360 fanboys who have too much free time) you need to wonder as to why buy a machine if the competition are just taking the very reason to buy it away? Now I didn't forget the others. After the N64 and the Gamecube I've always stood to the reasoning that Nintendo cannot make a decent home console. They make a mountain of games that work perfectly when they fit in your pocket, but when it comes to sitting at home with the game they repeatedly fall short of making nothing but the rare great game, the odd good game, a long line of crap games and "Nintendo exclusives" (which come dead last in most cases, excluding Smash Bros.). The Wii is shaping up to be no different, which is such a shame too as I had high hopes for this being Nintendo's star-shining comeback out of your pocket and back onto your TV. The main reason I believe this train of thought is due to it's games. With the system like the Wii you don't need to be taking existing game formats and simply tweaking them to fit the Wii. After 2 days of playing the Wii Zelda and an hour of playing the GC Zelda in store I found myself trading in the Wii version for the Gamecube version. The game IS a Gamecube game! Just by adding in a fishing mini-game and swinging the Wiimote "LIEK A SWORD!!111oneone" is not going to make the game more suitable for the Wii. The alternative to this is when they make a game which only manipulates a solitary function of the system. Wii Sports is very fun the first time you play it, but it's just Wii's way of saying "Look what this console can do!" After a week or so the game is dull and only makes an appearance when the parents come up and feel like they found a console they can play to keep fit. OK, so the game is free and I'm not one to look a gift-horse in the mouth, but this isn't the only game they've done like that. The problem with making a game to impress is that a time will come when the player is no longer impressed and just wants to have fun. What the Wii needs is games which when the game designers sat down to think of what to make they thought "Hey...You know how the Wii uses motion sensing? Well how about using this system to make a whole game?" Obviously this was going to be a problem with the Wii at first, but they really need to kick this out ASAP before the audience loses all hope. Otherwise Nintendo might as well claim defeat and just sob on it's seat as the king of the handheld consoles. With it's year head start on the competition, it's long list of exclusives already and "penis-envy" system known as "Xbox Achievements", XBox currently has the system sown up on all fronts. Its got the familiar faces, new-challengers, superb online-reliability and backing to throw it's money at gaming companies to buy-out PS3's exclusive titles, Xbox has got a firm grip of the game ball. It's only let-down is that it's gaming system has already been done. 2 joy-sticks, 4-direction buttons, 4 face buttons and 4 shoulder buttons....welcome to the N64, PS1, PS2, the Gamecube and the Xbox (give or take a button or 2). While PS3 and Wii are dabbling in the science of motion-gaming controllers the Xbox sticks to basics and delivers what is familiar. It's working for now but how long can this hold up? Sooner or later there will be that one game which captures motion gaming to a T and collapses the ass off of Xbox's system. This war might lead to disappointments and much to expect, you KNOW the next 5 years will be good for a gamer. |
As much of a PS2 fan as I am... If I were given a chance to get one of these consoles for free, I'd go with the Wii. Sure, it's not technically a next generation system, and the name is silly, but it has more games on it that I want than the other two. And it has Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, which is an instant win to me. 8D I adore the Zelda games.
The PS3 games seem to be severely lacking to me, and as for the Xbox.. Those are just not my style of games, I guess. I'll take the RPGs over the first person shooters anyday, kthnxbai. Not that Xbox doesn't have RPGs or PS doesn't have shooters, but you get the idea. |
PS3 = pricey system that are losing to many titles to make it worth getting when you can cop a 360 for a cheaper price, more games, and better online play
360 = love the system but it has to may hardware/softwear issues, the rate of people sending their consoles in to get "fixed" is crazy and sometimes it not even the system itself its actually the games, where i've seen one to many time games themselves not working on a atleast 5 different systems Wii = the BIGGEST problem with this system isn't the power its Nintendo, they have a BAD habbit of pushing third party companies to the side, or making them wait, its even be said that for companies to cop a dev kit, they have to wait 3-6-9 months, by then the company like why the hell bother?! the wii is a system that can get people up off their ass, but when it doesn't have the ammo for the weapon its like why bother?! i love the wii and i see what it can do but come on nintendo, ya doing the same thing that they did with the n64/GC/ and now the Wii over all biggest problem.....game cost...60+ bucks for a game ps3/360 are now really crackin your piggie banks and puttin a dent in your wallets |
The wii is a one of a kind thing it does what it says on the tin.

• As of current I am rather content with my Play station two. Because it has my favorite game of all time. And unless Namco decides to continue Xenosaga on Play station three then I might just buy it. Thou the Play station really really burns a hole in your pocket. I mean the system itself is very expensive and so are it's games. And I for one can't really spend that much money on a game/console. So for now I'll stick to my Play station two and communities like this.

