  • Well I don't think I can actually say I have favourite games anymore, I jump around too much.
So now I just have games I'm currently playing, games I loved, games I hated, and games I want to try.

So games I'm playing right now are Team Fortress 2, Counter Strike : Source, and Halo 2 Vista. (Which I'd like to get into mapping for Halo 2, but I'm not keen on the system it has, while TF2 and CS:S I'm a mapper already.)

Games I loved, Devil May Cry series (Except 2.) Kingdom Hearts I and II (Though the second didn't appeal to me as much, but close.) Final Fantasy series (Except 8, 12, X-2, MQ, 5.) and the Half-Life series, among others.

Games I hated, well some of them I listed up there in brackets, but I also hated a few other games I had the liberty of trying.

But I'd have to say, Devil May Cry 2 and FF8 take the cake for my least favourites and huge disappointments.
As soon as I bought DMC2, I took it back in about a week...it was just horrible, I didn't even finish it, I stopped and said "Enough, this is horrible, It's not even worth leaving on the shelf, might as well get something out of it." so I took it back and got a trade in value so I could get DMC3 special edition (Up until then I had the regular one.)

FF8 not a thing was perfect with it except one little detail that made it worth playing.
The card game, the card game was fun, the most fun and non-annoying part of the game.
I hated the characters, I hated the junction system, I hated the lying from the promotional videos, I hated the battle system (If a battle/level up system allows you to beat the game at level 9, then boooo...no fun.) and most of all, I hated the story plot, it was by far the lamest game I had played until DMC2.

Games I want to try though, lots of those, I just lack the funds to get them and try them haha.

I want Devil May Cry 4, Metal Gear Solid series, God of War, Crysis (My PC won't even handle it.) and Halo 3, to name a few of the games I'd like to try/own.

Final Fantasy IX is my favorite game ever. It's got the best characters, best plot, and the best graphics of any Final Fantasy game. What? Best graphics? Umm... yeah, in my opinion, those beautiful still backgrounds beat the moving camera backgrounds of the newer Final Fantasy games by a longshot. Each area is distinctive and backgrounds aren't recycled and used the game. The battle system was the most fun too, because you had to learn abilities from your armor and weapons. Also, the chocobo mini-game had to have been the best mini-game in any Final Fantasy game.

I think one major reason why this game was my favorite was that it was the most like a fantasy game. There should be a reason why the games are called Final Fantasy and not Final SciFi. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed FF7, but it didn't really seem much like a fantasy game to me. FF9 succeeds in have many different races and cultures that play an integral part of the game. As for the other Final Fantasy games, they're almost always dominated by human characters. I want more black mages, rat people, and scary swamp creatures as playable characters in future Final Fantasy games. [/b]

I'm not really much of a gamer, but I'll have to say Sims 2. Haven't played it in a while though, my computer died and my back-up CD's aren't working, so I'll have to install everything from scratch and re-download all my custom content... And I don't plan on doing that until I can buy an external hard-drive to back up everything. I don't trust CD's anymore.

I also play WoW, but that's far from a favorite. I have a love/hate relationship with that game, I keep getting sick of it and quitting, but after a while I start missing it and get sucked back in to the addiction... Bad bad bad. Right now I'm on a rather lenghty break, but I know it'll only last until the new expansion comes out, if even that long :P

so far I'd have to say that Legend of Zelda Twilight princess is one of my tops. other than that I really enjoy the kingdom hearts series and the Final Fantasy series. I especialy enjoyed playing Star Ocean Till the end of time and the .hack series.

Okay, so I found a new game to love too~ Eternal Sonata. It's very cute. :3

Pixore - I agree, FFIX was definately the best. <3

O man, since christmas, we've been rocking the naruto game for the wii. I always liked the fighters from the GC. This one for the wii, even though its a remake of the 4th from the GC it is pretty enjoyable, especially w/ the wiimote. Prolly my favorite game currently.

  • I have a few favourite games. I've liked these for the story in depth, not for the graphics. Music was always a plus for these games.

First I'd like to name them and then state my reasons. Kartia: The Word of Fate, Xenogears, Persona 1, 2and 3, Final Fantasy: Tactics, SMT: Digital Devil Saga 1 and 2, and Xenosaga 1, 2 and 3.

