I remember watching these shows when I was younger but they don't even show these shows anymore, and it sadens me.Discuss:What your favorite old cartoons were,Do you miss them?
|
Depends on what you mean by old cartoons...How old are we talking here?...Some old cartoons..NOT!...Some yeah, they come make a come back.
I think it's fun to see older cartoons that I've never seen before. Sometimes I get a feel for how things were at these times or the general way cartoons were done. |
Well since i am getting close to 30 i grew up with old school stuff like thunder cats, silver hawks, the original he-man. You know the retro stuff.
I guess as a kid i always liked thunder cats best but now that i watch it as an adult i cant get into it as much, i prefer some of the later cartoons like animaniacs, freakazoid and such, then i eventually just went to anime and told american animation to GTFO XD |
Woot old cartoons!
I'm only 19 but I still grew up watching things my parents did. One of my favorite scenes from any old cartoon is the skeloton dance thing. Awesome!! "Lets go get a picka-nic basket Booboo" lol |
Ow old cartoons. When cartoons had no point or lesson in them
Freakazoid pinky and the brain Might ducks.. ow goodness the list goes on! I kinda wish they bring back the old ones just for the fun of it. |
Well, "old" 90's cartoons were a big hit with me.
It was ALL ABOUT FREAKAZOID BABY I wish I had spiky hair like him, and was able to run around in red underwear. |
MY FAVORITE OLD CARTOON IS LOONEY TOONS! :lol:http://www.saranair.com/images/others/looney_toons1.jpg

I'm a 1980s baby so I had a few old cartoons that I used to catch
We had My Little Pony, which was pretty epic at that time. So many types of ponies dammit! I could never remember any of their names but I remember there were these flutter ponies that could fly and unicorn typed ones as well. Oh, and there was the movie as well with the evil schmooze (?) I'm not sure how to spell it but it was just dark purple goop XD Along with my little pony were the Moon Dreamers. Wow, that was pretty cool too and I remember they were really cute and controlled dreams or something like that. They had their own tiny space station and each one had different roles there. There was only one guy though and his name, I remember! It was 'Sparky' I also had thunder cats and saber rider, Voltron, GI Joe, Robot Master and Hammer Man. It cracks me up thinking of all these cartoons especially Hammer man because I'm now thinking of the shoe episode with 'Paula Bunyan'. The utter stupidity of the shoe makes it even more funny! Smurfs! Ooh smurfs were interesting to watch because once again, there were so many! And the all looked the same except smurfet, papa smurf and brainy. But the others just had the same face or different hats and builds. My favourite was Jokey and Handy. Handy because he seemed like the most hardworking smurf and jokey because without him, the smurfs would all have he same voice almost XD |
I was an 80s baby as well.
My favorites were: Rainbow Brite - Who doesn't love Rainbow Brite. I wish they would put it out no dvd like they have some of the others from about the same time. They keep redoing them as well. After what happened to poor Strawberry Shortcake I am hoping that they just leave well enough alone. She brought color to the world and fought Murky and Lurky who wanted everything to be gray and brown. The Carebears - Now this is old school Carebears, not this new skinny Carebears that come in weird colors and have no cousins. My Carebears has Grumpy Bear who was the best Carebear. I have two stuffed ones from when I was little. I also loved the cousins. Lotsaheart Elephant and Swiftheart Rabbit were awesome. Oh and there was a movie which I have searched everywhere for (you can find it on youtube) where the Carebears went to Wonderland to help Alice. It was genius. Transformers - Yes there is a movie now and I commend them on getting the same (or so similar you cannot tell) voice for Optimus Prime. I still miss the cartoon. I need to buy it on dvd. Bumblebee was always my favorite and there was a girl one that was pink.... I think her name was Archie. My Little Pony - As a suppliment to my eighty someodd ponies toys I had the show was essential. I used to play with my My Little Ponies every single day. On the new stuff they are all pink now. What is up with that? Tundercats - You cannot be a child of the eighties and not enjoy Thundercats. Supposedly since Transformers did so well they are making it into a movie. That will be interesting. Thundercats are go! |
Quote:
I never had any My Little Pony toys because they weren't popular in my country. My aunt had to tape the show in hong Kong and then we get to watch them here! But again, the toys now are really so pink! they've lost a lot of their colours! Thundercats the movie! A lot of us are really waiting for that. I can't believe how epic it would be and who will play Mumbra XD i used to have the vehicle thing and even Liono's sword and my sister would say, 'Thunder! Thunder! Thunder! Thundercats! HO!!!' and lifting the sword in the air! Oh I actually forgot Alvin and the chipmunks! I have to admit, I had the newer version where they looked much more huggable and fatter with round cheeks instead of the skinny ones. But they were really cute too and we got the Chipettes as well! I loved it when Britanny and Alvin would argue nonstop! Wow! I feel old talking about this ^^" |
Invader Zim, hands down! It's so stupid it's hilarious! I LOVE that cartoon and I can quote it. I have the whole series on DVD, but I'm still sad that they canceled it. I'm kind of pissed at Jhonen Vasquez for not making more episodes.