Yuki Rosaro, sop reading my brain. O_O You have almost the same argument standpoint as I do.
As far as the PS3 is concerned, I'm seeing the saga of the Sega Dreamcast all over again. Yes, there are some differences about the circumstances of the systems, but it's all boiling down to the same thing. Great company that produces wonderful consoles and games, and then WHAM. One major console misstep, and it's all over. Next thing you know, the company's only sporadically making games until they're bought or quietly die out. I believe Sony's already reduced the price on the PS3, but what they really need are some good exclusive games. FAST. You have to admit- so far their releases and lineup aren't terribly impressive. Yes, there are some great ones coming, but they're either multi-platform release or are too far down the line to help this system. As such, I'm probably like a good number of other Sony fans-- holding off on the system so I can watch and see what happens. If it manages to pull through- awesome. If not... well, Resident Evil 5 is slated for the 360 as well.... |
Man the dreamcast really took a blow from the ps2 simply cause of the dvd support, it was so sad to see the system take such a hard nose drive into videogame history, and sega never really bounced back from that either, even with the merging with (that other company that suddenly slips my mind for some reason, they made guilt gear tho) i heard they still are in debt after all these years :?

Sony on the other hand released the PS3 with the strong winds of the PS2, which did amazingly well since it's release. It's fate is more similar to the SEGA Saturn than it is the SEGA Dreamcast. Besides, unlike SEGA, Sony are not independantly a gaming company. It's got it's greedy little fingers in so many pies that it's got the financial backing to let the PS3 take a few hits and weather the storm until the market tips in their favour. It's just a question of how much crap they are willing to take until they give up hope, especially when they've went on major press release saying "There will not be another Sony console until 2016". |
People say that the Wii is for younger children due to the games, but I disagree. Though the games ARE less violent and more family-friendly, that doesn't mean that they're not fun. Twilight Princess has a decapitation in it (though the player doesn't see it), but the gameplay's still easy enough for kids to get. Also, it doesn't cost 600 dollars.

I say the XBOX 360 since I haven't played the others.
|
I want to get a Wii more than I want to get any of the other systems, and my second choice would be the PS3 because I've enjoyed my PS1 and my PS2. I have never been very fond of the XBox or its selection of games. It's really annoying to me when there are XBox exclusive games that actually look good, because I can't justify getting one just for the handful of games I might play. ;\ |
I <3 my Xbox 360. I've played on a Wii, and its fun and everything, its just that Xbox Live is just amazing. I love all the features of the 360 as well, like the Marketplace, where if I'm bored and I want to see a movie I haven't seen I can just rent it and watch it, and playing old arcade games is a blast. Plus all the games I love are on it, and I've been able to try out a lot of other games on it too.
|
I was a bit leery about getting a 360, but I opted to get that instead of a Wii since it has a lot more games I want to play and I know a lot of people on Live so it just made more sense to me.
I was FLOORED. Absolutely amazed with it. Love. It. To. Pieces. I'll get a Wii when more games come out, but I'm just not impressed with Nintendo anymore. The controller intrigues me, but not enough for me to get it right now. I have a dozen games for the 360 I'm working on--and I get free game rentals at Blockbuster since I have their online program so game price isn't an issue. I just keep renting and rerenting. I'm planning on preordering Halo 3 because the other two games were AMAZING. I'm a huge RPG fan, which is why I always loved Sony and Nintendo, but Microsoft dropped the ball there with the Xbox. Fable was a great game--but so freaking short. All other RPGs had terrible gameplay, so I was put off getting a 360. I am so impressed with the gameplay on the RPGs I've rented. I just love it. Best investment ever, IMHO. |

I absolutely love playing on the Xbox 360 but I think I would be more into the Wii if I had one. It looks like so much fun to play some of the games on Wii. >w<

The Wii.
I was such a huge fan of the Playstation... until the Wii dominated the market. Despite the lack of good games currently, the Wii is nothing like the other consoles I have ever played with over the few years of my life. I've only played Wii Sports, Zelda and Wario Ware... and they are just amazing. *-* I can never seem to get bored waving my stick around for hours and hours.~ On the other hand, I've been following the FF series ever since... and I'm kinda wondering whether I should get the PS3 just for that. >>; The PS1 and PS2 games were great nevertheless (not only FF). I have never been fond of XBox. Only played with it once. |
Hm. Well I'd have to say the Wii for sure <3. That system is so much fun. Although, it makes you look a bit odd playing it. Since your swinging a remote around I mean. But it's addicting really. It's sad to say I don't have one myself. I play it at my friend's house though. But I think it is a next generation console in comparison to others :]. I just hope it gets more games soon n__n.
Wii=Love xD. I have my weird moments >w< |
