Do you ever miss those old cartoons?

You know them. I forgot the names, but I remember watching them as a kid.

Like those on Cartoon Network way back when it still had things like Toonami and Adult Swim.

Thoth Star 10-14-2009 06:06 PM

Screw Cartoon network! I miss the cartoons of my youth... like wren and stimpy, daria, twin bees, bears of the den, the coyote and the road-runner, bugs bunny... D: Good stuff!

Shooga! 10-14-2009 06:07 PM

I was a 90's child so I miss all the old cartoons like Cow & Chicken, Ren & Stimpy, Sabrina The Teenage Witch, Dexter's Lab, I Am Weasel, Powerpuff Girls. You know, usual kid viewing.
I loved all the cartoon network stuff too, sadly there isn't really any decent things around anymore for my daughter.
You know your getting old when you don't like the modern cartoons anymore

Thoth Star 10-14-2009 06:09 PM

Thats how I feel, shooga... all the modern cartoons are CRAP! they don't teach anything. Not morals, not math, not english... Its just teaching kids to be MORE annoying & stupid! D:

Shooga! 10-14-2009 06:11 PM

Yep, exactly. Crappy modern day cartoons. xD
Oooh, and I loved the Annimaniacs lol, ever watch it?

K0a 10-14-2009 06:16 PM

I insanely miss those old cartoons on cartoon network. Samarai Jack, Cow & Chicken, ed,edd & eddy, Bugs Bunny, road runner, ect ect.
I think those are by far better than the recent additions to Cartoon Network. Flapjack, chowder, ect ect.

N/A

Scribblezzz 10-14-2009 06:22 PM

...It's a pity they never show these anymore.

Those cartoons were my life back then, no exaggerations.

Scooby Doo, The Adams Family, Swat Kats...

*sigh*

amulet 10-14-2009 07:43 PM

modern cartoons suck hard. i miss 90's stuff like rocket power, animaniacs, scooby doo, captain planet, digimon, thundercats, rockos modern life, and some others. wish they still played them

Kole_Locke 10-14-2009 07:59 PM

I used to watch the Smurfs, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Thundercats, Silverhawks, and Conan the Adventurer.

My favorite as a child was the Smurfs because I thought the little mushroom huts they all lived in were so cute. I always got a laugh out of Gargamel and Auzeriel ( I think that is how it is spelled?) I always liked how they were always so hungry and were plotting to have "Smurf Stew" and listening to that crazy cat's laugh. When I was little some of my dad's friends in the church were concerned that it had magic in it and that it was an evil cartoon and tried to tell my dad not to let me watch it.

As I got older I was more fond of the ongoing series of the Conan series. Very interesting battles and intrigues with characters. Especially since I was a big fan of Dungeons and Dragons.

Iishii 10-14-2009 07:59 PM

I'm so a 90's child. Darkwing Duck was the cornerstone of my early childhood. ;-; Other favorites growing up are Tale Spin, Ducktales, Animaniacs, Tiny Toons, X-Men the Animated Series, Spider-Man, I believe there is more... I also liked Power Rangers too. XD Those were the days. <3

I was bored and went to Cartoon Network one day and I forgot what show it was on, but I was like, '...WTF?' Today's... well, I don't know what to say anymore. D: I think I'll go watch my old favorites on the internet.

Riley_Dragonseeker 10-14-2009 08:06 PM

I miss the old cartoons as well, Hong Kong Fooy(don't know is I spelled that right) Swat Kats, Smurfs, Bugs Bunny, Scooby Doo, Digimon, Case Closed, Outlaw Star, Trigun,Toonami, and the old version of adult swim and many more. I don't like all the modern cartoons on cartoon network, because all they do is teach horrible things to kids. As far as it goes in my opinion if they ban anime they should ban all the horrible cartoon network shows.

Sephi 10-14-2009 08:23 PM

90's child = 90's cartoons :)
I do really miss em. Now the crap that they have is ridiculous.

