I haven't seen this movie yet, but I heard that it was long and boring with mediocre storyline and awesome graphics.

Has anyone else seen this movie yet?

On a scale of 1-10 (10 being the best) how good is this movie and would you reccommend people go watch it?

Thanks.

I had planned on taking my son to see it tomorrow after school, but I would like to know what others thought about it first too.... I would rather see something else if it's not a good movie.

I heard mixed reviews, how the storyline was horrible and it was a bad ending but the visual effects were amazing. I also heard that there were alot of inconsistencies in the movie.

I'm not letting those reviews deter me from seeing the movie soon. I'm waiting until I can go see it with my free AMC passes. The reason why I'm not letting it deter me is that people often said back then that the newer version of Planet of the Apes and the Time Machine, was incredibly boring and bad.....I loved those two movies, so obviously, the reviews didn't matter to me because I loved it.

I'm hoping 2012 is like that, where I'll love it despite the bad reviews.

So I took my son to see it after school today and I gotta say, we LOVED it. It was honestly one of the best movies that I have ever seen, and there's nonstop action. It was awesome I thought, definitely one that will be going into my collection.

Movies like that are good but they do tend to frighten me a bit. I was laughing at all of the other end of the world things but this one I'm not so sure about, especially with all of the ancient civilizations having some say about the issue.

I saw a trailer of it on YouTube the other day and was mesmerized by the graphics. A friend of mine went to see the movie a few days later and came back saying that the storyline was so-so, but the graphics were amazing. She also said that most of the 'best parts' of the movie were all in the trailer. XD; I'm hoping on going to see it some day. *is a sucker for good mass-destruction graphics*

I have not seen it yet, but I would like to, all though I find these
'omg the world is gonna end on 2012' discussions a bit overrated xD
But I like dissaster/appocalypse movies for some reason...
I bet if I see it in the cinema's I find it a fine movie.

I am surprised Michael Bay didn't direct it with his "EXPLOSIONS!!!" lol I love robot chicken parodies

It wouldn't surprise me that the only good parts are the previews...thats how they get you in. It's like those GIrls gone wild videos, my hubby says all the cute girls are on the previews..then when you watch it there are all these ugly girls throughout the video. O_O

I'd seen it on Sunday the graphics were fantastic (except I disagreed with one of them) and the storyline was good I thought.

I also didn't agree with the ending though, they threw it in there for the happy ending when in reality it would have taken a lot longer for waters to recede.

i haven't heard much about it,
but seeing the commercial and the actors talking about it on rachel ray,
it looks extremely corny. really ruined my high expectations.
looked too much like independence day.

why are there always broken marriages in these types of films ?!

So I just watched the movie two days ago (Monday) and I must say it made me want to cry 5-6 times. If the theater wasn't occupied with other people I would've cried my ass off at the movies.

Yeah the movie didn't do much to make you feel for the characters but as I saw minor characters dying off one by one and risking their lives - I became devastated as I realized that the world ending ISN'T a good thing. I always grew up thinking that if the end of the world will happen, it'd be awesome and yes frightening, but when I watched the movie and saw the end of the world in a different light -- a devastating time where you have to say goodbye to loved ones, that's when the tears started coming down T_T

I held it in though because I'm too prideful to cry in front of people, I was relieved that the ending was somewhat happy, but it left alot of questions unanswered. And, water of that magnitude doesn't take a year to recede, I was hoping it'd say "10 years later" as that would've been more believable, but to travel around the world in those ships for a year and STILL don't see land? That didn't make sense at all.

I was also disappointed in the director, I've read mayan books that talk about their calendar, and even though the director put in all the theories about 2012 except two, it was still aggravating. One of the two theories he refused to put in the movie was a HUGE HUGE HUGE deal about 2012 and in all the Mayan books it talks about it. Why did the director felt the need to omitt one of the biggest and important detail (human evolution) from the movie? The other one was barely touched on, but Emmerich refused to show the galaxy changing and the impact it had on the solar system, not just Earth. That was also a major detail.

Seems like the director put all the bells and whistles in the movie but left out the orchestra. That was disappointing, other than that -- I'd give this movie a 8/10. It was sad, right to the point, and the animations were superb =)

POSSIBLE SPOILER. DON'T READ IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW.

The water didn't have to recede. They said that Africa hadn't been effected by it other than the land being raised higher by the earth's shift.

Also, it wasn't a year. It was 27 days. It was the 27th day of the 1st month of the 1st year. They restarted the calendar after the flood.
