I love this show - and with this last episode of Madonna GREATNESS! I felt we should have someplace to talk. SO! gLee!!! <33 Please be respectful of people opinions here. Or we will get Sue to criticize your hair. |
I only saw the last episode of season one... but from what I saw it was pretty good. I want the dvds so I can watch the rest.
|
Hmmm, I haven't watched this week's episode yet. Is it out?
I really like Glee. I used to love it, but I personally think it's gone a little bit downhill. They need to turn off the freaking auto-tune and get better at lip-synching, and the plot's sort of fizzled a little. They went off in way too many directions before, and now it's lost a little magic. I still watch it every week though. It's literally the only TV I watch. =P |
*aw* I think it's gone up in cheese! ((As in the cheesiness factor)) Which makes me love it even more!
|
I've gone ahead and merged our two Glee! threads together.
|
Thanks Knerd - I'm sorry I didn't see it!

To be perfectly honest, I haven't seen a single episode of the show, although I have seen Jane Lynch's rendition of Madonna's Vogue video. I loved it, but then again, I love Jane Lynch and Madonna. The gay guy in the show seems too stereotypical and Californian. Mostly Californian, for that matter. I'd rather have a realistic gay guy in a show, or none at all. Sorry, but that's my personal take on it, from the overplayed commercials and the episode of Oprah the cast was on a couple weeks back. I'm gay myself, and really don't like the way the character is portrayed. Severe lack of depth all around, from what I've heard. Singing All the Single Ladies with the football team? Really? Yeah, thanks for reminding me why I know that I, like anyone, could make a career in screenwriting. Obviously anything ridiculous is bound to win over a crowd of mindless buffoons. No offense. But... blah. That's my main issue with the show. Besides that, the autotune and lip-syncing. Don't get me wrong, I love music videos and what have you. But only when the artists are 1,000% talented. And I'm not the type to watch a half-hour music video with high school drama segues every other commercial break once per week for twelve consecutive weeks and find that entertaining. I'd rather watch the news. [/bitter and unimpressed] |
I've find that I don't mind the extreme stereotyping and cliche of Glee. Maybe it's just found my soft spot somehow, or maybe it originally knew how cheesy it was (even if it's lost that a little now). I find Kurt (the gay fella) is actually one of my favourite characters, even though he definitely is one of the silliest characters.
I think the thing about it might just be that it's soooo bad in the sense of like, 'quality' that it's okay. It's not quite spoof, but it's not exactly taking itself seriously. I think Glee isn't meant to be taken with a grain of salt, and I don't think you're supposed to walk away feeling changed. It's like comedic songs. They're entertaining, and that's it, but I still like them. To me, I don't mind if they're not super talented, I just wish they weren't auto-tuned and lip-synched. Right now the auto-tuning is making it sound unlike they're real voices (and unnatural), and the lip-synching isn't wrong, but they're bodies don't match their voices because they're not singing and moving at once. I'm used to doing theatre where if you're dancing and singing, you're doing them together, and I think that a really good musical show would translate that onto screen. =| Oh well, I still love my Glee. |
Omgoodness people.
I like to dance. I like to sing along. ((Badly, cause I KNOW I can't sing! *rofl*)) This isn't a TV show that is suppose to be serious. It's just a fun show! ALL of the characters are stereotypical and horribly cliche'. That's part of what cracks me up so damn much! PLUS! Come on! They even have it so they have all the nationalities and even a handi.capable person. Just watch and indulge and HAVE FUN! *rofl* |
You can't tell me that that stupid Hope it gives you Hell song was fun though. That was just bad. =P
|
I love it! And I will continue to watch and sing along like a crazy cheesy person.
|
I love Glee. SO MUCH. <33
Although I find that because most of you guys here are in America (FYI, I'm in the UK) that means you are ahead in the series to me and if I read through the posts here it may be spoiler-ish. :D We have just aired the 15th (16th tomorow) episode of Series 1. How far ahead are you lot then? :) |
Muffin, I'm not sure, but I'm pretty sure we're on episode 15 or 16 right now. I don't think we're that far off.
And Faux, I want them to go back to doing show tunes and famous songs in an awesome way. Rachel or whatever's voice sounds silly singing a lot of the stuff they've been choosing lately. She has this like, forced exhalation/nasaly thing going on that bugs me. |
I didn't like last night's episode - it seemed kinda depressing. *frown*
|
Aaaggh, I didn't get to see last night's episode. I was out of my house, so I couldn't watch it on TV, and this computer is too slow to watch it online. I'll have to wait until I get my other computer back on Monday to see it. D:
|
I won't say anything more about it till then - then. <3
|
Just a question though- was it a good episode, even if it was depressing?
|
Glee is my guilty pleasure. xDD;;
Under normal circumstances I should dislike it, but Glee has this special way of making me love it despite all its flaws and cheesiness. XP <3<3 And Hermes, depends on which characters you prefer would get more screentime, I guess. ^^;; It's the screentime of different characters that has people either loving it or hating it, according to the forums and reviews. =O |
Well, I always like diversity. I'm still waiting for that Asian guy that dances to get lines. xD Him and the black dude are just the background. I wonder if they're even hired as actors. xD
|
They are the backup dancers! *lol* No really - I think that's the main "thing" for them.
And I got to play the soundtrack at work today! |
So far Rehab has been the only Glee song I've put on my IPod. Other than that I haven't really been shocked and awed by any of them enough to get and keep them.
|
I like them - Golddigger I have the most fun singing. *rofl*
|
That's one that didn't actually appeal to me at all. xD Their super-tuned singing just sounds silly in a hip-hop/rap song like that.
I think if they turned off the auto-tune a lot of their songs would be more appealing. They'd be more human. |
*rofl* I like them because of that! It makes me think I'm at Kareoke! <- is that how you spell that? *shrug*
Anyway, I noticed that while I was at work yesterday. *lolz* |
I love Glee, the Madonna episode was so good. Can't wait until tomorrow to watch the new episode.
My favourite character is Mercedes, and my favourite number is when they sang Don't Rain on My Parade. |
