First of all, Star Wars is not realistic in any way at all. It's fantasy. xD Star Trek has that sort of sci-fi realism, but Star Wars just goes out on a limb. That means that the whole future thing doesn't matter. It doesn't matter who's more in the future, because they're not the same style of story.

I like both but if I have to choose it would be Star Trek.
Vulcans are my favorite scifi race ever.

I personally don't care for either.

But I'll choose Star Trek since I can watch it if I have too and the movie was really good. That, and Levar Burton and Wil Wheaton were in the show, and I like them. So it gets my vote.

I love Star Wars, I like the epic story and episodic coolness. I like Ewolks which I think many people really think are totally totally adorable. I like the fact that there is the whole epic light versus darkness. The characters are totally unforgettable, especially Yoda.

star trek for me. i grew up watching the old stuff when i was a little girl and my dad came home from work. and i've been hooked since.. ive seen almost every episode including all the movies except the newest one. i am still debating on whether i want to see it or not. not sure.

star wars. eh ive seen them but i dont get all the hype. probably me. sometimes i miss the obvious ^_^

I was more of a Star Trek fan when I was younger. My step-dad would tape almost every episode that aired.
Me, I'd be in my room at the same time with my small TV watching it live and away from everyone else. Step-siblings would watch it after it was taped.
Saw the new movie and didn't know what to make of it. Having been many years since my last watched episode, the movie was a bit confusing. So, I'm thinking I'll go back to re-watching all the episodes soon.

And I also have to say, why does everyone insist on comparing them? They are the same genre, and that's about it. It's like comparing Pirates of the Caribbean and iRobot. (long long time ago v. future) Which is why I love both equally for completely different reasons.

I love both. Star Wars has Darth Vader and Han Solo and is you know a western samurai movie in SPACE. While Star Trek has Spock and Q and the borg and is intellectual, it's totally plausible. So they both rule and fulfill all my needs in sci fi.

Firefly was great! Pity it didn't last longer. There are other Sci-fi franchises which I wish would just die already. Stargate for example. And honestly I think the only reason why people started comparing these two to each other was becaus ethey were both in space with the word "Star" in the first word of the tittle then a four letter word to follow.

I'm sure if I made a story set in space with the name "Star Love" It wouldn't be sci-fi or fantasy like them, it would be a romantic comedy...that just happened to have space an aliens in it.
