Legend of the Seeker

I can't be the only one obsessed with this show. ;d
If you haven't heard of it, it's like LotR but very funny and the actors are very hot (girls and guys). It's a good watch.

Any other fans out there?

Runes 02-26-2010 05:26 PM

I thought it was kinda cheesy but the main male is hot <3

xtoxicenvyx 02-26-2010 05:26 PM

I've seen previews but I wondered if it was worth a go, guess I'll have to watch it sometime :p

Draciolus 02-26-2010 05:38 PM

I havent seen it, my friend has. And its based off of books by Terry Goodkind(Sword of Truth series). And according to my friend, they skipped ALOT of stuff, changed it so it doesnt even follow the books at all.

The Real Nikki 02-26-2010 08:43 PM

I'm only on the second book right now, but yeah things are way different. I like having real faces to Richard and stuff though.
He's suppose to be -very- tall and strong in the books, but I let it pass.

kougerkat 02-28-2010 07:32 AM

My friend and I watch it almost religiously. 4pm Saturdays, we're both in front of the tv, and usually on our computers so we can discuss it as it airs via AIM.

And yea, there are a lot of differences between the books and the show, Mord'Sith eating meat in the show when they're vegetarians in the books or the whole mass amount of tension in the show between Richard and Kahlan even though in the books it's not there and explained decently why, etc. The list is a fairly long one if you wanted to get into actual comparing and all.

I could even go into a slight plot hole that they had at the beginning of season two and the tear in the veil between the world and the underworld because the writers seemed to forget a few key points of a specific character that they didn't kill until episode eight of season two.

But, I'm a geek that has way too much knowledge and ability to pick at things like a hole in frayed jeans.

The Real Nikki 03-01-2010 01:45 PM

Haha, I love that geeky knowledge.

Megas2point0 03-03-2010 04:37 AM

It's a very good show, but the time slot it's in is very inconvenient for me. =/

mau5ie 03-05-2010 03:48 AM

the show is good once you get about five episodes in.
as with everything else, the books are MUCH better! :D

has anyone heard anything about filming or even writing the *third* season?
i'm half into the second season and am limiting myself to watching one episode per week.
don't want it to end.
ever.

kougerkat 03-05-2010 06:18 AM

The second season only has thirteen episodes out to date, about halfway through the season. And the next two weekends (this and next) are reruns.

As for the third season, as it stands now it has not been renewed because the ratings aren't high enough for the company to consider renewing it. So at the moment, it's looking like season two will be the end of it.

mau5ie 03-05-2010 06:48 AM

@ kougerkat - NOOO!!! D:
at least i have the books. do you read the books as well?

kougerkat 03-05-2010 06:52 AM

Yea, you're not alone in feeling that way about season three's no go. Most companies wait until May before they announce things like that so there's still a few months to see if they pick up season three though?

I have them and they're on my ever long list of things to read, but I haven't actually gotten to reading them yet.

I will eventually. =)

mau5ie 03-05-2010 07:13 AM

are ratings only television based? or do they factor in all mediums of access such as internet, netflix, etc?

phooey, at first i didn't like the show because it was so different from the books, but it really has grown on me. hate to see it go. watching Perdition (episode 10 season 2)! meep!

D:

kougerkat 03-05-2010 07:16 AM

The ratings, as I understand it, that they're basing renewal on are purely United States views that watch the television airing.

The episodes after Perdition get a little crack-tastic, just to warn you.

does this mean there will be more episodes added to season 2?

yea this episode is pretty redonk so far.
not really paying attention.
ooops!

i don't have cable. so i'm watching them on netflix. @[email protected]

kougerkat 03-05-2010 07:34 AM

Yes. There should be just as many episodes in season two as there were in season one, so between twenty-two and twenty-four. They'll be finished filming at the end of March for this season, and I know this because Bridget Regan has been telling people to send the fan mail to her P.O. Box in Cali instead of New Zealand address because of this fact.

In my area they aren't on cable. They're aired on WGN which is one of the free stations that they just upgraded and you need the box because they converted it to digital signals now. But yea, not cable.

mau5ie 03-05-2010 07:38 AM

weird. i always assumed everything on netflix was a completed work.
wahoo!!! so they'll be adding on to it! :D
you really just made my night!

grr.. nicci was supposed to be blond. -_-

kougerkat 03-05-2010 07:41 AM

Yea, but no. Season two has not yet been finished!
So glad I could help with your night at least. :)

And don't worry about Nicci. They do actually fix that error in the thirteenth episode, Princess.

mau5ie 03-05-2010 07:44 AM

shush. lol. she actually ends up being part of the seeker team in the books!
get to reading!!! so we can discuss!
do you have easy access to the books?
here they're only eight dollars!

kougerkat 03-05-2010 07:48 AM

Heh! Sorry!

And yes, I know. Despite not actually reading the books, I've done a little research into some of the characters because I'm role playing Richard in an RPG in livejournal, so I wanted some better research behind my belt for him. So I read up on some of the characters.

Though if we discuss the books we'd either have to do it through messages or in the book section, not the tv section. ;)