Kartia: The Word of Fate: A little know history about this game. It was originally to be sold as Blockbuster rental. However, Atlus decide that it would be better to sell the same in retail stores because of the popularity that was steadily increasing in 1998. There are two different versions of this: The Blockbuster cover doesn't have the shiny letters that the retail version has. And, the two games have a different bar code. :o

My reasons: Kartia isn't for the children of today. The story is slow paced for character development and plot development. There characters have their own personality that allows the player to associate with them. There is some love in the story, but it isn't over bearing, which I always like. There are several hidden messages in the game that are hard to decipher today, some of them being a tad religious and family oriented. It is a very short game. At my first try, I couldn't beat in a week, more like a month. Now, at least a day. The game play is strategic. Meaning you do have to take the time to plan out your players and attacks, otherwise, expect to lose in the early turns.

Xenogears: A little history. Xenogears was suppose to be part 5 of the Xenosaga series. However, with a lack of funds, SqaureSoft pulled the plug and focused on Final Fantasy 8. The Xeno fan community is trying to petition that Xenogears be redone in the glory it should have been.

My reasons; Xenogears is a very mature game, regardless of the rating it is given. There are many undertones and hidden messages in the game. Many of which are about finding oneself in the world/universe as well as religion. I do not recommend it for someone who hears about it and knows nothing about it. The characters a great. You find each of their personalities to be flawed and interesting.

Persona 1, 2 and 3: They were developed by Atlus, but America was ripped off with the translation and character outline.

My reasons; These games are not sequels. These are stand-a-lone sequels that require no additional support from the prequels. These are well... not for children. They do have the tendency to go slightly over with pixel boobs and slight nudity. There is cursing and such. But I really do like the story line of the game. The characters are OK considering they are the American versions of the original Japanese characters. Not for children.

Final Fantasy: Tactics: I don't know the history for this one. XD

My reasons; I love strategic tactic games. They promote thinking in players. The story is great. It is in depth and keeps you drawn into the game. I had to actually place the controller down and walk away before I became too involved with the game. I love it and recommend this to everyone.

SMT: Digital Devil Saga 1 and 2: Published by Atlus. A sequel is rumored to be on the PS3.

My Reasons; SMT Digital Devil Saga 1 and 2 is a turn player 3D game. It has an intense storyline with characters of their own personality, characteristics and flaws. The main character is the player and little of his voice is heard except to battle cries.

Xenosaga 1, 2, 3: These games are NOT for those who want action. These are considered movie category games. These were made by Monolift and are only in a 3 part series unlike in the beginning where it was to be a 6 part series. Sadly, like Xenogears, Saga was rushed to the near end.

My reasons; I actually played Saga first before Gears, but I fell in love with the characters and story right in the beginning. The music is fantastic. It was a real change from playing Final Fantasy all the time. Like Gears, Saga has a lot of hidden meaning to the game. It isn't for those who will play it light heartedly. Sadly, there is no real replay value. Sure, you unlock a few things, but that is it.

Those are my favourite games. I have more, but I am getting tired now. XD

Kiss 01-03-2008 08:53 AM

Guitar Hero series. I'm big on rhythm games, and they're fun. Yes, I know it's not a real guitar, and I know it doesn't make me into a rock star, but I don't care. It's still a blast. <33

I love Tales of Symphonia. ; __; Raine, be mine, okay? <3

I'm also a big fan of~ hm. Street Fighter.

And Metroid Prime.

And just about anything by Nippon Ichi.

I'm still trying to work out why my absolute favourite is, and I'm having a lot of trouble. ; _; Maybe I'll try and figure out which game I've played for the most hours... xD;

Criah 01-03-2008 05:03 PM

My favorite game ever is Knights of the Old Republic...which is a Star Wars game, and so much better than the prequel movies, it isn't even funny.

I also love Jade Empire and Neverwinter Nights and in general, pretty much every RPG that Bioware has released.

Only, I game on a PC so I can't get Mass Effect. I can't justify the cost of a 360 just for one game.

kida 01-07-2008 10:59 PM

I love the old school Nintendo games, especially Mario 3, Zelda, and Tetris, but the ones I really enjoy playing most are games like Spyro, Crash, etc for Playstation, and Mario Galaxy for Wii. I don't have a Wii so I have to bum off my friends
I want to buy one first chance I get!

fairie2002 01-13-2008 05:17 PM

I love Kingdom Hearts to death, and it was the first PS2 game I got. I don't know why I love it so much, but it just seems to mean a lot to me. I guess seeing all the Disney characters touched me since I grew up watching Disney movies.

I also love the Ratchet and Clank series due to the humour, which has me atleast smiling every ten minutes. Not only that, I just love the gameplay. [Shooting things is fun, 'kay?]

