Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
 

Alright. Why? Why(?)(!) do we not have a Prince of Persia thread in our media forum??? This atrocity must be remedied.

So, here it is folks. Discuss the almighty Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time movie here.

I'm excited about it! I really want to see it. It looks as if it would be good in my opinion.

As for the cast. I don't know. I haven't really played any of the games. I have Sands of Time of the PS2 but I never got far in it before I got stuck and just quit playing it. But that was a few years ago (don't remember exactly how long since I've only had my PS2 for I guess 5 years now). I want to start playing it again but between reading and facebook...and work...I get sidetracked. XD

Lol. In my opinion the casting is perfect. The prince is very close in appearance to the prince of the games. I'm excited.

The Forgotten Sands looks like it'll be a good game, but the Sands of Time movie has me worried. I really don't want it to be bad, but I don't want it to be the next Pirates either.

I played that game briefly and it really didn't entertain me that much. And as far as I can tell, it doesn't need a movie. But I guess I don't really know it that well.

I played the first game and it was one of the best video games I ever played.

As for the movie, I haven't formed an opinion yet. I'm actually waiting for other people to see it and tell me how it was because I'm not sure if I should be excited or not.

When I read a book and really enjoy it and they make it into a movie, it's very exciting because I get to see the characters come to life, so I always, always see the movies, BUT video games into movies . . . . well, I already saw the characters come to life. In fact, I played as them and things, so I can't imagine watching a movie about it being better. I already experienced being the character through controls, which is more intense than just passively watching a movie, in my opinion. Besides, a lot of what made the sands of time game great was reversing time with the dagger and how fun and suspenseful fighting all the sand guys were. It wasn't the story line (although that was good too) by itself that made it great and I feel like they are taking the fun parts out and leaving us with just the story line. The game is unique and that's what makes it special and they are taking the uniqueness out of it.

So I'm unsure. I'm going to see how everyone else likes it before I decide if I want to see it.

I played the PS2 remake, it was a pretty neat game with a nice concept.
Movie wise... just watched this Trailer, I didn't realize it was about "taking the dagger back to such and such place". In the game, the character just owns it for himself. But I guess having some kind of goal works for the movie version.

Hmm....I thought that part of the point of (at least one of) the games was to get rid of the dagger in the end by stopping the evil villain...I don't remember what they called him, it's on the tip of my tongue...

I watched it on Tuesday. It was very nice, I liked it a lot. :3 I've never played any of the Prince of Persia games, so I don't really have anything to compare the movie with, but I guess it's a good thing. Hey, at least I didn't have any expectations and there was no risk that I would end up disappointed. :D

Going by the first one. The Prince got the dagger and basically claimed it as his own. No "returning" or "destroying" involved.

I'm pretty sure I played the third one (this was a long time ago) and in that one the Prince had a love hate thing going on with the dagger but wanted to destroy it, though I think he never did.

I think I had the demo with my old xbox? But the movie looks interesting, that's for sure.

I haven't seen the movie yet but I definitely want to!

OMG i love that movie! it is soooo better than pirates of the carribean saga ever could be! i could only watch those movies once Prince of persia...forever! and i love the quote "and thats why i dont pay taxes"

I'm glad people are liking it, but I find it hard to believe that it's better than the Pirates Saga. I love that series. But that's my opinion, at least for now.

I don't see anything interesting about the Prince of Persia franchise, so I'm not going to see the movie or play any of the games.

I saw Prince of Persia last night and I really, really enjoyed it! The action scenes were totally the best part of the whole movie and I'm going to see it again for that and so that I can stare at Jake some more. (: His acting was definitely better than I expected it to be. His accent wavered a bit here and there, but nothing really distracted me from just watching the movie. I kind of liked him better than the princess in fact because I also thought that she got a bit annoying. xD

Trust me, that princess gets annoying in the games too.

I loved the games so had to see the movie. I saw it the Saturday after it came out and I really enjoyed it.

The movie was not bad, overall. I think I may have enjoyed it more had I not played the games so much, but this movie is definitely memorable.

This does appear to be a good looking movie, and Disney is doing it? That's odd in my opinion. I have never played the games, maybe I should hmmm.... umm.. maybe I will give that some thought and entertain the idea. I think I will wait until it comes out on dvd until I see it. Kind of strapped for cash at the moment. Going to the movie theatre is not exactly as cheap as it used to be lol!!