|
My favorite cartoon was always Batman the Animated Series. XD The one from the 90s. It's not way too old, but I loved it so~
|
Oh my gosh, Pinky and the Brain was my favortie show as a kid! I used to wake up every saterday just to watch it at 8:30!
|
I remember those, I loved Looney Toons, but I also loved Jem and the Holograms and Beverly Hills Teens too. I also watched thanks to bro He-Man, Voltron, Robotech and Battle of the Planets which I guess 3 of those ended up being my first Anime shows to watch. Also watched Mr. T. and some other cartoons too, I also watched old ones from the 70s that probably can only watch now on Boomerang. I also loved Smurfs, there's supposed to be a Smurfs movie that's rumored to come out in the future.
|
How could I forget Jem and the holograms! That was pretty epic though now thinking back about it, I realize the guy is such a sleazebag cheating on Jem with her real self. He didn't know that they were both the same person so he's thinking, 'Oh, she won't find out anyways if I am kissing another girl'. Technically, he isn't cheating since it is the same girl. but the intentions of going out with two girls at once was there! Last time, when I was young, I probably didn't think of it this way but now that I am older, he really is a scumbag...
He-Man! I forgot about that one too! hen they had She-Ra too which had almost the same set of characters! I actually don't remember much about the cartoons since we only got to watch a few episode but more on the books since we had more of the books than the cartoon. Making He-Man into a movie would be pretty cool now that they can spiffy a lot of things up with technology! Smurfs having a movie is kind of freaky O.o But they did it with Alvin and the chipmunks... But I just can't imagine smurfs being put into live action unless they are modelled out into 3D which might totally ruin all its simple charm... So a movie doesn't exactly get me all too excited >.<" |
 They did make He-Man into a move. Back in the 80s. And it stunk so bad. I remember watching it when I was a kid. *laughs* I forget exactly what the plot was, but I know a portal opens from Eternia to Earth and He-Man and Skeletor pop out and other hijinx ensues. I forget what else happens, but it was cheesy.
And I was lookin' it up right now to refresh my memory and apparently there's another He-Man movie in the works. O.o |
I own the first two seasons of Invader Zim on DVD
But I would kill to have the Beetlejuice cartoons on DVD Oh how I miss them so much ;_; Oh and Ahh! Real Monsters; I miss that too. |
Once I got more educated, I realized the Smurfs was actually an awful cartoon.
Ok, so there's this group of all male smurfs and then they add a female smurf. Who is protrayed as highly sterotyped and weird. She's not part of normal society...She's defined as being female. That's her idenity, as being the token female char. The other smurfs are defined not by being male, but by having other characteristics. Children do not need to be exposed to this kind of ******. Actually the only redeeming feature I can get out of it is fond memories of a childhood cartoon and the figures I used to collect. It really does not get any worse for patriarchalism ideals in a cartoon. This cartoon reeks of sexual inequality. I would not subject my potential child to this type of animation ever...This is bad stuff...Sorry I know it's old and I'll take it from that context. |
Awww, I miss Ed, Edd, and Eddy, Dexter's Lab, Powerpuff girls...the old cartoons like that on Cartoon Network. OH! Johnny Bravo and Cow and Chicken. xD
|
My favorite cartoons were and are:
Johnny Bravo Cow and Chicken Courage the Cowardly Dog Thunder Cats Dragon Ball Z Dragon Ball He-Man Pinky and the Brain. Rugrats. Rockos modern world. Real Monstors. :[ All the good cartoons have been replaced by lame computerized wanna-bees. |
I loved watching those old cartoons. I used to get up on saturday morning and spend half the day enjoying them. Some of my favorite where:
Scooby doo: Now who didn't love that crazy dog and all his fellow mystery solvers. Although I think fred and daphne had a little something going on. Velma was my favorite though. I wasn't as crazy about the live movie, though it was okay. Transformers: Loved the action in this one Ghostusters: liked the original ones and not the newer ones. Less violent. looney tunes: Bugs bunny and daffy Duck: that waskily wabbit!! I laughed so much watching these. There is just so many: Pinky and the brain Jem Tiny toon adventures carebears power puff girls scooby doo now that i want to think of some more I'm drawing a blank. lol oh but they where all great. |
@cuddlyemokitten: Ed, Edd, and Eddy are still shown on Cartoon Network sometimes.
I caught them the other day, I love that show so much x3 |
I loved rugrats and invader zim.
