Great movies you've seen lately and what made them so great.

So, just recently, I saw the Big Lebowski and Pulp Fiction.
Yeah, I know I'm a bit late getting on those band wagons, but it was worth it.
Along with the Big Lebowski, I also saw Burn After Reading.
The Coen brothers just really have a way with dialogue like you wouldn't believe.
"This is what happens when you fuck a stranger in the ass!"

Pulp Fiction has all the best fixings in one place. Samual L Jackson, John Travolta, Uma Thurman and Bruce Willis.
You will not find such excellence elsewhere.

But you'll come close in Snakes on a Plane.

So, what are some really good movies you've seen lately? Or great movies you'll always remember? The instant classics; the top banana?

Best movie in the Universe? The Princess Bride, of course =P

Best movie I've seen lately though would have to be Batman: The Dark Knight. Despite Bale being not so great in it and sounding like a Pirate Dog who's just inhaled glass. The directing and writing was awesome, and Heath Ledger I think put on his best performance. I was really disappointed with him in Brokeback Mountain (omg overglorified fanfik!), and half the time I couldn't even hear what he was saying, but in Batman he did a great job of bringing to life my Favorite Batman character. Now if only someone could play Posion Ivy without screwing her up. =\

Somehow, I could totally see Helena Bonham Carter as Poison Ivy.
I absolutely loved Heath Ledger in the role of Joker. It was wonderful. I can't say much for Mr. Bale...
But have you seen American Psycho? Oh, can we say he was great in that one? That was just a great movie all in all.

With a little green skin and some orange hair, yeah I think she'd do okay in the role.
But oddly enough I always thought Lucy Lawless would have been great in the role, because of the sensual but ready to kick your arse thing Ivy has going on.
and, no, i haven't seen American Psycho.

Hmm, L. Lawless....I'll have to think about that one..
You should see AP the next chance you get. If you like a little blood, gore, violence, and sex, not to mention a very hilarious commentary on the Wall Street man, then this is a definite must see!

Well, just last night, I watched Forrest Gump again after who knows how long, and I remembered once again why that movie was so heartwarming and definitely worthy of all the awards it received. :> The same moments still made me laugh and tear throughout the movie, and I absolutely love the simplicity of the method they used for storytelling.

"Run, Forrest, run!"
Classic. xDD;; <3<3

As for recent ones... hmm... nothing really stands out in my mind. =\ The Dark Knight was very effective in delivering the mood of the story. And the cinematography was awesome too. =P <3<3

I saw "The Lucky Ones" recently and thought it was bloody freakin' brilliant. "Atonement" was amazing as well. I really liked "Watchmen" even though most people didn't.

I guess those are the only ones that really stand out.

The best movie I've seen lately was Repo! The Genetic Opera, I absolutely fell in love with that movie ( I watched it six times, no I have no life D<). Just the actors and the plot made it a very good movie, Terrance Zdunich was a perfect graverobber too. . .

I LOVED Watchmen! The way they filled in the back story in the beginning credits was brilliant and I didn't even mind the little bit of changes they did. I was really wary when they said they were making a movie (The simpsons episode joking about watchman babies came to mind), I couldn't fathom them doing some of the more disturbing scenes, but they didn't shy away and make it a kiddy movie.

The opening credits were jaw-dropping. I literally was crying! So great, even to a fan who loved the GN.

Oh, sorry about that. Thanks!

And i'm afraid that i'm going to have to be locking this down as it is very similar to our preexisting "Last movie you saw? What rating would you give it?" thread.
