I was wondering, does anybody want a career in making video games or anything dealing with 3d animation? If so why or which company would you wanna work with. For me its either Square Enix(sp?), Clover studios(okami), or maybe Ubisoft or Sony Maxis, or EA.

Personally I'd only goto Square if it meant directing a game and creating the story to it, their later stories sucked royally.

My dream is to become a video game designer! x3 I love coming up with stories, but neither writing or movie directing appealed to me very much. I love the interactive element you can add to your stories in games, though, so I guess that's why I want to become a game designer/director. I don't really have any particular companies that I would like to work with in mind, yet, though. I want to design RPGs, so I guess square would be one of my first choices.

Square Enix! I love their games TT___TT

I'm not into making video games, but my cousin lives with this guy renting out one of their rooms and he's one of those people who does the cging in games. His work is so cool ;___; His works reminds me of Final Fantasy. xD

You see, that's a huge problem that they have in the video game industry. There are way too many people who wants to just do the design and just come up with ideas all day, but they don't want to do any of the work like coding and stuff. It's great that lotsof people have ideas, but there aren't enough people interested in the actual programming and making it happen to let all of these ideas be made.

My brother just graduated from Full Sail like two weeks ago, and he said that almost half of his class flunked out because that's all they wanted to do -- come up with game ideas.

It's not enough if you wanna make it in the industry, sadly.

I know that he would like to get a job at Bethesda or EA, but he has heard that the way they treat their employees isn't so hot, so Bethesda is his first choice.

Personally, I'd like to go to Full Sail for their graphic design program, or maybe their 3D animation stuff (or at least learn the animation on my own) so that I can help out the game design kids with their final projects.

...sorry for the massive post.

I tried programming for a while, but I had a really tough time getting the concepts. I dunno, I could do the projects and I did alright on tests--I got an A in all three of the classes I took, but it just never really "clicked" for me.

I would be interested in particpating on writing the script for a story. Game design interests me too, but from what I understand you need some art skill for that...I'm kind of lacking in art skill.

I want to become a video game designer when I'm older and do RPG's so Square Enix would be my first choice. Perhaps EA, but most likely Square.

I'm in school right now for video game design and animation. So it's most definitely my dream to work in this field. On one hand, I'd love to work for a company here producing some of the graphics and art needed for some of the awesome games out there. However, on the other hand, I really want to create some of my own games. There's hardly any American made RPG games out there, and it's completely dominated by the Japanese market really. All we have here are MMORPG's, but not really anything story and character based coming from the US. So it's really my dream to produce some games like this in the American market (and overseas too n_n)

I do want to make a videogame. I've learned to make 3D animation in highschool. What I really wanna do though, is make a dating sim game like they have in japan...Except yuri or yaoi as the main. I have the computer technology on my computer that I need, I just need an artist.

  • It's not enough to just want to design video games and come up with the storyline for them. It's also the programming and actual coding dealings that make a game come out. Currently, I am going to school for programming. It's tough shit! It really it, and most of the people I know don't want to do it anymore because of the strain it gives. But, I like it.
  • After programming school, I plan to head off to an art school and strengthen my skills as an artist.
  • As for working for a company, I wouldn't want to head to a big time company. To much is being expected and the stress is never ending. I'd prefer something that was under the radar, but still pulled out some bad ass games. But, if I had to choose, it's be Atlus. That is my all time favourite company.
  • Fyi; Clover is no longer in the gaming business. Okami and God Hand where the most recent games they put out before they went under.

Heheh. I'd love to, but I don't have the patience or talent to do the programming stuff.