BinkaKitty 10-14-2009 08:27 PM

some of the new cartoons are ok, but they do keep getting worse and worse. i grew up watching Rugrats, Looney Toons, Tiny Toons, and Animaniacs. i also liked to watch The Wild Thornberrys, PowerPuff Girls and some other shows that i can't remember the names of. i liked the older episodes of Spongebob, but the newer episodes are so stupid. i liked the way they made the old episodes. i noticed that in all Spongebob episode made in 2005 or later, Spongebob's voice is even more obnoxious and every character is just plain retarded. at least in the older episodes, there was usually a point to everything and the characters were a little smarter.

I miss the late 90s early 00s cartoons that were on cartoon network, as well as many of the 80s shows that I grew up with. Thankfully for me most of my favorites are on Boomerang. Its my new channel of choice save this month when Syfy is airing its 31 day of halloween, I love me some grade b horror movies!

LibertyBear 10-14-2009 09:14 PM

I'm still kind of a child, 13 years old, yet I miss stuff like looney toons and definately the original scooby doo's. Also, some other things used to appeal to me, but now there's stupid stuff like Chowder and Total Drama Action.

Couldn't agree more on the bolded part. Those shows just utterly disgust me. I think they were trying to pull the 'its so stupid its funny angle' but they failed miserably. whoever created those shows needs to go back to school i_;

Thunder 10-14-2009 09:33 PM

I miss Angry Beavers and Scooby Doo the most. They were my favorites, but I liked all kinds of things like Rocko's Modern Life, Spiderman, Zoids, Beast Wars, Ahh! Real Monsters, etc. Then, there were the old Loony Toons. I remember waking up super early every morning before school, watching about three shows as I was getting ready, then needing to run up to the bus stop just as the last finished or I'd be late. xD

I still like some newer cartoons though, like Flapjack and the Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy. Of course, I don't have kids so I don't rely on or expect cartoons to have a point or teach morals or anything like that. In fact, I like them to be mostly silly. They're what I watch when I'm tired of the love, shoot-outs, explosions, and death in live action movies.

TigerlillySpencer 10-14-2009 09:34 PM

not just old cartoons old shows period

ElysiumFate 10-14-2009 09:45 PM

Yeah, I miss the old Cartoon Network. The crap that they have on there now isn't suitable for children and, if I had kids, I wouldn't let them watch that channel for the most part. I miss the good old days of Kids Next Door, Rugrats, Ed, Edd, n' Eddy, Totally Spies, and that sort. The stuff on kid's T.V. these days is completely worthless, brainwashing BS.

Captain Howdy 10-14-2009 09:47 PM

I going to go ahead and shift this over to the Media forum. ;D

YamiSora 10-15-2009 06:06 AM

I really do, whenever I see my little cousins watching todays cartoons, I say to them that they missed some good cartoons when they were actually on.
I mean my favorite cartoon was Tom and Jerry!

Thats actually why I watch Fairly OddParents, it reminds me of those old cartoons and has the same tasteful humor in it that I loved as a kid.

Candicane330 10-15-2009 05:52 PM

I miss the oldies SOOO much. I guilty of still going on Youtube or some other site and watching some of them still.
I will pull out old recordings or tapes I have as well, some of my favoirtes were:
Goof Trip, Darkwing Duck, X-Men, Ahhh!!!! Real Monsters, Angery Beavers, and as far as Cartoon Network classics...
I msis Top Cat, Yogi Bear, Flintstones, the JEtsons, Johnny Bravo, Scooby Doo, Ed, Edd and Eddy and sooo many more.

Hallow 10-15-2009 05:59 PM

I'm kind of torn.

I like some of the old stuff and some of the new stuff. It just depends on my mood.

The really old cartoons were great.
I miss Animaniacs.

Strange that the show seems funnier now than when I was little - I get more of the humor now that would go right over a kids head.

kittykatt89 10-16-2009 12:45 AM

i really do miss all of them. my favorites were carebears, tom and Jerry, animaniacs, bugs bunny, and many more. i agree the shows on today are just stupid. my sister watches spongebob and it is just supid.
