Coraline
In Theaters February 6, 2009 I loved the book, and got a bit excited when I heard there was a movie coming out. I'm happy Henry Selick is the director as well. :) I love stop motion animation. If you are into it, there are some great behind the scenes clips on youtube, showing how they make the hair and such. It really makes you appreciate the work they put into the making of the movie. Doll Hair The Biggest Smallest Movie Selick and Gaiman Discuss Coralin So how do you feel about being books being turned into movies? What was your favorite movie(s) that came from a book? Least favorite? |
The book "Coraline" was nice. I love Neil Gaiman, and I'm really looking forward to watching the movie adaptation. I liked what I've seen so far in those behind-the-scenes clips, can't wait to see the final outcome. :3 And I think it's great they're making it in stop-motion. Stop-motion movies are awesome. :D
|
I agree, I LOVE stop-motion! The time and effort they put into it is just amazing. I also love Neil Gaiman, I had first read his Sandman series, thats how I found the book when I was looking for other works of his.
|
I still haven't gotten a chance to read the book but I'm trying to find it before I see the movie. I love how it says "From The Director of The Nightmare Before Christmas" and almost everyone assumes it's Tim Burton. But the movie looks great and I'm sure Selick and his crew did a wonderful job on it.

I haven't read the book, nor did I ever hear of the book till about 2 hours ago. But I really want to go see the movie. And from the previews stop motion really was the way to go. Yay for Henry Selick!! |
Neil Gaiman is genius. That said obviously I love the book. The movie looks like a pretty good adaptation and I agree with what you said above about the stop motion. It fits the story really well.
|
That's really awesome! :)
I saw the doll hair video on youtube. It was pretty interesting!!! I want to watch the movie sooo bad |
i am so going to watch that movie *__*
|
I haven't read the book but I saw the trailer for this a few weeks ago and it seriously looked great!
I have watched quite a few of the behind-the-scenes videos of the movie and it's really amazing! I love the stop motion technique they used and all the work put into this movie ^^ |
last night i went as saw this, and i must say
that it was lovely. visually it was mesmerizing, and the 3d enhanced it so much. and i loved spink and forcible, they were hilarious :] |
I'm seeing it tonight with my friends <3!
I'm so excited to see my first 3D film! And it just makes it even better that it is Coraline! |
i loved the book!
and the movie looks great too : D im glad it's animated cause if it wasn't ,the movie would probably ruined my vision of the coraline world just like twilight did ._. |
I just watched it. OH MY GOD!
It was amazing. I loved it so much. It is definitely a must see. It really was meant for stop animation. I think if it was done any other way it wouldn't have been 'Oscar worthy'. And he did stay true to Neil Gaiman's vision. I really am happy that it I staid till the end! I got the password to get the Coraline shoes contest. I also even got to see how they made the little mice! And Coraline's hat...I...want it!!! I am so making that hat XD. |
I just watched the movie and it was amazing!
What I loved the most was how some scenes would transition to the next scene, thought that was very creative. |
I love all stop motion films and I can't wait to see Coraline C:
*excited* |
I saw it yesterday in 3-D.
O: It was pretty good, it made this slow incline into darkness. |
i loved how the beginning of the movie starts out slow, and almost
washed out, and slowly unfurls in color, and personality. think that really played out well with how you were suppose to see her real parents and her other parents. |
Aw you guys make me sad that I most likely won't be seeing this movie in theaters and consequently in 3D ><;;
|
I wanted to read the book, as I didn't know there was one, but the movie disappointed me :C
|
I almost liked the movie. i think if i had read the books before going to go see it, i would have liked it more. I did not know there was a book out that was the basies of it. Were can i find this book? what type of book is it to?
|
You can find it at any bookstore I suppose, or library. ^_^ It should be in the children or young reader's section.

I was really excited about Coraline becoming a movie when I heard about it. I loved what was done with Stardust and that gave me hope. That paired with the fact that the team from The Nightmare Before Christmas was working on it as well made me think it couldn't go wrong.
I rushed out to see it when it came out and sadly I was really disappointed. The book has this this creepy surreal quality to it the the movie just didn't capture. All the frightening things that Coraline finds in the other mother's world were all cutesy and even when she stretches up tall she becomes sort of a spider instead of this gross thing that can't hold it's shape. I thought they told the story with the very least amount of effort. |
Coraline is my husbands favorite book of all time, o we went to go see it opening night. We even saw it in 3 D which was really good. I didn't get that sick feeling I get when I see most 3D things. I was very pleased with it. Surprisingly so was my husband, I expected him to blow a gasket over how they messed up, and, point it out to me for several hours.
|
I'm excited since I just bought the book before the movie came out and I can't wait to see it. It looks very unique and different from the other stop-motion movies I've seen.
|
I've never read the book, but I really loved the movie, I even saw it in 3D it was so much fun to watch. I loved the kangaroo rats and the cat.
