I'm not really sure why so many people hate Robert Pattinson. I mean, some shots of him are actually quite attractive. (...and others make his head look gigantic, to say the least.) When they stay away from massive closeups where you can see every single blemish on the actors faces, it's really not that bad. I don't mind Kristen either, but I never had a mental image for Bella so for me it was just, eh, she doesn't do it bad.
New Moon was AMAZING. I'm so glad they switched directors. To all the people who think that the acting in the first movie was crappy: be grateful that the actors had the common sense to salvage what little was left of the Twilight story in the movie by the end of it. If Hardwicke had her way, it would have been a scary cross between an acid trip and a lighthearted giggle-fest. Seriously, any disagreement you heard about how the movie was done usually involved her attempting to butcher it. People already hated Twilight; she was dangerously close to making it worse than she already did D;
The second movie, with a director that the actors (from what I've read) seemed to have really liked and been able to work well with, was far better. They were also all more adjusted to their roles, and the movie stayed closer to the book so they could really read into their characters. Hell, it fixed up some of the screw-ups the FIRST movie had (like failing to mention Jasper had a power as well, for one.) Some things were changed but they didn't bother me. It was too entertaining and engaging to notice that.
Also, I think that things are far worse in the States at pre-screenings for Twilight, or maybe in cities in general. I went to the pre-screening for New Moon; our showing started at 10:15pm. We were in a reasonably medium sized city, I guess, and everyone was extremely mature and quiet throughout. At the end, everyone stood up and clapped. I think most younger people who would be the annoying fans likely wouldn't be able to get their mommies and daddies to give permission to go do that sort of thing, honestly. (No offense to younger fans; sorry that some of the fans have to create such a stereotype :/ )
If you watched the first movie, and sat through it and are deciding to not watch the second one BECAUSE of the first movie: don't. The first movie was the love story, it was shallow and it was butchered pretty bad. (I still enjoy it, but man - it really wasn't that grand.) The second movie has real special effects, real acting, it has ACTION and suspense, and a more believable "blossoming" love story that throws Bella in the center of a love triangle.
