I got an Xbox (not the 360)

So I bought an Xbox the other day because I was sick of playing the same playstation games over and over. I bought with it Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 1 and 2, and some game called Gladius. I've also ordered three games online that I'm waiting for (Splinter Cell, Hitman, and Fable) and I've been putting some of my music on it, slowly but surely. So far I have all my Korn on there, Rammstein is next! ^_^
Anyway two questions generally.. Have any of you bought a "new" console like a bajillion years after it came out? And what games would you recommend that I get? ( I love love love RPGs of any sort, shooters are good stress relief, and I'll try just about anything that isn't a sports game.) my local store I get most of my used games from has a good return policy so I'm not afraid of getting a game I end up not liking. Besides most of the games I end up hating my boyfriend loves, so either way I'm ok.

Congrats on getting your X-box! :) Unfortunately, I don't know what games to recommend, sorry.

juniper_silver 05-04-2008 03:43 AM

Hehe, my favorite console is really old. I love the Nintendo/Super Nintendo... I don't think they even sell them anymore though D:

If you like war games, there's a game called Samurai Warriors for the XBox that's pretty good(I don't even usually like war games and it's still fun).

Setsunaela 05-04-2008 03:46 AM

@Ariadne - Thanks ^_^ I don't mind you can't recommend

@Juniper - I loved my NES to it's dying day, same for my SNES. I'll look and see if my store has Samurai Warriors for sure ^_^

I agree, the NES/SNES are two of the greatest consoles ever, however, I miss SEGA's consoles. They were always fun and ahead of their time.

juniper_silver 05-04-2008 04:05 AM

I never played Sega too much, but I do remember playing Sonic the Hedgehog on it. That was really fun.

Has anyone else here ever played the Lion King game for Super Nintendo? It was so hard! Mario 3 was my number one favorite though.

...Sorry I'm talking about consoles besides XBox Setsunaela. I hope you don't mind >.<.

Setsunaela 05-04-2008 04:25 AM

Haha consoles in general is fine by me.. I'm not gonna get all freakout!
I played and LOVED Lion King for Super Nintendo.. I got so frustrated because I died a lot but I loved it anyway.

juniper_silver 05-04-2008 04:29 AM

Now that I think about it, I really want to play it again. I wonder if it would still be as hard. There was this one part where you rode on an ostriches' back and had to jump and duck. That was terrible. It made me want to hurl the Nintendo across the room ^_^;

Setsunaela 05-04-2008 04:32 AM

That part i was actually really good at for some reason. All my family members kept making me do that part!

juniper_silver 05-04-2008 04:34 AM

Lucky duck! I had to have my dad do that part for me.

Setsunaela 05-04-2008 04:35 AM

Yeah i dunno why I was so good at that part it was so weird.

Tre Le Coco 05-04-2008 02:44 PM

lol i brought a game cube a few weeks ago for zelda xD;

anyway, meh there isn't anything particually interesting on xbox, i heard Psychonauts is a good one, but extreamly hard to get a copy of...we sell it pre-owned at work for $60AU, and only ever saw it once.

I bought an N64 when I had a sudden urge to play Hey You Pikachu when I was 14. Its a Pikachu N64 but it has the name "Sean" engraved in the top of it. It was used as you can see but why engrave your name in something you're gonna give back to the video game store?!

Erathene 05-04-2008 07:14 PM

I bought an Xbox crystal off of my boyfriend when he got his 360 last september. But seeing the 360 in action at his house all the time made me upgrade to a 360. I bought it today, but I haven't opened it yet; I'm waiting until after my exams finish to start playing it xD Motivation!
Xbox games I would recommend are Burnout 3: Takedown, it's got the racing element, but also the crashing cars element, which it makes it fun :D Even if you don't like racing games (like me) you'll love it.
Halo 1 and 2, if you're into 1st person shooters, shooting aliens and zombies ;3 it's fun online and against friends :D
Also, if you want a 3rd person fighting/fantasy game, i recommend Kingdom Under Fire: The crusaders. It's pretty good, you command your own group of warriors, and when you encounter the enemy, you zoom in on one particular character. The only slight downside is there is a lot of talking in between battles and fights; it can become frustrating, so you'll press skip and miss out on the storyline :/
I hope you find something you like ^.^

Setsunaela 05-05-2008 03:03 AM

@Erathene - Thanks for all the recommendations! I want a 360 but right now I can't afford it I mean for what I'd have paid for the 360 and 1 game I got all 6 games and the console for the xbox.. I plan on getting Halo 1 and 2 I've played both at friends' houses but they were out of used copies when i was in the store and they were like $4 more online so I figured I'd wait.

Heh, definetly. I got the Xbox a little while after it came out.

Games? Let's see... Definetly Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, Jade Empire was pretty good.

Morrowind ranks as one of the best games I've ever played, especially considering the system and graphics! The world is very deep, the customization options are very good, and you're free to do almost anything you want. It's a bit hard to get used to, but once you do, the whole thing is jsut fantastic.

Jade Empire was pretty good, but I was sad you didn't get to explore the entire world of it. Gameplay styles are pretty free, the story is good, graphics are pretty nice. All in all, a fun game.

Warning about Fable in white. No spoilers, but I don't want to tell you anything you might not want to know. The ending is THOROUGHLY disappointing.

Setsunaela 05-07-2008 03:36 PM

Pkero - Oh i know about Fable I played it on my PC and beat it. I wanted it for Xbox cuz my copy for PC was glitched and the ground/sky/buildings were textureless and all white.

Lantern Fish - I didn't even know there was a Morrowind game for Xbox.. I have it for PC but can't play it cuz my computer doesn't have enough RAM

Pkero 05-07-2008 06:44 PM

Also, Oblivion > Morrowind. But Morrowind IS good.

Ikarus 05-08-2008 03:38 PM

You've got the best Xbox RPG coming, Fable. Make sure it's the Lost Chapters one though. Otherwise the game is very short. Fable Lost Chapters adds like 2 times more gameplay and story. The original is good too though.

I would not recommend Halo 2. Sucks single player but multiplayer is good. Due to the fact Halo 3 sucked balls a lot of people are still playing Halo 2 multiplayer. Halo Combat evolved has the best storyline.

Splinter Cell is also a good one. Not sure about Hitman since I never played it. I love my 360 to death. I recommend getting a 360 and buying call of Duty 4!

Call of Duty 4!

Therein lies your problem. Call of Duty 4 is a better game. Therefore, it makes Halo look like crap in comparison. But Halo 3 did NOT suck balls, the campaign did. Halo is a multiplayer game, because the multiplayer was always the most popular.

Ikarus 05-09-2008 12:37 PM

Pkero || All of us have our opinions. The campaign did suck I know that much. But I prefer the Halo 2 multiplayer over the Halo 3 multiplayer. I do have to give my thanks to Halo for making xbox the most popular system with online play. If Halo wasn't born I believe the PS3 would lead the online industry.

Pkero 05-09-2008 05:14 PM

I personally prefer to switch between all the Halos on multiplayer, including Halo 1. It gives more of a challenge to be given different things to be used to. :3

But yes, I'm glad the 360 is most popular as well.

Kasumi 05-20-2008 01:28 PM

You should pick up Fatal Frame 1&2.

Angelspit 05-21-2008 12:35 PM

I would recommend Tony hawk games, if you are interested in skating games.
Or Tim Burtons the nightmare before christmas: oogie's revenge.
