i play vidoe games to yeah escape the stresses of rl and just because its fun for some addicting reason i also play them as a hobby and its something to do when im bored it also makes me feel like im in another world that there is no such thing as stress and i love the personalities of the charcters and i use some of the stuff from video games for ideas and imagination wich is also fun for me ^_^ i often make up video games based on other games in my mind atleast so thats why i play video games i also like to wifi battle in pokemon diamond and pearl ^^

I play games to unwind, to forget about things for a bit, to be immersed in a story or just have fun playing puzzles. I really like games that show me things I haven't seen before the best, ones that can't really be put into a category, like Katamari Damacy or ICO. But familiar games can be great too, you can always fall back on straight-forward RPGs and Tetris-style games.

i like playing games because there like stories that you can change and alter to your own satisfaction, a light path or a dark path, a happy story or a sad story

I play online games for the creativity they offer and the challenges. I also have made "friends" all over the planet :D It's fun to chat and learn about other people. What amazes me is that we are more alike then different! :D

Well aside from what I believe to be most peoples main reason for play(Stress or escape from RL) I actually look forward to seeing something new in every game. I believe a game is nothing if it lacks originality, I play not only for the escape but a chance to expand my imagination on things. In few games I gain a new perspective of thing that I never dreamed of thinking about.

The main ingrediants for any Movie/Game/Anime is always the same formula to me,
1. Action
2. Drhama
3. Makes me think
4. Originality
5. And what I belive to be most important, is just the right amout of comedy.

Which believe you me it's not so easy to achieve all these at once, but these miracles do happen, a few prim examples are Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy though FF dose tend to have little to no comedy but it is in there in a few places.

But I guess I'm mainly saying is that I seek out a new adventure that will take me to such captivating places.

Games is a great way to relieve stress, escape from reality as you've pointed out. :)I mean, I'd rather have fun whacking at zombies/monsters than open the tv and hear depressing news-terrorism/disease/starvation/environmental problems etc. etc. :(

I'm not really much of a gamer though, I'm completely happy to play a single game for 3 months or more until I get tired of it. XD But, it's because of videogames that paved the way for an online persona for me. The username I use is from a cult PS2 game 'Shadow Hearts'. Not many know of this game, or have even heard of it, but I love it to bits that I sought to find other fans which was only possible in the internet, so now I come online for socializing as well as researching for school.

I think now I would say, "I've met the best people I know through gaming." Online and off, that definitely applies. Offline I tend to meet more people that are anti-gamer though.

One of the main reasons that I got into games was because they were fun and eventful. I grew up mostly on playing on the SEGA Genesis or playing PC games. Most of what I played were either Disney games like The Lion King or Fantasia, old shooters like Wolfenstein, and platformers.

The last and other main reason I play video games is shallow. If the graphics aren't good, I can't do this (though it doesn't mean I won't play the game, I'm not that shallow). The graphics of the areas I can travel in, whether they are prerendered or just amazing CG, take me to places I'd love to be. I love areas, because I can escape. I can't travel to jungles and shrines where I live, and I can't travel deep into caves...

So that's another reason I play. To emerge into a world that isn't so torn up by humans. XD

I like to play games for many reasons. It's a fun way to spend time with friends and family. Also it's just a good way to burn away extra time. I like games for their gameplay and storylines. It's like an interactive tale. I like taking part in playing a game, and it makes me feel accomplished when I beat the game. But I also play video games because it's a fun way to learn. Some people don't think people learn anything from video games, but I have. I have learned a lot of things from games. Games are a great way to connect with people and to learn, I think.