I can't pick up which Final Fantasy I should specifically mention, as all of them are special in their own way. From the construction of the bridge after ridding the land from the first boss in the originall FF to the numerous amusing quotes from Kefka, to Vayne being super bad ass, I can't help but love all of them.

Mario Party 3 also has a special place in my heart due to the fact it was my first N64 game, and I play it with my dad every weekend even to this day.

And finally, Chrono Trigger. I haven't gotten very far in it, but I can't help but love it. The character are unique, the anime styled cutscenes are amazing, and it is an RPG that everyone should play. :3

KAMADIVA 02-03-2008 06:16 PM

My favorite game of all time is Devil May Cry. I just think that game is awesome. I haven't had a chance to play part 2 or 3 yet, but one is just so cool.
Other favorites are Jak and Daxter 1, Tomb Raider 2 and The Last Revelation, all of the Ratchet and Clank games and Silent Hill. I gotta admit, I do like The Sims, but I've only played up to the Double Deluxe.
I'd really like to try to play the Resident Evil games. I tried a few years ago, but I think my controller was messed up, cause I couldn't run. I could get the person to turn around in circles but they wouldn't run away so I always ended up dying.

sly254 02-11-2008 05:06 AM

I am a die hard Zelda fan. :o lol Ive always loved that series and I still do. Back in the old days of the ps1 I loved final fantasy and 2 other games the most . Tales of destiny 2 and legend of dragoon. Then the ps2 came with its new versions of ff and one of my favorite games there is final fantasy 7 dirge of cerberus. Then came the Xenosaga and Midnight Club series.Shadow the hedgehog owned gamecube and the lone Custom Robo game that made it to america from the japanese series takes a spot in my top favs. But nothing can top the legend of zelda

MasterChiefrei 02-11-2008 10:03 PM

I have a lot of favorite games but I want to talk about one of them which is Gears of War! I can't get enough of it even if it's an older game...kinda and everyone is all about Halo 3 and such but I looooove GOW. The storyline is awesome, the graphics have the real yet fictional feel, the characters are amazing, and the maps on online play are a lot of fun.
The thing is I was searching and looking for a GOW thread and...couldn't find one. I don't want to start one only to see it's already been made but I checked around and came up empty so...quoi? Anyways I can't wait for the sequel to this game and the movie coming out for it. There are a lot of possibilities for new weapons and terrain I almost can't contain myself. >w<
At first I didn't like the game because I thought it was first person shooter but when I saw the difference and fact that you can see yourself and around you I felt better. No "eye view" crap which is annoying when playing Halo.

vg_goddess02 02-12-2008 11:56 PM

Right on, Pixore! That's my favorite Final Fantasy, too. However, whoever I tell that always laughs at me and has to argue how 7 is the greatest. 7 is cool, but I didn't care for it as much as some of the others.

Anyways, my favorite is...well, the whole Silent Hill series. And, yes, that includes 4. I just like the element of them and it's a fun and interesting series.

Stardragon 02-13-2008 01:56 AM

One of my favorites is Fatal Frame.

amyleto 02-13-2008 03:31 AM

I think it would be easier to break my favourites up by platform (though I won't cover every platform, I'm sure).

NES - Super Mario Bros. 3: It was definitely my favourite of all the Mario Bros. games ever made. I also think it was the first Mario Bros. game that I was able to beat (and perhaps the first game in general that I ever beat).

My aunt used to babysit me when I was younger, and I would play that game with my cousin every day when we came home from school. No matter how many times I play through it, I always love it. I never play level 7, though. I hate that place. It's much too difficult for me.

SNES - Contra III: There is something appealing about beating down on a lot of alien demons that I can't put into words. I always played this game with my brother, and some of my favourite memories of the time I spent with him growing up are of playing this game with him (along with Double Dragon II and Abe's Exodus).

N64 - Tetris 64: I never really got into the N64. I have really small hands, and those controllers were too big for me. I love Tetris, though. XD

Gamecube - Animal Crossing: All right, I must admit it. This game has to be the biggest waste of time there ever was. That is part of what makes it fun, though. It's a cure (and cause) for boredom. Besides--you get to play old NES games in it!

Playstation - Tony Hawk's Pro Skater: When this game was released, it was completely epic. I can't really put the awesomeness of this game into words. This game made me like professional skateboarding rather than the other way around (I never minded it--this game just made me get into it).

Playstation 2 - Xenosaga: This was the first game I ever watched that took my breath away with the cinematics. The story line was very intriguing, and I adored this game! All of the characters have so much mystery behind them that it leaves you wanting more! That makes for a good game and a good series.

arcrys 02-16-2008 06:42 AM

I think my favorite game would have to be ff7, the one with cloud.. I played it at my cousins house when I visited one time, and every spare moment I had I was playing it, my cousins got annoyed :(

One day I'll have it for myself, one day...

KatMagenta 02-16-2008 07:12 PM

I can't choose just one game because it's difficult to compare a handheld game to a console or a next-gen console.

I've had every Gameboy from the Gameboy Pocket to the GBA SP. My favourite original Gameboy game is Kirby's Dreamland and before anyone laughs I was probably about 8 at the time I got my first Gameboy. It was cute, simple and replayable. My overall favourite Gameboy game would have to be Golden Sun, 1 or 2. They have such a depth of story and beautiful graphics. The battles just work so well too, it's a real pleasure to play and you never want to put it down once you start.

I love the Zelda games as well, my favourite N64 game has to be Ocarina of Time. It's such a wonderful story and everything has been so well thought out. It used to be a bit hard for me when I was younger but I had no problem at all revisiting it when I was older.

For PS2 my favourite game is FF X and X-2. I never really got into the Final Fantasy series because I never had a PS1. I thought FF X was a good place to start and I understand why people can get so obsessed with the series and the characters. I thought the idea of a sequel was great, and I have to admit I did like all the dressing up and watching the spheres. A close second would have to be Zone of the Enders, I love flying about in the big robot thing. I picked the game up scond hand for £3 ($6) too and I think it was a bargain.

For Gamecube I really enjoyed Soul Calibur 2. I started off button bashing like crazy but I eventually managed to actually learn some proper fighting moves. I like Mario Kart too, but the single player wasn't half as good as playing with friends.

For Wii, I have to say Zelda: Twilight Princess is my favourite 'serious' game. I didn't think it would work with the Wii controller but swinging it about like a sword is actually really fun. To be honest I use the Wii more for party games and I'd like to buy Guitar Hero 3, but my parents say it's too expensive.

PC wise it's a close fought match between the Elder Scrolls games and the Neverwinter Nights games. I think I prefer Morrowind and the original Neverwinter Nights to their sequels. I have all the expansions as well. Neverwinter Nights is probably the game I've started again with different character classes the most.

I didn't intend to type this much!

BlackCat 02-24-2008 08:22 PM

Oh my, just one game?

I really love Tales of Legendia, although the rest of the Tales fans don't seem to be aware of its existence. Yes, it has a crappy battle system and yes, the graphics are a step back from the other games. At the end of the day its not about graphics or the battle system, its about the story. I believe Legendia has better character development than Symphonia, and its music wipes the floor with the other Tales games. I could listen to the soundtrack all day.

But it wouldn't be fair not to mention Okami. Okami has the most beautiful graphics I've ever seen in a game, even better than FFXII. Playing Okami is like stepping into a traditional Japanese painting. And come on, how many video games are there where the main character is a wolf goddess? That is just made of win.

Gordon Freeman 02-24-2008 11:20 PM

i personally like the entire half-life series of games, from half-life one to half-life 2 episode two, and all the side games like blue shift, opposing force, counter-strike, team fortress(not number 2 though, i hate that game), and, my absolute favorite game, Portal.

[.Miss Bat.] 02-29-2008 09:07 PM

My favorite game of all time, is seriously cutesy wootsy, and probably lame. xD BUT.

My favorite game is Rhapsody: A musical Adventure.
Yes, thats right. Pink, fluffy, romance, crazy fighting system that includes firework-style sugar candy,
Pancakes, Flan, Hearts, and Cake. XD Yes, cake.

Besides that, I love the Final Fantasy series, as well. My favorite is 8. 8 Or 9. xD;

Buttt...

-Chrono Cross
-Threads of Fate
&&

-Legend of Dragoon

Come shortly after. XD;

Kyuuki 03-04-2008 03:01 AM

mine would have to be Suikoden II. I adore the game, I've played it enough that I've got a best time of just over 11 hour of play time still getting the good ending. the storyline is involving, the main cast of characters are interesting, the sidequests and little extra scenes you can stumble upon give it lots of replay value. seriously, if you're lucky enough to find it give it a try!

I also love the pre-PS Final Fantasy games, the Phantasy Star games, and the Lunar games.

Motion 03-04-2008 10:15 PM

Grand Theft Auto series, Metal Gear Solid series, and Kingdom Hearts I & II. :)
